Thank you for this tutorial!!! I've been 3d scanning trim pieces in my truck and the output is always non manifold big pile of vertices. I had to ensure I solidifies the faces first and also made sure that materials in the modifier is set to transfer from the cube. 🎉
due to the way Onshape s apps, this is unfortunately unavoidable in Safari and Firefox. if you run KM on grid.space with those browsers, it does not have that limitation. alternatively, using a chromium-based browser will provide the necessary privileges. it's a complex topic and one which I've raised with Onshape a few times. there are no other apps in their store which do such intensive processing in the browser and so they are not affected.
This turned a model that had 30 errors into a model with 106 errors. lol. I don't doubt that it works most times. But I applied it to a file that windows 3d wont even fix so i am not surprised it didn't work. I appreciate the tip though. Typically the windows "3d Builder" does a great job at fixing a few manifold issues but it struggles with really big files regardless of number of errors. But I recommend trying it if this blender method doesn't work. Though the current file I am having issues with won't fix with either of them.
@@GridSpace Wow, that's a great commitment. Thank you. Website is graphically gorgeous too. Normally free softwares look like they are from the time of the first PC. Yours look great
it's what I had on hand. I doubt an H block would make a noticeable difference. there are other dominant design issues with the printer when it comes to print quality.
I am using Blender Version 4.1.0 (4.1.0 2024-03-26) and unfortunately did not have the same luck with this particular approach. The "Self" intersect method is not longer an option. I attempted a similar workaround where I applied the modifier to the cube and used "intersect", and it appeared in the viewfinder to have similar results, but it didn't fix my manifold issues. I am saying this in hopes that this alternate approach works for others and that it was just a personal issue with my particular geometry. Another approach that did work for my geometry was the "Remesh" modifier. I used the "Voxel" approach in the remesh function with a sufficiently small mesh to grab all the fine curvature of my model. This worked, but warning that it was very memory intensive. It took me a couple iterations to find a sufficiently small resolution size such that it (1) captured all of the curves in my model and (2) didn't crash my application because of how small I was refining. Good luck out there!
Thank you for this informative video! I came across Kiri:Moto because my laptop didn't have a good enough video card for Cura. Now that I've used it, I'm glad I found it and am enjoying learning all about the software!
hello~! I'm using kiri;moto~! I made a model for practice, used it for cnc, adjusted the size and organized it, but the slice does not come out. I tried following your model once, but it does not come out even when I press slice. How do I get it to come out??
Before remodeling the whole thing, try to open it in Bambu Studio Slicer. Even without a bambu lab printer, the software can be used to auto-repair non-manifold edges by clicking on "repair" in the bottom right corner.
Hi,, Thanks for the video, i have downloaded the same file exactly , and i followed your steps one by one, but unfortunately didn't work..Knowing that i am using Blender 4.0
@@GridSpace thank you, I randomly found this video, I am building a custom cr-30 variant and am planning on using kapton film or ptfe film for testing. I was going to test this stuff too.
How would you go about doing an axis relief using this program? Every time I try to do something big kiri moto cant handle the stl file so it just crashes. Ive seen other people mill this same file though which is strange.
the operations to support this have been expanded substantially since this video was made. if you want X/Y relief, the contour option is best preceded by a roughing operation. depending on the geometry, the pocket operation using the contour sub-option may also work.
Hey man I keep running into an issue whenever I import files it will take forever to slice or wont even slice at all. Im attempting a large project. I notice that whenever I try to use the engraving v bits it cuts through my parts in the animation. Whenever I hit the true shadow button it will just get stuck loading when I slice the file. I waited 6 hours to see if it would do anything but it just stays in the same spot.
this method will not turn a shell into a solid. it's meant to resolve simpler geometry errors like ones in which a face is missing or a section folds back onto itself.
Where is this option now? I don't see it. The app looks completely different than this video now. I don't want my part in the center of the stock... i should be able to move it wherever within the stock i input.
some of the videos date back years. KM has evolved significantly since then. since it's just me, I haven't had time to remake or update all the videos.
