Thank you :) These are from R&G and yes I drilled those holes by myself. I just put some 2 Euro pieces on it, marked the outlines and drilled it.

Vielleicht wäre ein Vergleich des ausströmenden Wassers aus dem Kühler interessant gewesen… Bei mir ist der Motor so heiß geworden, dass ein Auslassventil sich verbogen hat. Beide Ventilführungen haben extremes spiel. (56.000km)

Dafür fehlt mir leider die richtige Messtechnik, hätte mich sonst auch sehr interessiert… Die Hitzeentwicklung des Motors bzw. die zu geringe Kühlleistung ist wirklich ein Problem

The radiator is supposed to get hotter as more heat is leaving the engine.

Moin, schau dir mal das "Baja No PInch Tool" (googeln) an. Damit bekommst du einen Reifen ohne Probleme und ohne Kraftaufwand in zwei Minuten wieder rauf. Wir haben es probiert! VG Ronald

Love your observation and honesty. The new fan looks better, but the net result is only so-so. It's just like KTM engineers really thought about this. ;-)

Thanks! I dont trust the KTM engineers anymore since they used a cooling system for street bikes on an enduro bike. ;)

Tolle Videos, welche deiner Maßnahmen haben am meisten die Hitze reduziert? Kämpfe auch mit dem Problem. Ich habe den Aktivkohlefilter und Werkzeugkasten ausgebaut damit die Hitze besser abstrahlen kann. Hat etwas Besserung gebracht. Hat der neue Kühler mehr Fassungsvermögen? Grüße aus dem Schwarzwald.

Danke :) Also meine Reihenfolge von am meisten Besserung gebracht wäre: Kühler > Lüfter > Wasserpumpe > Ölkühler (Deckel über dem Filter). Aber schon doof dass man so viel ändern „muss“ wenn man Gelände fahren will. Werkzeugkasten brauche ich leider für Elektrik, ich habe noch überlegt den ABS Block zu entfernen, das ABS benötige ich eh nicht. Aber dann brauche ich auch ein Dongle, neues Bremsleitungen etc. ist schon etwas aufwändiger, aber dann kannste nen 2ten Lüfter verbauen :)

I agree with your comments on TKC80 !! They last for ages … but their grip when off-road is shite ! I’ve crashed twice now ! (Off road I normally use Metzeler 6 day extreme ) They are superb on and off road , but wear out quickly !

The upgraded pump is doing EXACTLY what it's supposed to do. It transfers heat from the engine faster.

Tha makes sense, if the engine is generating the same heat but the radiator is hotter than before it is because the new water pump is more efective extracting the hot from the engine and moving it to the radiator.

Thats bad… I run the radiator since i made that video, gladly no issues so far. As long as you install it correctly it does the job, even better as the stock one. But buy some additional radiator guard, for example the original one from KTM.

Hi, the number is a part number from Husqvarna. KTM does not provide the bracket. Anyway, you can buy it at Husqvarna and it will fit your KTM too if you got some 2020 Model because the radiator is the basically the same. Best Regards :)

Kühler hilft auf jeden Fall spürbar, ist aber auch die meiste Arbeit. Pumpe habe ich nicht sonderlich gemerkt. Lüfter von der LR würde ich aber auf jeden Fall machen, ist günstig und nicht viel Arbeit.

@@andyca6589 bei hohen Geschwindigkeiten hast du eigentlich keine Probleme und genügend Kühlung durch den Luftdurchsatz im Kühler. Bei langsamen Fahrten hast du das nicht und es muss entweder der Lüfter alles wegschaufeln oder die Kühlfläche vergrößert werden. Die Probleme mit der Überhitzung hast du meist wirklich nur mit der Enduro im Enduro-Einsatz.

Vielen Dank für das interessante Video. Ich habe einen 690 Rally-Umbau von der CARBON FOX Group. Die verwenden beim Tower das Windschild der 450 Rally und ebenfalls die Zusatztanks der 450;Rally. Das Motorrad sieht super aus, dennoch muss ich die Teile noch eintragen lassen.

Danke. :) Carbon Fox, Rebel X und Perfect Fairings nutzen das original Windschild der 450 KTM das stimmt. Was ich gerne wissen würde ist ob ein E Kennzeichen auf der Scheibe ist? Das würde die Eintragung deutlich vereinfachen.

