This was an amazing project and you are a brilliant engineer. You mentioned your dad was a “true EE” so I assume you are not one. I have a MSEE and worked in the RF industry. Let me tell you sir that you would outshine most all of the engineers I’ve ever worked with. I cannot recommend enough for you to get your EE degree - it would be a breeze for you. Our country needs brilliant engineers like you!!!
Nice work. I've been developing 'cross platform' apps using Xamarin Forms for a number of years. But tbh I've never been satisfied with a lot of the options, just as with web development I feel everything is so overcomplicated and needs you to redevelop apps every few years which is exhausting. I'm a bit fed up with Java and C# /.NET and all the frameworks built on top of them and this is how I found your video. I'm not a C programmer although I did a bit of C and C++ when I was learning. I might give this a try. Do you know if there is any way to use native UI components?
It's truly baffling that after 8 friggin years after this video was released, people still come to seethe at Charles' personal life choices as if they were of any consequence at all to the people seeing the video. Some people even saying that they "didn't like religion being brought into the channel" are you people for real? Have you got no shame at all? As if it was your prerogative to communicate such thoughts instead of keeping them to yourselves, as if you had the right to push a man toward changing or hiding an integral part of his life simply because you're too childish to accept others' dreams and prides? This guy, like many others, has given immense amount of knowledge FOR FREE to the whole world, driven by his own passion for sharing and discovering, and you people have the audacity to come to him to angrily vent your own rebukes and ask him to change for your own benefit? You people should be disgusted at yourselves. Learn to comprehend and admire others for what they are instead of trying to trip them into feeling guilty of your own prejudices. FFS
*The concept is SO COOL!* I have used a website about 10 Years ago, that used a Java web application to Transmit Audio to a AM Radio (I think, maybe it was FM). It used CPU EMI. 😮 (Sadly can't find it anymore) Security researchers also used GPUs to get data off of Air-Gapped systems.
This is freaking awesome. You can essentially create the baseband using a cheap micro + 900MHz SAW + gain block. BTW, it's "megacycles" not "megasamples".
Every now and then I come back to this video and think about making one on my own. It seems Waveshare actually started selling a 7.3 inch version in a wooden picture frame! They sure know their audience
Wow! i kept skipping this video cause i thought it would just be opinion and reaction style youtube garbage. this is WAY cool! like genius cool! my mind is blown
16:50 That's because Nyquist ist always explained incorrectly, even in academic literature. The original theorem clearly says "bandlimited signal" meaning bandwidth and included different Nyquist-zones that can be used for sub-Nyquist sampling. The only condition is that the bandwidth of the generated or sampled signal is smaller than fs/2. And many people don't seem to understand this.
Maaan, I ordered that same 7-color e-ink display the same time as you, but mine never arrived. Waveshare claimed the package had been turned back at US customs for some reason but only after I waited weeks and weeks and had to hound them for an explanation and refund. Disappointed I never got to do projects with it.
@16:55 regarding Fs/2 Nyquist sampling not being the full story: the Pirates of the Caribbean, "more like guidelines," meme would have worked here too.
This could conceivably be used as an attack vector to spy on or even take over air-gapped systems, by infecting some microcontroller either in the system or in one of the peripherals, like a USB webcam or keyboard. And given that the power is extremely low and hidden in the already existing RF noise emanated from the system. It would be very hard to detect unless you were specifically looking for it.
I wonder what tricks you could manage using a 'vintage' computer like a commodore PET, C64 or Tandy TRS-80? G7VFY And I wondered if you were a radio ham?
I am surprised you didn't make your own laminator from a junk laser printer. I have old uv film and it seems too old, it comes out like poop with bubbles and inconsistency. I have been working on doing a direct laser to pcb print, was using brother printer, but then I got a free copy machine, seems it might be easier. Have you thought of doing this? At this point, my 3 weeks was up and my boards showed up from China, so less interested, but I need other boards. thanks
There's a project which utilises the same principle caled RPiTX, it can be used to transmitt all sorts of signals and modulations using the GPIO pins on a Raspberry Pi
