Nice video. Need more videos where people actually work in boots. Love that! I tried to order these, wait time was just too long for me. Went with the Whites Perry Select. Still have to wait ten weeks, but I just didn’t want to wait 6,7,8-10 months. The leather from Nicks that I wanted was out of stock, which was going to add time as well. Great review.

Boot barn near me still sells the american made ca7011 and ca7811, i just bought a pair of each i have never worn another brand of work boots started with carolina never found a reason to change
PNW any of them are 10 times better then Carolinas or Thorogood boots even Redwing because if a need a Safety toe boot in RW they are made in Vietnam and workmen ship is the worst I have seen
Im looking forward to a resole video. Def look into doing a double sole, where you get a christy sole sanded down a bit and they add a lug sole. Makes eemm JUICY and THICC..

Bending the boots in half is a bizarre test to show how good a boot is, if you are roofing or kneeling constantly you want the boots to bend at the toe. If you are bending the boot in half it doesn't mean much - you are just proving that you managed to bend a fiberglass, steel or leather shank inside the boot that is put in so you can be more stable on stairs and ladders, it doesn't make a boot necessarily bad or good.
@@deanhawk6050 Yes, and the arch is in the middle of the boot, which is where the shank is, which is why trying to bend boots in half is a dumb test to show the quality of a boot.
I just ordered them, they look good boots for solid ground work. I have whites smokejumpers for working in harsh conditions big fan so far, great boots.
I have travellers but I am going to change the wedge sole and put a heel, I have heritage semi-dressed and I love the heel, it's game changer, plus I walk a lot in the English countryside and wedged is too slippery now that it's a bit worn out. The boots themselves are like slippers I could wear them all day and sleep in them, which I did, and you never feel like taking them off, the 8 ounce roughed out flesh leather becomes like a second skin. Don't oil them too much or the walnut roughed out leather becomes black like a combat shoe.
Those are deceiving looking. Mainly because they look soft, they look comfortable from the gate. Once broken in, they are the best boots ever. I bought a pair of JK's recently. They are legit the best boots ever. I find myself picking em up and just looking at them every time I walk by them. I agree with the leather laces, never used em before, I love em as well. I went to a local leather shop to pick up a belt, and they were astonished by the leather used. Most people, unless they own NW boots, they have never seen a pair of boots so well made. Nicks, Franks, JK's, I feel like JK is probably the biggest gamble of these 3, in terms of having stitching that might not look perfect, ur probably gonna get a heel with a sanding mark from where someone made a mistake. Regardless, you will get an amazing pair of boots from any of these known brands. I like these boots. You picked a nice pair. As far as break in, you can oil them, that's going to darken them, though.
I’m from New York, and I’d go with nicks because there still an American company whites is Japanese now, but made in America. But you can’t go wrong with either.
Allot of folks hear nightmare stories about breaking in boots with the foot bleeding, giant blisters etc. But I find that if you got the right size, like it sounds you did it's never that bad.
The Thorogood polyurethane Christy looking sole can be ordered separately . They are almost as soft as the Christy, but are much more durable and longer lasting . In fact, the sole actually outlasted my Thorogood boots themselves, because the canvas inner lining of the Thorogood boots tore loose; making them unwearable . I pretty much wasted my time keeping the leather on the Thorogood's in shape with Obenaufs, because an inner lining failure took them out .
@@todtalk3912 thank you for the tips, I have heard of the jk boots and only heard amazing things about them. Nicks do take forever to come in one big downside but it’s okay. I do want to invest in franks I’ve heard they make a true masterpiece!
