They are still going strong. Part of the upper started to crack and peel, but I think it was my fault. After a trip to the Rocky Mountain foothills for a walk and wade for bull trout and mountain whitefish, I hit the road back home so they stayed wet for 10 hours and I probably forgot them in the vehicle for a few days. Important for the longevity of the boots and to kill any pathogens to wash them with clean them with fresh water and dry them in the sun. Thanks for checking out the video!
I guess I have to say this. Cook to 145°F (63°C) . High parasite load on those. Don't throw them out! My sister did, I wasn't happy about that. Sushi has parasites in it, they freeze it for 7 days and no one complains. I love this place. Gets the kids very excited. Catch a dozen of them in a few hours with the family involved.
Ok nice job. I have an 03 6.0 and I'm doing this job now. All bolts oil line and wire removed. Back bolt stripped. Gonna try extraction socket or small pipe wrench. All this because icp and ipr problems. Trouble free for 100k then no start 366k and was running great. So happy to have Back up vehicle.
I was there yesterday and caught a 45 pounder right off the side of the bridge. My rod broke and I hand lined it, got a few cuts on my fingers but I managed to land it. Best catch of the year for me lol
that's awesome that they worked out for ya. I had to go an entire size down in order to get a good fit. So I ordered my street size of 13 but had to exchange for a 12. but for the price and ease of exchange id definitely say send it!!! great boots!
Thanks for the great video and explanation. I broke the Low/Medium side ceramic panel in my Big Buddy heater today on a fishing trip. So when I lit it of course you’d have to run it on high but the low medium side was still supplied propane. Was pretty sure I was going to do a Part two of my exploding tent series. I toughed it out and froze most of the day until I got back to a bit of cell service and found your video. Although I didn’t have spare parts my goal was to just move the high ceramic panel over to the low medium side which I was able to do. It’s working great and tomorrow I’ll have at least some heat which is all I need now that the temperature is not as cold. Thanks! I must’ve followed along too closely though as I ended up with two screws left over as well… I’ll find a spot for them when I take the heater apart again once I have a replacement panel.
Now you can light your smokes easily haha. I would be careful about Carbon Monoxide levels. I can’t say for sure, but I have a hunch that the method of combustion with the plates has something to do with the claim that Buddy heaters are indoor safe. Keep your vent cracked and tight lines!
Sweet video. That pipe is HDPE and thats important because its more flexible than pvc or abs. Great idea and I have HDPE at work so i'm doing this for sure!!
I appreciate the comment. The futon is still going strong and works out great for overnighters and adds that extra space for all four of us to hang out in the shelter.
This has been the most helpful and thorough explanation and demonstration I have been able to find. You really need to completely take this heater apart. You only had 2 screws left at the end. I will have about 6 more my first try and have to watch this video 10x. Thank you very much!!
Thanks for the lucid explanation and demonstration. Think about doing a complete teardown explanation. Good video tutorials on the Big Buddy are rare. I've been using Buddy heaters for years. Currently, I have two, one with a broken tile. Thanks for the help.
Great video! im thinking about some way to heat the engine block on the ice, or when tenting. Seen some bigger heater with copper pipe blowing on the block. I think in an emergancy with a small handheld propane heater with a fan blowing in a funnel connected some copper pipe or 2" aluminium hose blowing heat on the engine and battery. (probably with some tarp over the hood?) Seen someting like that? (or a petrol heater like on a car?)
@@28fish no. From what I'm told the media gets embedded into the aluminum. I have an aluminum boat that was blasted with the wrong medium and when you weld it just melts like solder.
Yeah, that would be great if you can find one or are not in a pinch. I wish the guy I bought the turbo from had the pedestal or a local salvage yard had one. It’s not pretty, but it works.
I just bought a 2007 MP, it runs good but I can tell some exhaust is coming up through the front shroud. I'll take it all apart next summer and fix it up nice.
really good video. i had an issue with the left tile flaming up instead of glowing, i almost had the heater apart just like you did and i found out that spiders had made webs in the plenum intake. that can be cured by just removing the bottom inside shield (two screws) and wiping out the webs. info that may save someone the unnecessary job of taking the heater apart. if you want to pass that along to people they may find it useful
turn the heater upside down and take off the bottom metal shield and you will see the gas intake tube, mine was full of spider webs , i cleaned them out and Bobs you uncle.@@jhlewis10
OP, you saved me a bunch of time and money. I had a sputtery flame on the left panel and thought for sure i had to either replace the panel or the whole buddy. then i scrolled across this comment, flipped mine over, and shined a flashlight down the bottom grill. lo and behold, a web clogging the left
i've had three flip overs now, I never use my pop-ups any more. In fact I bought a new pop-up last winter and used it once and remembered why i love flip overs.. Ps wanna buy a new eskimo limited edition with the plaid fabric? lol
If I remember correctly, the turbo bolts to the fuel pump cover. I can’t say for sure, but the fuel pump cover should be the same for all 6.0 blocks. The easiest thing would be to use the ‘05 turbo and it’s mounting pedestal. The pedestal mounting bolt pattern is the same across the years of production; it is the location of the turbo mounting bolts rust changes. Hope that helps and thank you for watching!
Hello from sweden, i have a venture lite -08, with som trouble changing from forward to reverse gear, i tried changing the chain tension, slightly better but still problematic, i bought a new reverse gear actuator but cant figure out how to get to the old one, from the side the coolant system is in the way. Do you think i will reach the reverse gear actuator following these same steps?
@@28fish Hey again, i was able to reach it from the front, had to take the air intake and som steering parts away, might not be the best way but it worked
Thanks for the update. I hope your comment can help others who may find it ! Hope you still have some snow for testing out your fix! Saturday we had enough for one last ride; by Monday afternoon it was melted away.
Overall looks decent. But as soon as I saw that butter go in that hot pan I knew it was gonna burn badly. Try oil with higher smoke point for frying. Or mix butter with equal parts oil to impart some butter flavour. Nobody likes burnt ass butter
Thanks! I could have done a new video entitled, “How to replace your ignition because you lost both keys and then gain a spare when you find one of them after the fact”. 😂
I'm gonna cruise the clearance sales to see if I can get a deal. Thanks for the review, being from Wisconsin, we speak Canadian too. I understood every word!!! LOL
Thank you for the props! I appreciate the instructional videos gained from and I’m happy to contribute back. Please consider checking out our other videos too!
I actually tried glass too. It resulted in larger pock marks and a very rough finish. With professional equipment and a finer grit of glass than I can get I’ll bet that would be the way to go.
Absolutely! With the Clam Fish Trap cover I use, it has more than enough depth. If you check out my video about using the Clam cover on an Otter flip over or my review video on the shelter, there are some detailed shots of the fit and the modifications I did to make use of the cover. I never owned the Otter cover designed for this flip over to say if it would accommodate the futon or not. I did not like the design of the Otter cover as I needed the integrated cinch straps to keep the cover pinned down during transport on the highway. Hope that helps!
