Hey everyone Steve here at SKS Props and I want to thank you for checking out my channel. I am a husband, father, and multi award winning professional Cosplay fabricator located in St. Louis, Missouri. I have made a name for myself in the Cosplay community by not only creating extremely detailed builds based off of popular video games and pop culture media, but by then freely sharing the tips and techniques used in the construction process to make you a better builder.
Not long ago I developed a line of high density EVA foam products ( HD-Foam ) specifically designed for prop and costume fabrication and currently I am working on educational RU-vid videos and build threads ( www.SKSProps.com ) where I demonstrates the fabrication skills required to help you build your own amazing creations.
The poster option is on adobe acrobat and done reader in the print settings after you click print. That scales it properly over several sheets. You can also watch the how to print templates video
Just watched your pirate hat vid. Awesome. I am in my 60's and don't get out much anymore but I have made Ren fair and steampunk costumes in the past. Right now I am starting on 1:6 scale costumes and settings for my dolls. I am very low tech, can you tell me how to print your Halloween masks in 1:6 scale? ❤
hey i love your cosplays but i really want to know how you can change the size of the template cause for me its too big and im tryin to make the red hood chest armour
Hey sks! I bought somw of your 10mm and 6mm HD foam. Any advice on how to cut thru the 10mm as easy as you do? Cant seem to stay on the outline i drew on the foam. It's high density for sure😅
Make sure you are constantly sharpening your knife after every few cuts. Foam dulls the blade very quickly so I use a kershaw knife sharpener all of the time. High density just means that it’s less porous, not a harder foam. Low density foam dulls the blades even quicker
Superb work man! This is incredible, I've never done anything like this before, but I am a huge fan of anything Dwarf related. This has inspired me and now I want my own Dwarf armoury! I cant wait to see the finished product.
Awesome video! I'm not looking to make a skull but I am looking at various methods for making antlers, and this has definitely given me some new ideas to think about. I'm curious about wrapping the wire though; is that just for strength? Why not just use a thicker gauge? And did the dowels hold the antlers tight on their own, or would movement need to be a bit limited or slowed to avoid them falling out? I've used a dowel in PVC for a connector before, but I had to reinforce/tighten it with layers of tape to really make it snug. Thanks for all the info!
Thanks! No wraping the wire with foil is to bulk it out and give it a more organic base structure for the foam clay to attach to. You'd still have to do that even with a thicker guage wire. I don't have any issue with the dowels coming loose they create a snug fit.
I have a Dust Right 1250CFM dust collector which I have plumbed to 4 places in my shop. I notice your dust collector is 800CFM, but you have it only in the one place. perhaps that is why I have trouble with dust everywhere even with my dust collector!
The thing that really saves the air pull is having the cyclone in between the sanding station and dust collector. It separates almost all of the resin / foam dust so it doesn’t clog the collectors air intake
Thanks so much for everything you do! Your work always looks amazing and I look forward to seeing more of it. I have question though, and an odd one at that. I am looking to make a skullie mask with a lower jaw like a snake- one that can split in the middle. I am hoping I would be able to open the mouth and the split jaws more or less at the same time. I would have asked on your skullie mask videos, but I figured here might be better for visibility! Thank you in advance!
