I played this a few years ago for my final degree's recital and while I was satisfied with my performance I don't think anything will ever be able to compare to Sophie's. Incredible stuff.
I was seriously thinking about playing this for my final recital. But I ended up deciding not to. This piece is just such a beast. I do want to play it some time in my career though.

There is more aggression than humor, more random shouts than structure. A great violinist but lack of integrity and substance. Very very expressive yet a little unnatural and uncomfortable. I finished listening the whole thing and now my belly feels not so good…
The Andante assai deserves many t.v. commercials it should be known by everyone who has ears .I heard it on the radio when I was ten and have never tired of its gorgeousness and its wit. The 1st mov alone should make the most beloved violin concertoof the 20th cent but there is always the Stravinsky and Rochberg.! and the Menotti and his lover's beautiful lyrical marvel .I try to love the Berg but...
une oeuvre très difficile comme toujours chez jolivet que je connaissais pas bravo madame il faut le faire .Il y a quelques ressemblances avec son concerto pour trompette c'est du Jolivet pur jus

Diese kulturelle Botschaft aus der "Münchner Feldherrnhalle" gefällt mir viel besser als die Botschaft der Nazis vom 8. und 9. Nov. 1923 an genau dem gleichen Ort!
