Will be picking one of these up on Monday and one of the main things I noticed during the test drive was that the ride was a bit harsh over bumps. I was thinking of doing an air spring conversion for at least the rear so I would have the ability to level the ride when loaded and lower the rear when loading and unloading. It would also improve the ride like in any work truck. Have you ever heard of a ready made kit for something like that or am I venturing into unknown territory? Great vid btw.
Hi there this is a great vid thanks for the informative content. I've got an HA4 needing some new boots. I checked your website and I can only find the boots for the Sambar. Could you direct me where to buy? Thank you. These are the ones I need (HA4 truck) -front inner split boots -rear inner OEM -rear outer OEM
I got a 97 Subaru Sambar Truck and 97 Subaru Sambar Van last month love them both I got some stuff from your website.Waiting for some parts to become available again.
@@OhKeiGarage Thanks, The 99’ is so new to our market, there’s not that many parts yet. Every part I find seems to go to 98’ or older which adds to the confusion. Appreciate your reply.
1 last question? How much does a dirty fuel filter hurt mileage? I was just on your site….is this part of your 3 piece kit for oil, air and fuel? I couldn’t find the fuel filter separately? Thanks Thanks from Missouri
Hey, im living in japan for a bit and im planning on taking my 98 sambar minivan to the states with me. What are some parts that commonly go bad on these things? I want to bring a handful with me
Would you be willing to do a video where you re-assemble the choke set piston side of the carb in fine detail? detailing the order of spacers, washers, and linkages? It's been a puzzle for me and there aren't really any resources for someone like me (who didn't take better notes and pictures)
I’m starting to look at Kei trucks. I really liked the Honda Acty when I saw it but I’ve seen enough videos and learned enough about the Sambars that I’ve changed my mind and now want a Sambar. Trying to decide if I’ll find one that someone is selling or if I’ll just buy directly from Japan and have them ship it to me. Unfortunately even tho I’m in Tampa Bay it looks like that is not one of the ports that can accept imports at least on the Kei trucks. Means I’ll have to drive all the way up to Tallahassee would be the closest. Any ideas or suggestions are much appreciated
What are the chances you could see if the carbed distributor will fit where the fuel injected distributor was. As it sits no one makes fuel injected distributor caps and i think my acty is dead until i can fix issues with the wear on the cap
So not powered by gerbils. Good to know. Really great detailed tutorial, thank you!, but I think my best option is moving to Buckley WA. ❤This is a ❤for Oh Kei Garage comment, not "hate speech" so please don't block me again YouBube ❤
I needed this video last year before I paid someone else to do it 😢. Thank you though for all the content and parts . I really appreciate it. My truck has a ton of much needed parts thanks to you
Careful with putting lube between the bearing and the journals, that will often lead to the bearing spinning and can be catastrophic. It should normally be a tight friction fit between them
If anyone is interested we have this exact model showing up in the states in the next few months! Military family lived in Japan for 4 years and are bringing this bad boy home. Please reach out if interested in buying!
Would you know what the part number is of the melted piston that you said was bad on the parts carb? Mine appears to be bad and I want to replace it, but cannot find the part number anywhere.
My very first car was a 1992 Subaru legacy and I absolutely loved that car, everything was logical and easy to service... The fuel filter was right on top on the right side... The AC was a beast and the only reason it stopped working is because my mother was a spoiled woman who would turn it on full blast, then turn the heat on full blast while in bumper to bumper instead of moving the temperature slider which caused my AC clutch to seize, she would also drive it over 100mph when she was late for court, etc... everybody hates the automatic seatbelts, but as a proud uncle I was happy to see that my nephew was looking like a gentleman with his seatbelt on, that car was a blessing from God, after riding the bus to work and back and my mom's ford explorer getting attempted robbed because I caught the guy breaking the window with a crowbar... Obviously we weren't living in the best neighborhood, but back to the car, if you treat her right shell do the same in return
I think these are neat and very sensible vehicles and even the newer models should be allowed in the U.S.A. and legal in all states as an affordable commuter option perhaps legally not allowed on an interstate highway. The powers to be are trying to push the EV thing which neither the vehicles or infrastructure for that technology is ready for prime time yet. But there are decent fuel mileage affordable transportation vehicles that will help make transportation more affordable and get much better fuel mileage than the oversized gas guzzling SUV's that families are driving on our streets today! Biggest drawback right now is the legal importable age and the limited availability of replacement parts. I still have my "98 model AWD Astro van which is a 4.3 v-6 and although it lacks the fuel mileage capability of these KEI trucks parts are much easier to source and power wise it can easily maintain interstate speeds going uphill while running the a/c which I find a plus. Even these older smaller Astro vans are starting to develop almost a cult following in some areas of the country.
Just wondering if you ever clean down your engine bays for clients and do you have a video for that? I rwcently cleaned mine after watching your video on the air box and how dirty and grimey it was from the box drain. To checkbthat all the old grease and grime wasn't from anything else
Beware: I'm out 70 bucks, they sent me an email in Japanese and I can't translate it. I reply to the email telling them to send it in English and nothing happens. I may have to try to get Paypal to get my money back. My experience so far is that 500 yenshop sucks.
