So if you chisel off just a bit too much, you've ruined the project? This must require some incredible precision.. you sir, are an incredibly skilled craftsman.
OH! using a chisel upside down! ain't seen ANYONE use it like that before. AWESOME! That joint is a work of art in itself!!! TEACH ME SENPAI!!! Got a new subber!!!
I'm convinced the inventor of this joint like myself served a lengthy time in the Infantry developing a 5th grade level of off duty maturity in order to cope and the real name of this is the Boner Joint
What a complex appearance that joint had and yet it was simply slid together, genius. Love the satisfying sound of the sharp chisels shaving the timber.
What is it about the Japanese that whatever they do, from ancient crafts like this, to the latest technology, they do so well? These joints are a thing of beauty.
@@CrudeBuster I understand that however it all depends on the use of the piece and the pressure that the joint comes under if any and from which direction.
@@kmo6480 again, no disrespect, these guys have been doing this kind of stuff for a long while. they barely had metal to do tools, nails were a luxury. nowadays even the most simple furniture is mostly cheap wood jointed by screws and nails, back then it had to last...
He makes it look like butter instead of wood. It's so fantastic, so expert, I would love a table made from legs like that with a glass top, to be able to see this workmanship.
Buildings things I tend to go for the simplest solution to get the job done well, but the level of satisfaction achieved from making these joins must be quite something, I'm tempted to try them out one day ❤️
If you want efficient support there should no cracks. Unless you think minimal effort is damn good while spitting on it for good luck it then I will not argue with you. (:
