In my industry, when union workers strike, they affect everyone down line of them that aren’t union. They whine about their unskilled labor pay only to completely fuck people down line who took time out of their life to learn a skill and aren’t complaining about it. Unions are a fucking joke!
Did the unions put millions and sometimes billions at risk in the business? If you do not risk your money you don't have a right to the profits. This strike will just speed up automation at US ports.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 investors hardly ever invest their own money. And besides how do you propose they got those millions? You think they outwork the competition? Or maybe they exploited their workers for those profits like every boss throughout history. Your perspective is adorable though and I respect your right to it, while laughing and disagreeing with it. Lol
You're making way too much sense Sports figures news reporters entertainers they all make millions of dollars a year what do they do for you but people think workers aren't worth 10 cents
People been taking workers for granted for a long time. Only time I seen workers respected was during a pandemic and that respect lasted 10 minutes or so.
We should definitely and it's why domestic manufacturing has gone up. Even still you need the ports because the economy is global so we would still want to take advantage of global markets.
Let's see, we have until January 2025. You are right, there is never the right time. Let us see what is next in negotiations, hopefully they are not preparing to prepare against and be infavor for the ILA.. Question is the AFL CIO going to revert from 1963, and be against the No strike clauses, and parent body union impunity.
I wish the AFC-CIO would adopt the CIO portion of their history more. If they truly want to expand unions they will embrace a return to classic unionism. The partnerships have contributed to the union density decline in my view.
@@unionminded7918 i called it though, miniscule deal, to bide time.. hopefully thats not just the case and they really do want to make a change.. my fear now is if the republican party does win because of it only being january 2025, how will they play the inage of the action and hopefully union members dont face repercussions of such.. I got very little faith but I am happy to see something small take place.. I have seen small become a slap, which just leads to a bigger retaliatory action later.. its never easy but I am thankful for what little came out of it.. a win is a win.. the partership straight up allows "dictation" dictatorial , dictatorship, im gonna scream omov till I die.. ✊️ solidarity, I just dont want americans hurt at home and forced marshal laws..
Give them what they want NP AUROMATION We need to be an economy of PEOPLE not ROBOTS If people think a STRIKE is bad, wait till ONE PERSON has their finger on the button of EVERYTHIG We are SLEEP WALKING INT DISASTER
Most union workers are lazy.. I know i was in a union for 10 years.. 77 % increase.. you are insane ... screw your fellow Americans when you union prez makes close to 1 million a year.. get bent
If foreign countries own most of our ports and they are all automated. They will profit without employing very many American workers and profit all the more. Isn't
First off, they want an 80% increase. Now, for these people to strike during an already bad economy and to do this after a hurricane is even worse. The guy that runs that union is garbage and the truth is coming out. As an IBEW lineman (retired), i can honestly say that the only thing unions are good for is protecting the dirtbags so they can keep their jobs. I hope they go full automation now.
Your union boss is an over paid greedy rich person. Your salaries were said to double. You want 5 an hour a rise for every year of the six year new contract. Your union boss went to trial for racketeering in 2005. Lives in a 1.7 million dollar mansion. The president should invoke protection to prevent the strike. Your performance is almost criminal. And your over paid
Fuck all unions, they’re selfish. In my trade, when the IAW strikes, my pay is affected because aside I can’t get the parts to fix the cars. So when unskilled UAW plant and warehouse workers strike, it affects all the non union workers who are actually performing a skill and rely on the union workers to do their jobs so they can do theirs. Fuck all of them. I hope these companies now automate their systems to show who is actually the boss. Machines don’t strike.
The Taft Hartley Act robbed the labor movement of the statutory protections granted just 12 years earlier by the Wagner Act. The labor movement has been in decline ever since. I would not expect the President to intervene, but If the President would change his mind, this is what the 1947 language of the Taft Hartley Act empowers him to do. Title 29 USC Chapter 7 Title II §178. Injunctions during national emergency (a) Petition to district court by Attorney General on direction of President Upon receiving a report from a board of inquiry the President may direct the Attorney General to petition any district court of the United States having jurisdiction of the parties to enjoin such strike or lock-out or the continuing thereof, and if the court finds that such threatened or actual strike or lock-out- (i) affects an entire industry or a substantial part thereof engaged in trade, commerce, transportation, transmission, or communication among the several States or with foreign nations, or engaged in the production of goods for commerce; and (ii) if permitted to occur or to continue, will imperil the national health or safety, it shall have jurisdiction to enjoin any such strike or lockout, or the continuing thereof, and to make such other orders as may be appropriate.
