Welcome to TGM Aquatics! Here you’ll find all things fish keeping with a stronger focus on African Cichlids! I love for the hobby started when I was a kid with my dad and ever since then I’ve been hooked!
Thanks so much! Excellent guide for setting up the 307. After I unpacked the media trays I forgot the correct sequence arrangement for the bottom two baskets so I’m grateful for your video so I could get that right. Thanks again for taking the time to share, great job!
@@peekster09 I appreciate the love, thank you 🙏🏽 this is exactly why we make content like this, in hopes that we could help others and keep the community going! I’m thankful that my video was helpful for you! Hope you love the filter, it’s been awesome for me!! Cheers!
Technically you are right but typically our tap water contains chlorine which can kill off bacteria which is what i try to avoid as much as possible. You’re not wrong about the substrate but if I can retain as much BB I usually take that route to play it safe.
@@elchangata typically if you’re on top Of you weekly water changes you don’t have to clean out the filter that often. For me, I’ll do it about every 6 months. If your testing your water regularly as you should and the parameters look great other then Nitrate levels which decrease with water changes, then sometimes you can go a little longer but until you get the hang of this routine, every 4-6 months is probably a safe bet.
nice to find a video that you can see a lid on tank with the 307 most ive seen have been mounted lights i have a 307 on way and wanted to make sure it could be done with out cutting the lid on a new tank subbed aswell
The video is cool but like many of you beginner RU-vidrs you take too long talking about what you're going to talk about it's a lot of competition it'll make somebody click and go to the next just practice moving a little quicker and you'll be all right 👍
I have been watching lots of videos on how to set this filter up. It's easier for me to see it done than to read. This was one of the best I have seen on this. My issue though was I needed to know where to cut the hose and how to install the filter onto the tank. You did not show those..
I appreciate you 🙏 Im glad I was able to help you and you found the video helpful. I do apologize for not getting the hose cutting on video and I’m sure I’m probably to late but i just cut the hose directly in the middle to give myself two equal size pieces and cut away any excess if needed if the hoses were still to long.
Hey so their common name and scientific name is: Yellow Tail Acei AKA Pseudotropheus Elegans There are foods out there that you can give to your fish to enhance color, but one of the main factors of color is where that fish lands in terms of the hierarchy inside of the tank. Typically the most dominant fish in your tank will be the most colored up All the way down to the Fish at the bottom of the totem pole, which typically will show no color at all, and will look dull in color.
Great tips dude especially the sponge cleaning, replacements and money saving tip using the poly-fil. Do you add the Seachem Stability to the filter or aquarium? Thank you for awesome video.
Thank you I’m glad you got something from the video! No need to “gate-keep” when it comes to money savings! After filter maintenance of any kind I always add Seachem Stability to kickstart new beneficial bacteria and to promote growth since a lot of beneficial bacteria will inevitably be removed during cleaning.
Honestly, the size that I reviewed would be good if you’re gonna double up on a 40 breeder but personally, I would go with the biggest filter I could afford so that way if I ever decide to upgrade in tank size in the future, I have the proper filtration already.
You’re absolutely right and I’m glad you brought up that key feature that the Aquaclear lacks vs the Tidals. I have a Tidal running in one of my grow outs and has never failed me
A 307 with a 30 gallon is exactly what I started out with and if I could go back I probably would’ve gone with a 407. There’s no such thing as over filtration. Plus, the larger you can go with a filter now means you can upgrade in tank size in the future and not worry about needing a larger filter! Pro tip! 😂
@@tgmaquatics I'm pretty done with what I want. Next month 125 or 135. I thought about the 120 5ft but another foot of swim space is needed. I believe I'm at 20 fish in my 75 now and they are getting bigger. I have a venustus that I'm hoping to be a male. He's got blue tint all over the body and very little blue around the lips but no blaze coming in yet no aggression as if it was a female and it's about 3.5 inches now.
When I order from imperial tropicals I usually look to see if they have more than 10 for the unsexed cichlids . Better chance you get males but awesome video man . Love African cichlids
You’re definitely right, the more fish the higher the odds of getting a male but I don’t have enough tanks (including my others) to get an abundance at one shot. The last time I ordered from them and requested they make their best judgment on males they did really good! 8/10 were males from juvenile size lol. I figured maybe I’d get lucky again haha. Thank you for checking out the video man, more to come!
Awesome! How do you like it? My only complaint is that I wish it came with an intake tube to reach further down into the tank but other then that mine works great!
@@tgmaquatics that what I wish for too but I also have a seeded sponge in the tank. Definitely cleared up the quarantine tank a little better as I just put it on 2 days ago. I also put a little bit of polyfil on top of the sponge then the bio media in the basket. I have my albino red empress in the tank now with no issues.
