Great to see older machinery still being used....you had everything running to optimum from what I could see. Picking the swath up from the outside of the pick-up so it has more time to even out before it's fed into the chamber is the sign of a very experienced operator! ( I still run a IH440 behind a MF135...near Gisborne) Thanks for the video.
The bales are made shorter than hay bales. At 50-60% moisture content they would be unmovable if they were full size. We use a New Holland 386 baler. Excellent baler for the job.

The bales are deliberately made shorter than hay bales. At 50-60% moisture content they would be unmovable if they were full size. We use a New Holland 386 baler. Excellent baler for the job.

Funny you should mention that your dad has a MF390 2WD. I now have the same tractor. Brilliant machine too. The mower conditioner I bought last season make a great combination and the baler is a perfect match too. See my other videos and find the one called BT Contracting. Cheers
When the field is being sprayed, the tractor and sprayer compact the ground where the wheels regularly run. This ripper breaks up the soil to eliminate soil compaction on those wheel lines.
@brian93ist Yes, the shoes (more like saucers actually) do run on the ground and they do wear out. I reckon more of these rust out through poor winter storage then wear out through mowing. No cover. Yep. Not a good idea but that is how it came to me. I now have a PZ Greenland CM 168 with a full cover. It is a much nicer mower with the ability to move it from work to transport position from the tractor seat. Excllent mower.
@taylortribe750 i looked at a ccm mower the other day it is based on the pz desighn i think they had the first drum mower how do they hold up my friemd has a disc mower and the shoes that run on the ground wear out this should have something like that i also noticed there is no cover on this mower? a cover would help from rocks and stuff hitting you on the tractor
@MrBfg1978 The tractor is now working hard in Tonga! Sadly I had to upgrade to a 2001 New Holland to get my work done more easily. Thanks for the comment!
With this power command, if you were lets say in 12th gear and approaching a junction would you depress the brake and cluch whilst changing down gears to slow down as you approached or would you just depress brake and then let off as you continued on to the other road. In other words would you need to change down gears with clutch to slow down and continue or just brake and let off again?
I know this is 9 years later, but 12th gear is your max set off gear. If you come to a junction at any gear above 12th, and press the clutch, it will shift down to 12th automatically, and when you set off again, it will shift back up to the previously selected gear automatically.
