Thank you for this informative video. I did the Keys to the Kingdom tour as a gift to myself on my 60th birthday last year. Well worth the price, I loved it! The dessert party at Magic Kingdom is so overpriced for what you get - the Fireworks dinner package at Epcot is such a better deal! The fishing excursion looks like fun! 😊
Hello. Great video, it lets me clear a lots of doubts I had. I would like to make a question. How bad is drive this road in December? I guess I just have the sunpass option because my homepoint is Florida since I'm brazilian arriving through Miami airport.
Thank you. For your question on how this route is for December it will really depend on a few things. First would be how far are you going? If you are heading to Canada then the areas of concern will be the mountains in Virginia and West Virginia, these are the areas with a lot of curvy roads. We are used to driving in the snow but not the types of curves so we wouldn’t want to take this route if the weather isn’t clear. There can be fog or ice as well that may make your drive unpleasant The worst part of this drive in poor weather conditions that we hear about is that if you feel it is too much and you want to stop, you may have to wait about 40 mins until the next city. So driving this route will depend on your comfort with both of these conditions. Also our opinion would be to suggest not driving in the dark if you take this route. Whichever way you go, have fun.
Thank you for sharing! I plan on using I75 from Florida to Ohio. The thumbnail of your video with snow was the main reason I clicked. As we plan on traveling for New Years
I just came from Canada for the weekend and yes please fill up your tanks in the US before crossing the border. They’re running on kmh and not Mph, so if you see 70, 80 or 100 kmh is equivalent to 45, 50 and 60 Mph
Coming from VA, you would drive through Niagara before Toronto. Niagara is immediately after crossing the border. If you do go to downtown Toronto , don’t take the 407. While staying downtown Toronto is convenient so be prepared for Hotel prices to be high. If you want to save money I would suggest staying a little further out on the subway line. Thanks for watching.
Oh my goodness! I remember going to the Old Spaghetti Factory in Toronto back in the mid to late 70s. I don’t go to Toronto very often anymore because I don’t enjoy the drive and the parking situation. At the time we enjoyed it very much. My daughter had recently mentioned that she and her son had gone to the Old Spaghetti Factory on a trip to Toronto a few months ago.
I’m glad you had a chance to experience it years ago, and as you saw it hasn’t changed much. 😊 We got lucky on this visit and the city was quiet for Toronto. I hope your daughter enjoyed her visit to The Old Spaghetti Factory.
Just a minor correction. The bridge you were referring to as the Whirlpool Bridge, is, in fact, the Queenston, Lewiston Bridge going from Queenston, Ontario to Lewiston, New York. The Whirlpool Bridge you already passed just before you got to the Whitewater Walk along the rapids.
40 years ago when i went into canada from Washington state, it was like "have a good time", "enjoy Canada!" But coming back into the US, it was the third degree!, "where have you been, where did you go, what did you do" had me pull over, tore my car apart, treated me like crap, like a felon.
That sure would discourage you from wanting to cross again. They do ask a lot of questions, but I guess each border, and agent can be different. I hope you get a chance to visit again with a different experience. Thanks for watching.
Oh wow, that’s good to know! That would have been a free flight for us. Thank you for letting us know. I heard they just announced seat selection, and larger seats are coming soon. 😀
We agree that something needs to be done. Having the title of the city with the worst traffic in North America is not one we want. Thanks for watching.
Great video, I’m doing the Florida drive in March ‘25. I see you had to keep your winter tires on because of Buffalo. I’ll might change my tires just before going down.
Brings back some great memories, I used to eat at the Atlanta location at least once a month. I didn't know this was a chain restaurant, it certainly never had that "chain" feel about it. Wish they hadn't closed the one in Atlanta, it might be time for a road trip.
We agree, it doesn’t give that “chain” vibe. Glad you enjoyed it too. It’s always nice to have a reason for a road trip. We hope you get to try another location. Thanks for watching.
Spaghetti with clam sauce, all the bread and garlic butter you can eat, with a chaser of spumoni ice cream - my very first date in 1978, in that trolley car. Thanks for the memory!
I was on a bus trip and only spent a couple of days in Toronto. They took us to the CN tower but I'm not a fan of heights so instead I walked over to the Railway museum which I quite enjoyed. Enjoyed the viseo, thank you.
We stayed here last 4 days ago and it was very convenient. We didn't realize that the tour trolley literally passes by our villa and we love it. We didn't have to drive or look for parking if we want to see different spots. The breakfast was good. The place was clean. There are so many places to eat walking distance. We love that the 600 year old oak tree is in the center of the property and we sit there to wait for our ride or just to relax. The other comment our little girl posted was after talk about ghost tours and she got scare. Sorry.
