Great question! A player with alot of speed through the NZ pushes the D back which creates a loose gap. Hunter can now decelerate on entry use the space and go across the open space and create a deceptive shot release.
If we transfer all of our weight to the net in this situation the shot has a great chance of getting blocked by the defender who has set an angle and has established stick position. Pivoting allows Hunter to throw his hips to the net while getting full extension with his shot release. @@patriciajames6601