Thank you :) Yes I already attached the Husqvarna lettering on both sides and the Husqvarna emblem on the front of the fender, looks awesome. After riding the fender for quite a while i would definitely recommend it!

Hi, I´m trying to let 3D print the cases, but somehow all of the online 3D printing platforms says the 3D model is too small (regardless if I select the provided units in mm or in inch), which it seems to be, once upload it. On the rallyrampage website I couldn´t find any measures or sizes. Can you please give a guidance how to do that the right way, which scale factor to use or which sizes they in real need to have? Would appreciate it much. A bunch of thank in advance and sincere greetings from south Germany

One of my fears was that the EU would adopt the strictest standards (probably TUV) across all of Europe. Thankfully not and Brexit ensured it wouldn’t in the UK although we have plenty of people without enough to do trying to stop our pastime in the name of safety. Good for you in getting your excellent bike passed. I struggle to pick a tower for my 701. Rade Garage is my favourite I think but all have pros and cons. The F5 is very light and neat and seems a decent price for its features. The only issue I struggle with is the indicators which seem to be an afterthought.

If you got the money also check out Carbon Fox and Rebel X, these were my favorites but they were just too expensive. After riding it now for some time I can tell you that if you want some reliable tower you can chose Rade without any headache, just throw away the indicators and use the original ones 👌🏻

@@Speelbird Thanks for getting back. I’ve looked at these two but so true on the price. I need protection and a satnav mount so beyond that is wasted on me really. I looked at the Nomad tower too but there’s massive price increase for the UK over EU that I don’t get. I discover that they don’t send to the UK meaning I have to buy from the UK shop. It’s then so close to the Rade Garage F5 price I’d pay the extra. I’ve had the bike a very short time but tried a fuel dongle which had a marginal effect on the low end lean running but not a massive improvement. Everything else is stock. Did you keep the cat in your exhaust?

@@ianross225 I would not chose the Nomad tower, i heard from my workshop which already assembled a few of them for their customers that the quality is not comparable to the Rade F5. I also enjoy the clean look of the F5 over the Nomad one. But thats just my opinion and what i heard until now. Yes I run the exhaust with the catalyst. Btw the Euro 5 version of this bike runs very very lean compared to the 2020 Euro4 model, if you got a model after 2020 you really need to do something (fuel dongle, power commander).

Ian, you make a good point about the indicators ! I was riding mine just an hour ago. I thought .. “this is shite how they actually rub against the side of the lexan screen. Other than that , I’m pretty happy with the tower. If you buy one , you will utterly love the headlights.

@@Speelbird Ich würde gerne, schaffe ich aber zeitlich nicht. Ich wollte dieses Jahr einfach kurz rüber nach Venlo und einen Teil TET fahren, hab ich auch nicht geschafft. Nächstes Jahr hab ichs etwas ruhiger, dann nehm ich mir Zeit mehr zu fahren und komme gerne mal mit wenn es sich ergibt.

I ordered all these parts but they don't fit properly on my 2017 Husqvarna 701 Enduro. The actual fan housing hits some sort of metal box that is just to the right of the fan. I cannot properly mount the lower radiator arms to the radiator. Be warned this may not work for all.

Hmm thats sad. I guess the metal box is from the ABS block. I did not had any issues at the 2020 model. But thanks for that information that it might not work on the 2017 model.

I suppose so, I was thinking through the options but I would rather have the radiator fitting snug over more cooling power. Thanks for the video though, it was fun to try. @@miro_s that could be some GPS Device that will make a Sound if you hit some Waypoint in a 100m Radius and will also let you know if you are entering some Speed Zone, but at my Bike its only a Cigarette Lighter :)

Noch nicht da ich noch nicht viel gefahren bin und noch nicht mein finales Setup gefunden habe… Grob kann man sagen ja es ist besser aber ich glaube es wäre nicht notwendig gewesen, aber haben ist besser als brauchen :)

Nice setup. I got the 2020 LR model, and I just spent a few months modifying; fuelpump, electrics, heat shields (engine now runs 10C cooler)... Some of my mods are the same, some very different or missing all together. I traveled around the world on older motorcycles and really like the 701 so far.

