Athlete: Hunter St. Martin
Video Skills Coach: Sumeet Wareh
Over the last two seasons, Hunter has been working hard on improving his game to become a valuable player for his team in the WHL. Despite being a 6th round pick in 2020, we identified his strengths and utilized them to help him establish himself in the league as a member of the Medicine Hat Tigers. One of Hunter's most impactful strengths is his up-ice skating speed, which we focused on using to make him an effective checker and regain possession of the puck for his team. We encouraged him to be the smartest worker on the ice, constantly evaluating his performance and striving to improve. By utilizing his speed, Hunter was able to generate more takeaways and even draw penalties, leading to increased offensive opportunities for his team. This summer, we worked on rounding out his offensive rush game with the puck, focusing on speed adjustments when entering the offensive zone and improving his wide backhand and forehand net drives. The ultimate goal was to use his speed to push the opposition D back into their net and create chaos in front of the goal.
