Krawdad (Kevin) and his trusty side-kick, Rusty (Russel) love to hunt and dig for treasures. Based in Klamath Falls, Oregon, there are plenty of outdoor adventures to be had not far from home.
I know some people that go rockhounding just to get a lot of material or really good pieces and they are not happy if they don't get what they went out to look for. I am happy to just get out and enjoy the day and the beautiful area that I am at. And if I find some good pieces that is a bonus. God gave us this beautiful planet to relax and enjoy it. You were in a beautiful area and had a beautiful day, plus you found some pieces, that is a perfect fossil hunt to me. Great video!
Hello again. My ex-wife and I were there in 2022 and from the power pole and the fence below, we were on the same path way as you were on. We found a spot and dug hard for about 5 hours. We found a total of 2 small partial leaves and 1 piece of a fern about an inch long. But we had a good time doing it. God bless you brother. Mac
Thanks, Mac! We’ve wanted to go there for quite some time, but it was always just a little too far out of the way. We’re glad we finally made the trip. Even the road in was beautiful that day, long, but beautiful.
These guys are in a premier location I hope that that works to their advantage, the business of owning a rock shop can be a hard one I've been told, but they are in the center hub of obsidian Opal Sunstone agate petrified wood and Jasper hunting zones that people travel from around the nation to go to, I hope I can make it by in the near future and check out what they got going on thanks for sharing!
What a lovely restoration and maintenance of history as well as magical way to be living and hopefully earning a good living to help those dreams come true - good blessings from here in uk !
What an awesome shop you have! The variety of materials are amazing! The numerous hand made craft items really stand out, and the quality of them are great! The spectacular rough chunks of jasper, petrified wood, and other cool rocks are some of the best I have seen in Oregon, and the prices are well under what I have seen in other shops around the West for a long time! I wish that I had more time (and funds, lol) to see everything while I was there, but I had to skedaddle down the road. I am definitely planning on a return visit before the snow flies! Thanks Dale and Sandy from Natures Mysteries Rock and Gift shop! And thanks Krawdad, Rusty and Company for sharing this place with us! 🤠
@@holliblazer378 We started up the western side, then checked out a few dig site around the top, but ended up finding the most beautiful pieces west of the road on the east side. That’s when we didn’t want to stop digging.👍🏻
Thank you, and “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Rom. 15:13
And once again you have made a good one. I hope to run into you on one of my western adventures someday so I can shake your hand and thank you for all the good things you have shown me. Thanks again Mac
What a place!! Wow! Your selection was awesome! Not sure how you limited it down to just a bucket haha! That specimen of sodalite is STUNNING! Thank you again!
Richardson’s is always a delightful place to go and they’re doing a better job of organizing and presenting the massive amount of material that they have!
Magnificent remodel! Since I’m watching your video timeline backwards..it made this video so very special. I wondered on you previous series of cutting, if you had seen Montana Rock Moms saw! Well done and a super duper, very inspiring makeover!
This sunstone adventure is something I’ve been dreaming of doing for sometime! Thank you for the pointers! Can’t say this enough…you got what it takes to keep people interested EVEN if one isn’t a true rockhound! (What’s wrong with those people 😂) Blessings!
I can’t tell you what is more “gemmy” Alana or the collective! Just kidding, she is a gorgeous little gem! Thank you for sharing this video with us and creating the rock hounding bug in your granddaughter! Memories and rocks last for as long as you keep them an active specimen!
Oohhhh wow that Bronzonite? (Sp?) fantastic specimen. I also thought the fossilized corral was super interesting! I think we need to further investigate that “hot mess” some more! Thanks again for the great show!
I can’t pick a favorite! Great reveals of what’s inside!! Okay, okay…my personal favorite is the partially polished jasper/chert! GORGEOUS! Well done Krawdad!
Absolutely one of the BEST channels I’ve come across for rockhounding adventures and specimen finds! I watch many, many MANY channels and I can tell you will do well in the RU-vid rock hounding arena! Keep up the excellent work, you have a super fan here! Hi Rusty!!
What a whole bunch of really cool finds! Just gorgeous! Some of those smalls had to most vibrant colors! And that one that was wood and is now jasper, is the most beautiful rainbow from green to red to yellow and orange! Absolutely gorgeous! You guys found a perfect mix of what's available there! And the famous green wood, well both yours and hers were awesome! Hers, I have to admit, was spectacular! Are you going to polish the cut side and use it as a stand, for displaying? It really does deserve a place of honor! That piece is phenomenal! And rusty and ruby deserve a treat and a nap! Rusty did a great job of digging and found so much! Awesome video! Thanks❣️
Yeah, that was perfect rockhounding for Rusty… he makes the digging extra fun. That is exactly what I’m going to do with Ruth’s big piece, polish the cut faces and display them!
Agates and jasper are metamorphic forms of quartz. I don't think you will find much of that on this site. There is a lot of oolitic limestone. Oolites are little balls of calcium. They are formed on the bottom of shallow seas that have a lot shells and rapid wave movement.. You can see the shells in many of the specimens from that area. We have a lot of limestone in Oregon. Oolites give limestone a number of desirable qualities. They used a lot of it in places like the Pentagon and the Empire State building. Not all limestone is oolitic, but none of it is agates or jasper.
Thanks for your kind comments! The map we had came from a claim owner there named Emory Coons. He came by while we were setting up camp and gave us his map and lots of helpful information. We saw him everyday we were there. I think he sort of patrols the area so people know where to go and where not to go. Last I knew, Emory and his Dad had an obsidian business located in Burns. If they are still mining there, you won’t need to find him, he will find you.
@@krawdadandrustygreat information we are planning on spending time there in a few weeks. Currently mapping out our area for our spring Rockhounding trip. We will keep our eye out for Emory!
This spring loop was awesome! All the stops along the way were wonderful! Zeolite collecting in all those areas was pretty inreresting! I loved the amygdaloidal pieces! And the mesolite actually made it! Ive not seen huelandite before. There is just so many different zeolites. Im just starting to become familiar with the ones that you see most often. And i love the pet woods! That last one was awesome! Thanks for taking ys on the loop with you! Love seeing Rusty and Ruby too!❤️