If the federal maritime commission determines this is an attack on the commerce flowing through within the economy and negatively impacts the american people as a whole , they have the capability to detain no different than the union who will threaten members finances if they do not remain controlled within their respected regimes. The unions have to be careful imposing this type of economic warfare against their own country..
Some would say the national labor union, which gave way to the davis bacon act once going third party politics and was dissolved because of. Was dissolved by the american federation of labor, and the national labor policy was created with the congress of industrial organization to 1. Guarantee of Labor peace, for free flow of commerce. And 2. To Grant impunity for parent bodies of unions to dictate control over their various local unions and rank and file. Permitted to violate their rights, with respect to both state and federal laws. Agreed by Howard Taft and George Meany 1963 Baltimore Maryland.
0:52 "It's important that you get mad at the right people" Hell yeah! The shipping companies' profits are through the roof!! The workers who make that possible deserve a fair cut of that ENORMOUS pie.
The University of Miami hat worn says “Tuition: For the 2024-2025 school year, tuition is estimated to be $60,718, which is a $2,614 increase from the previous year”
@@unionminded7918 how is a dock worker going to afford UM. Everyone’s fight today is become about flesh(money) not principalities as was case a long time ago. After the union get their wage increase UM and other schools will raise their tuition.
@Narloxs, not quite the full problem: ports are looking to automate much of the work. Would *you* want to be working on the dock or ship, while some robot crane is moving multi-ton containers all around you?
@@unionminded7918 Nothing was stolen from you. Boeing is a public company owned by shareholders. Many states have Boeing stock in pension plans and some little old lady in Peoria has Boeing stock that she will pass on to grandkids. You're jealous of CEOs and upper management. Jealousy is one of the seven deadly sins and it remains a thief of joy. Are you worried about Tom Brady being worth 500 million or whatever? I won't defend upper management in what they pay themselves but that is approved by the shareholders. Unions kill industries, see GM for context. Yeah, they should be a means of workers interfacing with managers but your leadership always to too far. Ron Gettlefinger was the prick at GM who colluded with Obama and Fiat to drive GM into bankruptcy. The machinist Union is doing something similar. If Karmala the commie is elected, Boeing has a sad future. I know all the democrat's tricks. How did the UAW acquire 17% of the new GM and bondholders got nothing? Bond holders are people who loaned money to the company. You're on the wrong side of history buddy but I don't expect you to understand or agree.
I’ve been putting off application to my local apprenticeship for over a year. I’m heading in this Tuesday to take that first step. Keep preaching brother.
I'm curious. Does the Boeing Union include the engineers? Because in my personal experience, any engineer I've talked to finds unions just annoying to deal with.
@unionminded7918 sure but as soon as they step out of the office to get a look at the problem in person they get fussed at for "taking a union job". I've had an engineer tell me they were written up for taking their own trash to the dumpster.
@@goldcoin2444 they should not take the custodians work. Lol. No but seriously, I was kidding around. I don't think the Boeing union that's on strike includes engineers but I can't say that for sure.
All accurate information. It MIGHT not be a ULP because they did tell the negotiating team but its a scummy loophole. I wonder if the courts will agree with so much corruption from Boeing and the courts. The increase in GWI% is irrelevant. There are so many redlined items in the contract that need to come back/removed. We need a complete replacement of the AAMP that is manipulated by Boeing. It has a guaranteed 10-15% increase in insurance cost every year that cumulates. They can unilaterally waive paid family leave if a member has a child which is a standard set by state law. They stole our pension. There so much wrong. Even with this current illegal offer, new hires wages will finally be competitive with *checks note* Panda Express... Don't believe me? The 737max is built in Renton, Washington Zip 98055. Look up the panda Express in Renton and look at the starting wage. It is basically a grade 6-8 job code in terms of wages of the current wage card. Do better Boeing.
Thanks for this information, brother. I don't understand how any union member can support the GOP. Democrats aren't perfect (far from it!), but closer to Labor's interests.
Yeah, brother! I'm about 1/3 through "Democracy Is Power", good stuff. I'm blessed to be part of a very democratic union right now, hoping to join IBEW soon, hoping to find the same there. (My apprentice interview is this week.)