It is amazing to me how these videos always tell the story of how well the slave owners lived! However, many historians today advocate for calling these places “labor camps” or “slave labor camps” or "forced labor camps" rather than “plantations,” in order to avoid hiding the truth of what really happened in these agricultural operations using forced labor. The story is not told about how the plantation owners became so wealthy and able to build these homes nor how the enslaved people were whipped, raped, and treated as livestock.
We chose this location for the “From slavery to freedom” tour that was offered. Our intention on this video was to show bits of what you will see and learn at this location with a small piece of “from slavery to freedom” tour. I understand this did not go into all the details that were shared, and that is why we also posted the 2nd video with Joe’s full educational talk. I do feel that much more time should be given for this and there was so much more that could have been discussed. Thank you for your comments, as it is important for us to understand how our videos may be perceived verse our intentions.
From what we remember we had to pay extra for train tour/house tour and if wanted Audubon tour. I see the tickets this year include everything except for the house tour for $35. This would definitely be worth it to me. We personally wouldn’t pay the extra for the house tour. Thanks for watching.
$557.20 isn't a bad price for a trip like that. I live in the US and I think you made the right choice by driving. A lot of Scenery can be drove through and it's a pleasant experience. I've never been to Canada but I hope you had a safe trip home.
interesting -- QUESTION -- Sort of a personal question, but Are Canada people poorer than Mexicans or about the same? I read that Mexico now has higher wages and a much larger economy but not sure about Canada. Just wasn't sure.
Sorry, but we are not very familiar with Mexico’s economy. As for Canada, our living conditions are very similar to the United States. We have a range of incomes from those on government assistance to the very wealthy. Not sure if this helps, but for Ontario the minimum wage is $16.55 per hour while the living wage calculation for the city of Toronto says you need $25.05 per hour. Thanks for watching.
Trying to drive from Ottawa to Naples, should I buy the toll pass? Or pay with cash or card the whole way ? Trying to crush it out in 25 hrs with barely no stops
Our choice would be to get a pass. Much easier and then you are not limited to certain non tolls roads, or worrying about not taking toll roads that only accept passes or toll by plate which costs more. Enjoy your trip.
Thanks for the video!!! I was looking at going from North Florida to Toronto. I personally never go through downtown Atlanta unless it's late in the night. Otherwise, i take I-285 to get bwckbto I-75. Same with Macon. I take the bypass .
Longtime trucker here and unless we were delivering inside the perimeter we had to take i285 or get ticket. I carried dummie bill of lading for Coca Cola delivery for sneaking thru on 75 or 85.
We did go March break a few times, but we never went to Daytona during bike week. We found March break to be busy in other areas due to the many families on break. Even though it was busy, we still had a great time. Enjoy your trip!
Hi there. Wife and I traveling from PA to Toronto in May. Will you make a part 2 or a list of things we need to just get in and out of Canada? How do we drive and what do we need to
There were rules in place until April 2022 to cross back into Canada. We had to provide a Covid test at the border and if we tested positive we would have to quarantine. So, we wore a mask (sometimes) based on the information back then.
@thetravellingtoques 10-4 sorry didn't think this was from 2022 ...good video! ..done this trip many times made some amazing stops and saw some really cool places
I traveled from western Pennsylvania to Fort Meyers, Fl. Expect heavy traffic almost all the way down. Stayed near Atlanta to break up the trip. Florida this time of year is very crowded on all highways. There is a small percentage of reckless and risk taking drivers on I75 in Florida. Georgia did have a large trooper presence but most drivers continued drive over the speed limit all along the way. I would suggest using Waze as an aid for your travels. My suggestion is to stay alert and focus on your driving because of the heavy traffic.
I will be traveling to Ft. Meyers at the end of January and I will pass along any information that may be useful to you. I hope the weather cooperates on my way down.
great video, totally re-watchable to gather all info, but definitely confusing with all these tolls and devices. Seems like uni pass is not enough (that's the one ill probably purchase), gotta purchase sun sun pass also ? , and that won't be seem to be enough either ? What do you do do you stop at these tolls ? How do you pay them or just pass, and let them bill you on your plate ? What road is best to take in February-March ?
Thank you, sorry if it was a bit confusing. We gave all the choices but you only need one pass. The big choice is unipass or sunpass. Don’t buy both, or you will be charged on both. If you buy Unipass you’ll be fine. If you cross at Windsor you have to pay the toll there as no passes are accepted and there is an attendant. Happens right after going through customs. For the rest of the tolls you just drive through and it records your license plate. This is charged to an account you will have set up. When you buy your Unipass they give instructions on how to set this up, and how to prepay on your account. You can login and see the cost of the tolls and what your balance is and top this up if needed. The tolls in Florida may say sunpass, but you can just drive through those, same in Georgia, but it says Peach pass. Personally I would choose to drive I75 route in February/March.
