Some people enjoy the Mirrorless Camera's, but most of us grew up with the DSLR camera system and that is what we enjoy about these cameras! I will never change to the Mirrorless camera because of the Price! I will continue with the DSLR Full Frame Camera Outfit as my Primary Camera System. Lenses are more affordable and easier to find!
olympus cameras are brutal, hella full of buttons, it's like holding a film camera. And their burst mode is insane. I met a guy with a m43 olympus that could do 10FPS with full AF drive, it had the second grip, I believe it's called Olympus 1x?
For portraits generally top photographer focus on the bridge of the nose as most wrinkles are usually below the pupil, the eye bag area, you focus on the eye then manual focus to where the eye brows would meet; for portraits also when you use a 50mm position the camera at breast height to reduce lens distortion, 85mm at face height, a 35mm at waist height. For 50mm it's face + chest, 85mm is least distorting so you can cover all portraits but need the distance. In the film days you would just out some vaseline on the uv filter on a lens, when first digital was used in PS you would add a slight blur and mask out the eyes and mouth. The Lumix 42.5 f1.7 is a good portrait lens...25mm has more compression than 20mm, check out the Oly 75mm f1.8, it has cinematic compression for full length portraits at f2.5-f3, you get nice background...
I had the M8 and quickly went to the 240. It’s strange when you look at a modern SLR after using an M for a while. It looks like someone threw up a load of buttons all over it.
I guess the Tesla v Everybody else will Be the Apple Vs Android of the Ev World. It’s risky to go with a car that has less tech development for it’s fit and finish but I understand why people would.
The Q2m is a perfect additional camera to own and thats the tough part since its an expensive "additional" camera. I loved mine in the time I had it. I learned alot of how to see light and not just chimp on the colors being presented in front of me. I ended up selling mine along with my sony kit for an M11 and haven't looked back but one day I will pick up another monochrom camera as the low light capability is insane
Comparison between 7artisans and Viltrox 85mm would be interesting. I have 24mm 1.8 Viltrox and i like it. Nikon prices are too thick for what the lenses are.
I definitely gravitate towards lenses with character. Same with camera bodies (sensors). This 7Artisans 85mm and the new 75mm from TTartisan both look interesting.
May I make a sincere suggestion, your video is excellent quality and informative but I clicked on this to get an idea about the cameras and they were barely visible in the entire video, just a continuous shot of your face...!
LOL...No matter where you go, or how remote you think you are there will always be a random person in your spot. IDK how these RU-vidrs do all these " gear review" videos, it gets so boring after awhile, I guess the money must be good
@@ericrjennings I get the curiosity part, viewership will go down, but you will probably gain viewers more likely to engage. It's a fine line. I just post what I want and let RU-vid figure it out (probably a REAL BAD strategy), but it keeps me interested
Eric - a brilliant review. I have a MP-240 and a M246 monochrome - they are fantastic! Love Zeiss glass - also have the 50 Planar. Enjoyed your candid comments.
Left Fuji for Canon. It always felt like I was fighting my Fuji to focus or operate how I wanted, with my Canon autofocus is a set it and forget it type thing and lightning fast, accurate and intuitive.
So no advantages for the Gr3. I pay 1000-1200 euro for a small device that has the same quality, better procesing and better relyability then a 1000-1100 Euro camera. Do anyone understand how insulting this is for me as a customer to be offered such a bad dedicated camera? "Oh we have larger sensor, larger space for glass, but the performance is about the same becasue we could not bother, and it is about the same price becasue we really thing you are really this dumb to pay the same price for a device that does so much less, it has same quality for what it does." For the same price the pint and shoot camera need to outperform any smarphone by a huge margin, in details, in low light, auto focus and relyability. This is a worthless pice of shit.
Eric your channel is a life saver. I trust you with my GAS wholeheartedly. 😂 No honestly I love your content as I'm sure many more do. You are appreciated. Take some time for your projects, life and whatnot. Then come back and give us all what we want to buy on the camera market.
I also tend to lean towards lenses that have a special look to them. Perfect imperfections. Question: if you like the (retro) look in the way a lens renders, would you choose the ZF over the Z6III to go along with that overall retro “look” as a total package? It seems like you have a love / hate relationship with the ZF. Maybe? You steer towards smaller gear, back to bigger gear, back & forth. lol. I know, I’ve been there. Prefer the Z6III?
ZF actually feels great in the hand even without additional grip if you put prime lenses on it that aren't too big. Much better ergonomics than a FUJI X-T camera because buttons are well placed, have a good size and don't feel mushy. If you try one for real there is nothing that justifies "oversized".
@@ericrjennings That depends on personal preference and correct hand holding technique. I don't have any issues using 50 mm f1/.8 and 85 mm f/1.8 lenses with it. Retro-inspired cameras are not for everybody.
@@ericrjennings I tried them. Doesn't fit for my hands. Buttons are too small. I can't operate that camera blindly without looking where to place the fingers.
@@ericrjennings I sold all my Fuji gear years ago because of the exposure stepping and focus hunting. They are GREAT for stills, but completely unreliable for video. Surprised you don't use your Olympus more for talking head shots - Oly colors are fantastic.
I won't but Chinese lens. I feel they are no friends of America and they donate a lot of money to the democrat website ActBlue. China also supported Black Lives Matter that Marxist group.
Due to handling I much prefer the OM-1. I had the original E-M5 with a grip and the aftermarket hand grip and it just never felt as good as the E-m1 / OM-1 body. I also much prefer the new menu system. But thats just me. I am curious though. As a fellow Michigander. What venue were you going too that allows an 8 inch lens? I have always wanted to try concert photography outside of small venues where the lighting is often poor. Just measured the 40-150 and it's 6 1/2 inches without the hood. My Tamron 35-150 is 7" but not sure if I could get in with it or not. Hell I'd go to shows of bands I don't even like to have the opportunity to shoot them. I didn't read the comments yet. Did you make a decision?
