I'm about to make something like this and was checking first to see what others have done. I've bought PVC pipe that's slightly larger than the Watersnake Venom 44lb (WS44) handle, planning on packing it with some pool noodle foam for grip and gaffa tape to secure it in place. In my Freak Torpedo 14, the motor is a ways back, so I'll need to extend the pipe I have. Aiming to have a removable part, this time a larger diameter as that's all I have right now and I'm heading out at dawn, smaller in diameter. I'll experiment with cutting slots, bolts, clickers, rubber rings, different seals, until I find a way to make it easily detachable. I have a WS24 with a specialized setup for stern rigging. Bought the WS44 for island hoping. To remove the widow maker transom I had to take of the head and when putting it all back together I was not overly impressed with the join. Unlike the WS24, it does not seal tight which has me concerned in the event of a capsize. My theory is that as Watersnake only market up to the 24lb thrust motor for kayaks, with anything beyond that for boats, they have not bothered about making the head watertight. My idea is to use a liquid gasket, or perhaps an external option, to make it so. Welcome any thoughts anyone might have about the above. As for the limitations you're experiencing with steering, try putting the end lower down. Poke it in the right place and you'll have no problems at all mate. 😉
Question... When you removed that footpad is there an access hole under it or just the screw holes? Get some marine grade buoyancy foam, not that Great Stuff in a can, and fill in the bottom.
Dude. there is a 120 acre pond across from the St John's Town Center, on the other side of I-295. I have caught several over 8 pounds and 1 12lb from the bank.
I used metal pipe this way the noodle it tight and will not roll as it would not plastic pipe.if your using plastic please glue the noodles to the plastic pipe
the grandpa rant made me sub lol. great videos bubbles keep up the good work. just picked up the same reel, spooled it with 20lb braided line, about to take it to the gulf this weekend. Cheers!
@@reeljourney I've never seen it or used it. And I'm not trying to give you a hard time - it just looks like an unnecessary piece of gear. That's all. Happy fishing though brother.