Thank you! In the beginning I also thought about the LR, but then, coming from an Africa Twin, I decided to get as light as possible (but at least with some HP). The LR ist still some awesome bike and pretty unique on the market. You really got me interested how you decreased the temperature at you bike in detail. You may saw my other vids where i changed everything (waterpump, fan, radiator, cooolant) just to get this problem fixed… I al thankful for every additional idea.

I got the 701 LR bike secondhand with some changes already in place; in total; Rad rally tower, Wings exhaust, RAD air filter & luggage space under the front petrol tank, SAS removal, O2 removal (next to exit exhaust) and maybe also reprogramming of the ECU (previous owner SHOULD have done that with the air filter+exhaust changes!). The previous owner also mentioned something about the water pump, but not certain, I believe it is still stock. I'm not sure if the radiator and fan assembly is different than the non LongRange version? When I started riding the bike in summer (outside temps +26 C) I noticed engine water temps were around >+85C. When riding in the city or slow off road, temps rose quickly to +95C and more, the fan kicks in at around 95C. When riding in winter (outside 5 to 10C) temps are around 80C. After the changes I did myself; temperatures without the RAD luggage compartment under the tank, 10C lower temperature is possible, with the box it is +/- 8C cooler. I have the Cumpan gadget installed, it gives me the exact water temperature (along with revs, gear selection,...). This is what I did; when I looked closely on the placement of the radiator and the configuration/routing of the exhaust pipe, right out of the engine I noticed everything was very close together. I appreciate the engineering research done by professionals but I do believe they could have done a better job, especially because of several owner complaints regarding overheating. So I thought to address the problem as much as possible at the source of the extra added heat; the exhaust. I do believe the placement of the exhaust so close to the radiator and curving close around the engine, attributes to a lot of unnecessary heat on the cooling system. So I tried to isolate the exhaust as much as possible from the rest of the engine & radiator with exhaust tape and some special heat shields (Aliexpres all together about 20 euro). Behind the radiator, I also routed the cabling and rubber radiator hose slightly different, so the radiator has more flow escaping through the back. Costs are minimal and the result is that everything runs about 8C to 10C cooler. I also put in a manual override switch for the fan. Maybe I can send you some pictures, somewhere? You can buy a different thermostat switch that closes at 85C but I wanted to be more in control myself; so a switch. I also thought about installing a low fender, like you did. Not just for better radiator air flow but also for better highway stability at high speeds. But most of these low fender sets that I found are usually badly made and very expensive, besides not very good looking. I also thought already about insulating my exhaust pipe but I heard following from some workshop: If you insulate your exhaust pipe the exhaust pipe will get extremely hot, this heat will be transferred back to the connection between the exhaust pipe and the motor and will damage the gasket and will also create some hotspot on your motor. This is what I heared about, I can’t confirm if it is true or not. But it seems somehow logical so I guess I won’t do it on my bike right now. I also “cleaned” up behind the radiator to have some better airflow through the fins of the radiator, this works well. I still don’t know why KTM designed some smaller radiator on the HQV 701 2020 compared to the KTM 2018 Enduro, I guess it is because of the ABS block behind the radiator that needed some space. Anyway, I managed to install the radiator from some 2018 Enduro R and now everything seems to run quite good as you may saw in one of the latest videos. The Scotts Damper I bought at Rade Garage for 417 Euro back then, still expensive, but right now it costs about 600 Euro… I guess I have been lucky. I also bought the F5 Tower for a total of 1030 Euro back then, best price ever. But I can recommend the damper! I can also recommend the low fender, it holds very well, gives you some better airflow to the radiator and also prevents the radiator to get too much dirt/mud inside. Even if it looks ugly my philosophy is form follows function. So I think my heat issues are solved by now, I just had to change everything inside the cooling circuit :) Best regards

I installed a fuel dongle, and noticed the (standard) fan coming on later and general less heat from the engine. Now I'm installing the bigger fan, and it should cool down faster. Also, I've installed a fan switch override - so I can turn the fan on before getting into a slow speed zone or traffic. Did you keep the bigger fan, or went back to the standard one?

I kept the bigger one, I also did an comparison between some stock 701 and mine with the thermal camera, upload coming within the next weeks :)
