Great video, James. Always good stuff! Would love to see you review some of the newer Garmin tech, namely something like the Epix gen 2 Pro. Would love to get your opinion, but just a suggestion!
I have both and I like them both. For sure I'll buy the Zegama 2 but last week Nike had the Zegama with 40 % off on their website and gave an extra 25 % off if you bought 2 items so I got me another pair of Zegamas. The Ultrafly is a really great shoe but its way too expensive.
I bought the ultrafly in a similar sale. £137. Seems like a good deal for a carbon plated wide shoe. Obviously hate the colours. Shoes should never be white kr off white. No chance they will ever lool half nice again.
Have to admit for my long narrow feet both were pretty awful for me - heavy (close to 400g in a UK 13) & rather wide. That said have to admit I am only an occassional trail runner but running in either for say an hour or so off road was never particularly enjoyable. Of the Nike trail ones, my first choice would have to be the Peg Trail 4 GORE-TEX which is also a decent road-trail option.
400g is getting close to an extra kilo on the end of your legs … I can seem why you might find them a little too cumbersome - especially as a road runner ! Cheers Tim for the feedback
Sorry to hear that … I guess they clearly aren’t for everyone- I used them for my last ultra - they felt ok 👌 (that said, I have gone completely different direction over the last months - more minimal)
New to trail running, how much toe space between longest toe and end of shoe? Same ‘thumbs width’ rule as normal running shoes - or do you need more with trail shoes..? Thanks!
Hi. Yes, for me a thumbs width is good … no need to get much more - a good test is how the feel going down hill as this is were they can scrunch up slightly . Which shoe are looking at ? Annoyingly all brands differ slightly
@@movemorenowjames hi James, thanks for reply! I am trying to get into Altra - I tried the timp on in store but it felt overall too voluminous in the shoe itself - not the length, but the space within/ around bridge of foot and ankle - thinking on the Outroad which I read is a little narrower but still more organic feeling (if that makes sense) 😎 Thanks Again! Gary
