Came late to the party after this review. First run in the Mont Blanc Carbon today. They felt like the most refined version of the Altra formula as soon as I tried them on, and then I got a PB on my regular route. Happy days and thanks for making this 👍

Nice work out, just got done with a hotel workout of 10 x 5 reps clean and press each side (20kg KB) alternating with 5 rep pull-ups EMOM. As I get older I am leaning towards simple functional workouts that maximise effort. At home workout planned for tomorrow. Body weight rows x 50, BW dips x 25 and 800m jog/run x 2 planned for tomorrow 💪👍❤️

Cheers for the video James. Are you using an app for the timer? I try Emom but I find without the sounds, etc. I miss the starting points for each set. Also, any reason why you prefer 2 kettlebells over one? Just to add more muscle all over rather than possibly work the abs/obliques more? Thanks. Cool videos by the way.
@movemorenowjames
@movemorenowjames 3 дня назад
Thanks - appreciate the comments. Yes, using an app called “interval timer” basically set it for 1 min of work with 1 sec rest .. so it beeps and resets every minute . I do a lot with single kettlebells but currently loving the feel of doubles - plus it helps to maximise my time so getting a bigger overall bang for your buck.

have you tried changing the insole in the Timp5 to a thinner one? i've heard that can make the upper seem bigger and more accommodating. thanks for the vids btw. i always used to run in Nikes, but found the lack of cushion around the front/mid foot frustrating. finding Altra has been rewarding.

You seem like someone who might know. The reason I like the zagama so much, is that it feels like the foam is thicker under the big toe. Nike has done this with a few shoes in the past but never call it out (Nike footscape). I tend to toe off through my big toe a lot, but the zagama, having more foam under the toe, supports my foot more than a true neutral shoe, so I toe off much better. Does the kiger do this at all? For reference, I tried the Pegasus trail 4 and was definitely not liking how empty it felt under the ball of my feet.
@movemorenowjames
@movemorenowjames 10 дней назад
Hi. So the kiger is approx 4 mm drop so rhere is not much difference in cushion from heal to toe - same with the zegama but the Peg is approx 10 mm so it does feel thinner up front … I know what you mean !

So it depends but generally yes, full body splits but I do emphasise on on upper or lower each time - lots of kettlebell work too. I train 6/7 times a week but again, some are easy and some very hard … I will do a proper video soon as a few people have asked. How about yourself?

Late to the party here. I’m in my 60s and not a runner but have recently started suffering badly with PF. I think you’re right, shoes make a helluva difference. All the old advice just wasn’t working so I switched to an old pair of zero drop Merrell’si had in the wardrobe and immediately found some relief. Doing some research, it seems most advice from physios is at least 30-40 years old! And the one study that is more up to date had 14 “experts” and 40 study patients, not many considering the size of the UK population! Anyway, I found and American podiatrist on RU-vid who’s advice is contrary to everyone else but it works! The towel gripping exercise, getting rid of narrow shoes, etc, etc, and strengthening the foot seems to be the key. This doesn’t happen with regular shoes and trainers which actively encourage heel strike. Going to zero drop I’ve noticed I walk entirely differently because heel strike without the padding is incredibly painful! Anyway, I decided to that although I’d like to progress to barefoot shoes eventually at the moment I need some cushioning so I got a pair of Altra Provision 6s. Wow, they are incredible- zero drop with some shock absorption, what could be better? But I’m now convinced strengthening the feet, ankles and legs is the key to getting rid of plantar fasciitis, not just getting “well padded, supportive shoes” as this doesn’t allow for good circulation, which seems, by many accounts, to be incredibly important.

With barefoot style shoes there’s definitely a lot more ground feed back and better stability for sure , the altras are good as zero and wide - I would nt recommend “normal” trainers as just a little too bulky and uneven … if possible, no shoes on firm grass feels the best - personally
