Francisco Alvarez....not only his bat, and his positive energy....but he made Quintana and Manea pitch like aces for awhile. Iglesias right behind him.
Tough choice. I don’t think there is one. It has been a collective effort where Martinez was the initial catalyst and then Torrens, Alvarez, Iglesias, Bader, Lindor, and Nimmo took it from there.
Great episode! Launching Diekman into the sun? I felt that lmao. For the right field situation since you mentioned Conforto, it's a real bummer that Drew Gilbert's injury kept him out so long because he would've been the perfect guy to call-up when Marte got hurt. Taylor and Stewart are just not cutting it.
Let's give Carlos Mendoza some credit. He's juggled a flawed roster and handled injuries like s seasoned pro, not a rookie skipper. The current roster is'nt built to play Mendy's preferred style tactically. It's obvious, his philosophy is to be aggressive on the basepaths and defensively which requires speed and athleticism. The current roster construction is not condusive to speed and athleticism but power, station to station on the basepaths, and sit back for the three run dinger. It will be interseting to see how this evolves under Stearns and Mendy. Have a safe and fun vacation ladies. Take care.
Congrats to the Mets for rallying back from eleven under to being right in the forefront of the wild card chase. Was wondering what the Mets fans think is going to happen with Pete Alonso. Whether they will trade him or attempt to resign him in free agency.
The synergy that Iglesias and Bader have brought to this team is infectious. They have both been clutch as well. Lindor and Nimmo have been good lately. Martinez has been majorly problematic since him being a catalyst a month and a half ago.
I agree that Mendoza’s bullpen management is costing Mets wins. He is inconsistent. Scott’s last outing he pushes him to try and complete an inning when he was obviously gassed and at 99 pitches until he gives up a 3 run homer. Then he removes him when he is cruising with one out left and at 77 pitches and the game blows up. It seems he manages to some analytical based game plan and fails to manage according to the game he sees being played in front of his face. Baseball has a human element and needs to be managed with instinct and not just statistics. The Mets should be holding a wild card spot if better decisions had been made with utilizing starters and relievers.
Sorry, but I have to combat against the "snub" narrative to a degree here. Nimmo didn't even make top 20 in votes among NL outfielders despite him being a top 5. Lindor was behind Harrison Bader and Starling Marte. Pete Alonso got the most votes out of the whole team. Alonso and Olsen were battling for 3rd in voting for first basemen. We can't get mad when we, ourselves, don't show up to support our players when it comes to All-Star voting. Same when it comes to Christian Walker of the Diamondbacks. He was 8th in terms of voting despite him being much better than Pete this year. We have to show up for these players and show support if we want them to be in the all-star game. It's the Mets. If we don't support our own players, no one else will.
Agreed on fan voting, just wish the commissioners office would actually pick the players most deserving statistically and not just fan favorites. Lindor is only one of top 15 players in WAR to not be an All Star
u have to put in consideration all the other shortshops and outfeilders that made the team and they might just need s 1st basebman from the mets and Alonso is their best bet
baiting heaving should be a crime cause lindor with a .759 is not AS😂Nimmo might be a different case but what about Alonso it should of been Walker soo again no. Those two should not be in the ASG
Francisco Lindor may be the most polarizing ballplayer to apply his trade in Flushing since George Foster. That being said, Lindor is a criminally underrated talent. His tenure got off to a rocky start with the "rat or raccoon" incident with McNeil and the "thumbs down" movement started by his buddy Javier Baez. In the interval since, we have seen Lindor mature into the leader he claimed to be upon his arrival in Flushing and reclaim his game. That being said, Lindor's omission from the All-Star Game is ridiculous, how many shortstops in the National League are better? If the Mets qualify for the postseason, Lindor is an MVP candidate, how is he not an All-Star? Pete and Brandon don't deserve All-Star consideration as much as it pains me to say. In hindsight, Francisco Lindor's time in New York has become reminiscent of Reggie and A-Rod's time in the Bronx, a "love-hate" relationship with "Ebbs and flows" of disgust and admiration. As always, the production value and chemistry between Samantha and Ashley is high quality. Your show is time well spent ladies, keep it up, the future is bright!
Lindor was the only Met worth garnering an all-star nod. Nimmo nice solid season but not all-star level. Alonso snubbing Christian Walker is an absolute joke. I'd even give Reed Garrett a nod over Alonso all day. You ladies had me until you said the Mets are a better all-around team than the Yankees. I can't stand either team, but Mets rotation one of worst in MLB. Zero ace on the staff.
Agree Alonso only got in the all star game for the home run derby. I did read on espn that this year we have 32 first time MLB All Stars which is mind blowing to me. I haven’t watched the All Star game in over a decade so I’ll be watching reruns of Frasier and Columbo instead.
I've learned a long time ago that is don't matter if Mets fans voted because in the end, The casual fans will out vote fanbase voting, so there's that & the all-star event was much more than just popularity contest & cool clicks, it's used to be about #'s, stats & merit. But that's cool because in the end, Lindor & Nimmo will always be Mets real all-stars. Great Job Ladies! P.S. Lindor & Nimmo > All-Start Event
I do not like Mendy pulling Nunez with 2 outs in the 8th. He just struck out Robert's and deserved the next batter. I give Mendy tons of credit but his trigger finger when it comes to pitchers leaves much to be desired!
