I watched it once, knew it was a very good and well-made movie, and vowed never to watch it again.

I LOVED it. I thought they could have cut about 20 minutes out of it and lost nothing, but that didnt ruin it for me. It perfectly captures the way i felt as a scared kid. Its like the first time you become conscious of the idea that your parents might hurt you either actively or circumstantially, that there is danger in the world that you are not safe from, powerlessness, darkness, etc. It's the feeling that i think my love of horror comes from ultimately.

Honestly, my partner and I had such a blast watching Longlegs. I’ve been slowly getting him to watch old horror slashers like Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I’ll explain how cinematography and sound design were such key features to the suspense within older horror films. We just were so into it with the sounds queuing up something and how certain scenes set up frames within frames and make you look for “you don’t know what” edging you into fear and misdirection. Some of it felt heavily influenced by analog horror but knowing that there was also an ARG as the advertising for the movie I wasn’t too surprised. It’s all around just such an Experience watching this movie!

I just kind of saw it as a Christian version of Thomas Ligotti's The Frolic.

The movie, itself, seems long. Almost like nothing hit the cutting room floor.

I grew up in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. This movie was a super buzz around my older friends. I finally watched it before Star Wars came out in 77. There is something magical and so enticing about this movie. I was 9 when I first watched it. It changed me somehow. Part comic book so I could follow and part horror to make me afraid. Everyone watched this movie at a different age for the first time. I am forever changed because of this film. No other film affects me the same way. It just came along at that perfect time…. For me

The eraser head baby is a curious piece, it’s supposed to be a representation of a disabled baby. But that leads to a question; is it albeist? It’s completely understandable for a parent to be stressed out about taking care of a disabled child, but to display them as something grotesque, monstrous, and possibly evil is kinda fucked up. Of course it can be taken in different ways, if you’re supposed to sympathize and be fully on Henry’s side it is very albeist to portray this baby like this, but on the other hand if you go against Henry and see him as a vile man then you can understand that perhaps this baby doesn’t really look like that and it’s just how Henry sees it due to his hatred for it. It really depends on what your viewpoint on Henry is.

The start of the movie was so good, I was so excited to watch it, but towards the end it lost me. Idk, I guess the beginning made me expect something different

I really enjoyed this film and was also super excited to see it. I loved the main character, the acting, the tone and atmosphere, the cinematography and sound design, even the underlying themes. However... For someone who adores and often watches surreal, intticate stuff, this is like the third time in my whole life where I left thinking "damn... I don't get it?." Like yeah, I think I understand the themes and symbolism, but the last 15 minutes legit made me go "...why." Why presenting the metaphors this way? Why now? I wanted to understand! The ending grew on me quite a lot after a few days, but I think this film would've packed a bigger punch with a more "direct" approach to its themes towards the end, like The Babadook, Pearl, Crash, etc. Like you say, it is a very well done horror film, but it could've been life-changing to me if they fleshed out the themes more, in a conclusive way.

I just ran across your channel, as a person who loves 'er some disturbing movies -- this is the second vid of yours I've seen and I gotta tell ya, I wasn't sure about you at first, but then while watching this one, i think I "get you" now. I guess you had to grow on me -- but you HAVE -- in a good way! You're hysterical! First I have to tell you -- about "trash humpers" and, yes, I'm familiar with Harmony Korine's movies, but having said that, when I lived in Minneapolis several years ago,, there was a guy in our neighborhood who used to walk around wearing nothing but speedos (not even flipflops). Every once in a while and he would go up to one of the parked cars and "hump" against it -- for maybe five minutes or so, then he'd move on. -- We called him The Bumper Humper. He literally humped bumpers! Cops were called a dozen times, they knew him, but he kept doing it. Also want to say that I've enjoyed disturbing films for a long time - big fan of Jodorovsky, plus avant-garde film, the Dadists, the Cubists, the Surrealists, plus Warhol. John Waters, etc. etc. But see I'm a boomer -- I'm pretty cool, I mean, I don't call the grandchildren before I go on vacation and tell them not to send me any email or it might "overload my machine." Don't laugh, my sister has done that... But here's the problem, NOBODY is interested in or wants to talk about disturbing movies and CERTAINLY not disturbing animation -- GASP! I LOVE animation from Bugs Bunny to Salad Fingers, but you think anybody in my demographic wants to talk about disturbing films? SO... just saying hi, you probably could care less, I guess I just wanted to say hi and say I'm a new fan and I'm sorry if I'm babble-texting, but there is a good possibility that I am wicked high.

I liked High Tension a lot as a teen. I thought the imagery and violence were very striking and it was my introduction to French extreme horror (unless you count Irreversible, which I don't). I still have the bootleg copy of High Tension I got on eBay in 2003-2004 under the title Switchblade Romance. I also saw the baaaaaaaaaaaad R-rated cut in theaters. Sure, the ending sucks and is kind of homophobic, but I'm not a "bad ending ruins entire movie" guy. Those people are the fucking worst.

Just got out of the movie theater, here in russia noone really gave a shit about longlegs so i was almost alone in the theatre. I was a bit dissapointed, the movie looks fantastic but i cant help but not be impressed by any of this, the script just didnt do it for me. Felt empty after seeing this, i was really excited to see it and then its nothing idk im rambling On another note yesterday i listened to fluids and it was absolutely amazing (never want to experience it again lol) its really sad that a lot from this book was taken from Mays life but it makes me so happy that May is alive and creative im so glad i found her
