My father had a tendency to call me "Chunky Fella," and it was not exactly due to my petite frame. Paying homage to the man I dearly loved, and recently lost to cancer, I call my channel "ChunkyFellaFishing." I am a chunky man, fishing for chunky fish.
I thoroughly enjoy fishing the rivers and creeks of Middle Tennessee for my favorite fish to catch, the smallmouth bass. I'm typically fishing on my Bonafide SS127 kayak, but I'll also occasionally hitch a ride on my brother's boat.
Yo! I know I have commented on your videos on the past. The duck river will always give up fish. Two 20+ in a short span is rare but happens! My best day out there I caught 12 fish over 17” in 4 hours.
Nice float...that's the reason I like river fishing...if the fish aren't playful...it's just a nice day on the water. My daughter and I have actually switched over to gar fishing on slow days. thanks for the video!!
Hey nice float and much complication. Duck river I skipped it for last 5 years or 7 years but I am going to hit it 2024-2025 like it’s no tomorrow. I am planning to explore at least 50 miles of it. Thanks for sharing your experience. Impressive
Hey chunky that’s a chunky smallie way to go I am on the duck today floating going to see some smallies for sure. You inspired me it’s a short distance from home I over looked this place.
Hey nice video. Will you consider a fishing buddy! I am looking for folks I can paddle fish and explore the middle tn section 1 2 and 3. Love that bonfide kayak
Congratulations on the 20 1/4” smallie! Thanks for the gentle release of the fish and box turtle too. Nice content ….thanks for taking us along! High Noon
Hey man what shuttle service do you use down there? I was planning on floating with some friends this weekend but they canceled, so I’m trying to find a way to float myself
Those big ones feel so good to catch...don't stress...that skinny 20 incher was not over 3.5...tha'ts why people measure length too...the river fish are usually skinny skinny...I'm always surprised when an 18 weighs in the mid 2's. as far as you PETA comments....the fishing license fees we pay are used to maintain and improve all these rivers...I really appreciate that you do take care to minimize the impact on the fish...thanks for the video!!
I was out on the river said hi to you this day. Right as you’re taking a picture of your trophy smallmouth, you can kinda see my family off in the distance. My son fishes and loves fishing channels. He enjoyed this video. We were all cracking up at your “he jumped back in the boat scene” haha. Nice videos. Relaxing. Peace.
@@chunkyfellafishing haha, that's great. We've shot a lot of video on this stretch of the Duck and Henry Horton. I have a few "fishing" videos of my son fishing. Feel free to check them out on our channel if you want. Have a good one!
I fish on the duck and on the buffalo river. Is a 110 whopper plopper too big? It looks like you may be using a 110.. I’ve only used it once on the buffalo and didn’t get much action. I caught a 9.9 inch rock bass on a torpedo yesterday. Pretty good size rock.
Nice day on the river!!...going to have to try that...did the Harpeth at hidden lakes yesterday...super pretty stretch....water was still a bit silty...got some decent ones and of course a giant channel cat...I always get those on the harpeth ...thanks for the video!!
Nice! I’ve never been out that way before. I was trying to figure out a way to send you my email if you was interested in baits but RU-vid kept blocking me 😂
I use GoPro hindsight. It records the previous 30 seconds, constantly, and so whenever you click record it starts 30 seconds into the clip. It’s a great function but has been problematic lately on both my GoPro 10 and 11. The video posting in about a half hour is the GoPro 11 but is still having issues.
New subscriber here! I fish the duck a lot. I know exactly where you’re at but I go up river from there ( unlimited with xi3). I was killing them on hellgrammites yesterday so if you’re interested I make my own!
thanks for vid. Had a big one on the Stones this weekend...like setting the hook into a boulder...then it moves ...great feeling. Super nice fish you had there!!! Sometimes I just stop fishing after a big one and just enjoy the feeling. If you caught that one that finesse rod you had a helluva fight!!
I thought you had a dog behind you panting but it was the herons I guess with their mating ritual making that sound. Good fishing and good luck with no overheating issues.
Love the river videos. Local old guy kayaker that hasn’t adventured to rivers yet. Have to figure out the whole get picked up at a different location than I launch from. Subscription ☑️
Thanks for the sub and thanks for watching. I have a VERY kind wife that picks me up! Otherwise, start at the narrows of the Harpeth. You can basically self shuttle.
@@chunkyfellafishingI second this. I’m running a go pro with the media mod and a mic. Run the go pro without the battery in it. It will cut on and run as long as it’s connected to the power pack. I fished all day on the 4th on OHL with no issues in direct sunlight. Just keep the power pack covered from direct sunlight. Great video my man! Just subbed 🤙🏻
Love the video. Love John at creek. I live in Franklin and started your videos because I get in at a bunch of these sights. I use the nikko hell. And the plopper. Hope to see you out there
Also, John is the man. I hope I get enough followers that he notices my channel and lets me take him somewhere local, although he has hit most of the good rivers.
Came across one of your videos today. Liked it so much I watched another and subscribed. Gotta tell you the biggest thing that caught my eye was the river itself and how much the Duck looked almost identical to my favorite river here in Missouri the St. Francis. Enjoying your site keep ‘em coming. 👍🏻
To grow your channel, you really need to do something that most other channels don't do. Example: explain your rod, lure, brand/models, where to buy, how to use lures, etc, etc.
