Wow - Loved your video and congratulations! Very similar to how I get to hunt whitetails with the time and effort needed to harvest a buck in the SE Ohio mountains. Won't be long fall is around the corner.
Glad you enjoyed it! I love to hunt places where I don’t feel constrained by boundaries. Northern Michigan has that quality and it sounds like SE Ohio does too. Good luck connecting on a mountain buck this fall!
Bud you’re amazing me here. Love the drive, you will be humbled many times turkey hunting. Just a couple fyi’s turkeys can see color, the light on your hat when walking in. Also everyone misses, if you didn’t get worked up and miss why do it lol.
Thanks for the words of encouragement and advice. I definitely think I’m setting up for turkeys like I would for whitetail and it is hurting me. Loving the challenge though. Glad you liked the video!
Currently also out on my first turkey hunt alone. On day one I was impatient and over called a tom. Now on my fifth day and still my tag remains in my pocket. Hope to tag one this weekend.
Loved it brotherman!!!...Hunting at its finest, boots on the ground, earning it one on one...Northern minnesota boy here, 40+ years of thick pines, swamps, and tag alder marshes...Never could see how climbing into a little house on a field edge and shooting a buck you knew was going to be there a real hunt...Well i guess the heater could quit working and you cant get the game on the radio...But great hunt brother and an awesome well deserved trophy!!!
Thanks and you and I are in agreement. I’ve hunted places with a lot of deer to choose from. It is fun at first but pretty quickly you realize you’re out there for more than a deer. The adventure and camaraderie of hunting camp in big country like northern Minnesota and the UP of Michigan is one of the boxes I need to check.
🤣🤣🤣 I’m a work in progress. Intense mornings like that reveal the cracks in your game. I didn’t know I did that until I started editing. Glad that buck never gave me a shot!
Great video bud..very well put together. Gave me vibes of Marty Souffer days of wild America, if you know. Best compliment I can give. May be before you time. Keep it up 🤓
Sorry that Kansas hunting trip didn't pan out for you. Nice vid, though. I do have 3 tips for you. First, get a pop-up blind. Second, get out of the draw and into the cut corn or CRP, high ground where bucks can spot you. Third, DECOY, with scent. They will come to you! Works really well in Iowa, at least, during the peak rut. Happy hunting.
We used several brands of decoys. I like the "boss". We kept a decoy at every popup blind so we didn't have to haul it every morning to our setup. We kept it assembled in the pop-up. Just had to place it and spray scent killer on it as well as buck tarsal scent between its legs. Bucks have to see and smell your decoy.
They aren’t waterproof from the store. I applied a water repelling spray to mine. Water beads up and rolls off nice but I still wouldn’t call them waterproof.
Sorry you didnt get your buck, been warm here in missouri, gun season starts on the 11th and temps will rise everyday later in week temps in high 60s not great for deer hunting hope to see more rut activity, God bless.
Being a michiganer myself, it kinda wrecks you when you hunt out of state. Especially in prime hunting states to the west of Michigan. Yep, I think you just got wrecked as well, lol. Good video and good luck getting a big one on the wall, 😉
Private or Public? What area are you in, North Mo. Central Mo., or Southeast Mo. I've lived in Mo. my entier life and have hunted nearly half of it. You don't have to give out your exact location, just a general locality. And YES Mo. Has Huge bucks! My personal best was a 157" 10pt. Second best was a 145" 12pt. since Mo. has a 7pt rule now the bucks just keep getting bigger. I saw the biggest whitetail in my life on my brother's farm in North Central Mo. several years ago. I was hunting off the ground on top of a ridge overlooking a dry creek bed, kinda like a natural tree stand. Saw many deer from that spot and then Goliath showed up over my right shoulder and slightly behind me at no more than 15yrds. I had my rifle leaning up against a tree instead of in my hands, I swear this Beast of a buck would have scored 180" Plus maybe more, he was wide, tall and thick, his neck was the size of my chest. And you already know how it ended, he caught me reaching for my rifle and 2 bounds into the thick brush and poof......He Gone! Mo. Definitely Has Monarchs. Good Luck on your persuit of a true giant buck! Missouri has Definitely crossed over the threshold as being known as a Land of the Giants state and rivals Iowa, Kansas, and Nebraska as leading states to kill a True Giant. Especially in the North Central part of the state. Don't give up record books were made to be broken.
We were hunting northern Missouri. I agree, it’s an awesome place to hunt. And I feel your pain but just encountering a giant like that is special. Sounds like you will get another chance one of these days. Good luck this season! Kansas is on the menu for us this year but I will definitely be back to Missouri in the next few years.
Definitely not a walk in the park. So when you find a couple of decent shed antlers in the same area it is a pretty good clue. Even if they are a few years old. Thanks for watching!!!
Good shot Sara! Cool video, very creative title by the way. It's probably me but I did have a hard time hearing you talk until after Sara shot the doe. Maybe it's these 62 year old ears of mine, lol
Nicely done, I like the way you kept it natural. I thought admitting some regret showed respect and honesty in your hunt, I also wished you hit the main camera record button, lol
Nice job man 👏 congrats! There's always a bit of a feeling of remorse whenever we take an animal, but bears seem to be the worst for it. Congrats again 🍻
Could hear the guy plain as day talking on the phone. I baited that spot for a month and never once ran into him. He was a first time bear hunter doing it DIY just like me so it was cool.
