@@juniormorgan4779 thanks I got another one coming out soon. Check it out in a couple weeks same style helmet. Just a completely different paint job. Lots of detail
I also airbrush, …I’ve done similar work. I own a 1965 F100 that I’ve airbrushed patina, my rust looks more realistic …only because it is actual rust. 😜
Well it’s not like I’m just on this helmet have a few jobs in different stages in the shop so I jump from job to job till I get close to the end then it’s just bust threw and finish (some jobs are drying due to primer some are waiting to cure to buff waiting on shipment of paint etc…) My base price for just about any helmet job is 450/500 bucks to start and if super crazy with colors and mult ideas up from there This job I believe came in and sat for a week or two before I could get to starting then think I was done in about 2 weeks. Just taking my time
everything comes and goes ... its like trendy tattoos you can see the time period people got it done by the trend example some tribal and popular at the time video game logos like mortal combat etc but to me in the case of rat rods i like them more because for a while hot rods had to be super high end and flawless and not everyone can afford that . its nice to see people out riding around in a old ratted out car than it just sitting in the shed not finished cause hot rod higher ups say need it this way or that but yes i do agree with you also that rat rodding some times is ugh same stuff rat rod in the chopper world and its dumb half the time just my thoughts
So we were looking forward to the finished product but your video links were covering all the tires so it’s really hard to see the finish product. Maybe next time put your video link at the top of the page?
Great work. was told years ago that you have to be careful in what you spray on helmets because it will eat into the material. Understand that's why you would use a base coat but do you need to be careful in what you choose?
My experience, not so much with a shiny helmet, but more of the flat helmets tend to have reactions, depending on the quality of the helmet real cheap helmets tend to react like crazy the higher-end ones I never really had a problem with. But the shiny Walmart specials or no name brand Amazon ones have a graphic on it and you’re scuffing it up to put artwork or base color on top you have to take it all the way down to the bear because sometimes those cheap helmets have cheap glue that holds the graphics on and they will react to your base color, so I usually just kind of sand the whole thing down and start fresh. It takes a lot more time I know but at least I know when I put the final coat of clear on I’m not gonna get a surprise reaction it’s gonna go on with no surprises .
Few weeks of work some off and on Had it several months at the shop lot of looking at it and thinking of how to make it look good without looking like I just slapped it together … the owner had been working on his project many many years and wanted to give it my all
You're illustrations are great, the way you described painting and doing things you take the nervousness out of the job or Hobby. outstanding work!!!. thanks for you're effort.
Bro, you are my hero. You do the best patina paint job I ever seen. I love this kind of job and it inspires me as a motorcycle custom builder and painter. 🤘🤘 Thanks a lot for sharing your techniques
