Farmer on the Prairie is about my life on our central Illinois farm. My name is Seth and I am a young farmer with the desire to get things done and to keep the farm running smoothly. The farm is 740 row crop acres and 100 acres of pasture. We run about 100 grass-fed cattle and 1500 meat birds a year. Throughout my videos, you will get to know Dad, MommaD, and Sister. My brothers Josiah and Luke help us whenever there is a big project so they can feel important. We also have a part time employee Ben who is the comic relief. Because so many different things happen on our farm, there is never a dull moment. So tap that Subscribe button and come along for the ride!
Nice but your lucky. We had to mix hog feed like that but bye lifting or shoveling it all in except. Ears of corn we ran that in by using the corn crib or gravity box.
You don't feel mowing alfalfa w/out crimper hurts in any way. We have diskbine and at the time I was having trouble deciding which way to go w/ alfalfa/grass.
How many lbs per acre did you seed the alfalfa? Was the rate double or just half split twice? Have been interested in learning more about organic, so looking forward to future videos. Thanks
Good stuff!! Just added a Claas 480 baler. Trying to figure out the net wrap. Did all the setting from the manual. Going to try again. Sounds like the net can be tricky? Your bales look great. Thank you for the video.
The other thing I would suggest is to paint the expanded metal flat black. You will be amazed how easy it is to see thru when you do that. Cuts out a lot of the reflection.
I just bought a new M6-141 and am planning on adding the Ag Leader In command 800 and steady steer system. Thanks for the video. Can you give me the name of the dealer you used for it?
R u guys using organic to feed the chickens you guys are raising or have ? If so how much $ per bag does it cost in your area . Just wondering. Or are you making your own and making it organically but not certified yet ? Organic feed costs a fortune here , I don't use it but believe in it . Great job u guys , hopefully sister still gets in the video
Excellent video Seth and Dad! Tremendous amount of respect for your decision to switch to organic farming and your commitment to the process of changing over. Certainly don't need any extra difficulties during the transition. Prayers and best wishes for your success!
Just to let y’all know this video was recorded at the end of March so it is not current as far as field work that we have completed. Just took longer to put up than I expected.
Hi sir I am from India and I want to know about rye cover crop actually here weather is different than US so here is winter starts from November to Feb and we start rice sowing in June and July and we sowing wheat November to April so in April weather is hot so what could I use as cover crop for rice ?
Do y’all plan on acquiring more acreage seeing that organic farming requires far more space to produce the same amount of product as conventional farming?
God speed in your new venture. I have enjoyed watching your videos. I look forward to learning about organic farming. Thank you again for sharing your farming experience and knowledge. God bless you and your family.
