First time bear hunter! Opening day, DIY, public land. 

First bear hunt and it was DIY and on public land. Michigan's Bear Season runs from September through October with huntable days and method of hunt (baiting, hounds, firearm, archery) varying depending on your hunt unit. My hunt was done over bait and with a firearm. After running bait stations for almost a month, I was excited to finally climb into a tree and see some Michigan black bears up close and personal.
