Every quilt has a story - it's our job to start the story!
Russ has been quilting since 2009. He's had a lot of fun exploring techniques, playing with color, and learning to long arm. He's thrilled to share his adventures with you!

I went back & looked & found your notification! Sorry about that. But i`m here now. So sorry about all your pain & suffering, Prayers sent for better days ahead. Loved the deer playing
Great video. Thanks for the update on your pets. I really enjoy hearing and seeing how they are doing lately. I really like seeing pictures of Riley and Percy. Thanks again for another fun video.
Did you see the quilt that Jenny did or Missouri called Braided Irish Chain ,it’s a pattern from another person and I can’t recall her name right now …I am going to order the pattern…
I love the fall fabrics and colors…Love your black birds, yesterday had to drive a friend to the hospital and while I was waiting a lady in a mobile scooter came out from the hospital with a black bird sitting on her scooter…she got by her car ,opened the door and the bird jumped in…How cool was that…
Russ, I can relate to the infection issue. I’ve been looking for an endodontist to redo a root canal that is infected. Been on antibiotics for a month and a half.
Tom, your quilt is fabulous 😂 Ear infections are the worst. I'm glad your doing better. Cat pro tip (ASPCA Pro certified) if a cat is in a tree in the future it can get down on its own. Smelly food at the base of the tree will encourage departure. A cat can hide for up to 7 days without resources and when they feel safe they will come down. I wish I could share a photo of one of the fixed feral cats we have. He sleeps in the crook of a cherry tree and climb down backwards. He also enjoys hunting squirrels on our roof.
So sorry about your ear infection! That is so nasty!! Hope you are better now! Thanks for sharing your week! I’ve been sewing bags of all shapes and sizes for my granddaughter (college). Laundry mesh bag for personal items, small personal pouch, 2 grocery bags, a couple bowl cozies, and now to do some pot holders! It’s been fun ! Have a great week Russ!! Feel better
I can relate to both kitty stories. First Felix needed to be rescued from our tree, because my big bad Noble (Felix's new brother, the small GSD mix who hadn't been around many cats prior to Felix moving to Nevada from Colorado) chased poor Fe Man up in my apple tree. Then there's Oreo, our rescue cat who will not allow anyone to pick her up, but she enoys being brushed....on her terms. Occasionally, I can persuade her and her clumps to cooperate. I haven't had to purchase the gloves that the falcon handlers use....yet. but there may come a time 😂. I hope the treed kitty is okay...both Felix and Oreo were/are tuxedo cats. Now on to Tom, sorry that happened to you; but I have another relatable story about doppelgangers. My son has one. The dude's name is Luke Combs. Luke is a young country singer who's extremely popular these days. My son probably couldn't carry a tune in a bucket; not even when alcohol is involved 😂. Lastly, heres hoping the ear is better soon! Have a great week!
I use a small cutting mat when joining the ends of my binding on a quilt. It’s easy to slip under the ends while I mark, pin, and stitch them together.
That quilt store has sooooo much fabric! WOW!!! Loved this video, you have so many funny stories 😂😂. ….. And you are soooo busy! Thanks for sharing all of your activities… You laugh! Have a great week… By the way, want to share some ice cream??😂😂😂
They have three storefronts, too! It was a little worse before they had the third storefront to move their tread into. They have practically EVERYTHING, but you need to know what you want.
Wow, something else in common! My brother “Russ”, and, we also lived in Sumter!! Much earlier than you did, as my kids are your age, and I was in 8th grade. But, I really liked that little town!
Depending on the timing, there's a possibility you could have met at least one of my parents! I met a guy a few years back. He moved to Sumter when I moved away. We got to talking and found out he had known dad back in the day, because he frequented the service station dad worked at.
I shopped this week at a store that’s closing out ,oh my gosh I could have mortgaged the house ,the fabric was beautiful and all 50% off….108 for 8.00 a meter..I got 14 different kinds…
Looks like an interesting yet good week. Noble had a friend at daycare named Lulu too. Not sure if he was the adopted big brother, or the boyfriend 🤔. He's a small GSD mix and she was a little Chihuahua ❤. Onto your ice cream story...recently I wanted homemade ice cream, but I didn't want to make the custard or use my ice cream maker. I bought heavy whipping cream and condensed milk. Prior to whipping it up, I put the bown in the fridge and my metal bread loaf pan in the freezer. It was certainly rich! I had a small scoop prior to the completion of its freezing, and it was quite creamy. The next day after lunch, I cut myself a slice of ice cream 😂. It was delicious and very satisfying! I must say, it kept my portion control in check 😊. I forgot to write that besides the heavy cream and condensed milk, vanilla was in the recipe as well and I added some oreos. I do want to figure out a fudge swirl scheme next time!
None of you had Bernina machines. That surprised me. If you do a future Sewcial Review about machines, I’d like to know if your feed dogs are 5.5 mm or 9 mm (that’s what Bernina makes). Some of us have trouble piecing with 9 mm machines, but love them for decorative stitches.
I think a major reason we don't is the price. Most quilters use a straight stitch, as we discussed, so the decorative stitches for a 9mm is probably lost on us. There was a comment about a straight-stitch needle plate for our machines during the episode. Maybe there's similar for Bernina when you're doing straight stitching only.
@@QuiltMeetsWorld Yes, there is a single hole needle plate available. The main problem is that the feed dogs are so far apart on a 9 mm machine, that when you try to make a 1/4-inch seam allowance, very little fabric is in contact with the right side feed dog, and the fabric pulls to the left. People come up with different ways to deal with this. That’s why I was interested in the width of your feed dogs.
oohh... probably! I didn't want to impact the recipe any before I knew how it would come out. Like, adding mixins would be difficult if they just sink.
I'm going to try the small mat on my live today. I already have my travel mat nest to the machine I use as my cutting over here. But, this way, it can be on camera.
You watched the spoilers? Well, I guess some people do that. I've done it with other boxes :) I think the labels are cool, and, like I said, it works perfect with a quilt I'm making.
I use the little cutting mat for when I’m squaring up a lot of small blocks. That way I don’t wear out my larger mat cutting it the same area. Try it next time you are having to square up. I actually buy them at the dollar tree for that reason.
Yeah -- I keep meaning that I need a square up mat. But, it's always just as easy to use a larger mat. I'm usually all around with the mat so I don't wear it out as fast.
