Almost all of the famous songs associated with the Civil War have melodies taken from older European songs or were composed by Northerners. "Maryland, my Maryland", "Bonnie Blue Flag", "Dixie", "Lorena", "Battle Hymn of the Republic", "Battle Cry of Freedom", "Tramp! Tramp! Tramp!", "Marching through Georgia", etc.

The whole war was started due to the tyranny of the North (Northern aggression) as manifested by the Morrill Tariff Act which increased the import and, or export taxes on the southern states by at least 70% (which such tax revenue was expended by the federal government at a rate of about 80% on the public utilities for the northern states.); the Yankees used slavery as a tactical, emotional exploitative tool to obtain public support for the war, apparently

They’re just doing another round of coming down here to make money off of us before leaving us in ruins. Many of the plantation owners lived in the North! Then after the war they came down in droves and shoved us into factories in exploitative conditions before finding out they can make more money further south down in Mexico and the rest of Latin America. Yankeeland is the land of hypocrites who use us as a scapegoat so they can continue putting people in slavery without any moral repercussions

The Confederate States of America (1861-1865) started with an agrarian-based economy that relied heavily on slave-worked plantations for the *production of cotton* for export to Europe. *IF CLASSED AS AN INDEPENDENT COUNTRY,* the area of the Confederate States would have ranked as the *FOURTH-RICHEST COUNTRY OF THE WORLD IN 1860."* (Wikipedia: Economy of the Confederate States of America). Whereas an insurrection against the Government of the United States has broken out in the States of South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas, and the laws of the United States *FOR THE COLLECTION OF THE REVENUE (TAX MONEY)* cannot be effectually executed therein comformably to that provision of the Constitution which requires *DUTIES (REVENUE TAX MONEY)* to be uniform throughout the United States:..." Lincoln's Proclamation No. 82 27 April 1861 "Whereas since that date public property of the United States has been seized, *THE COLLECTION OF THE REVENUE OBSTRUCTED,* and duly commissioned officers of the United States, while engaged in executing the orders or their superiors, have been arrested and held in custody as prisoners...." Crittenden-Johnson Resolution issued by the US House of Representatives, 25 July, 1861 four days after the defeat of the invading US Army at Manassas, VA (Bull Run). "Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Congress of the United States, That the present deplorable civil war has been forced upon the country by the disunionists of the Southern States now in revolt against the constitutional Government and in arms around the capital; that in this national emergency Congress, banishing all feelings of mere passion or resentment, *WILL RECOLLECT ONLY ITS DUTY (REVENUE TAX MONEY) TO THE WHOLE COUNTRY;* that this war is not waged upon our part in any spirit of oppression, nor for any purpose of conquest or subjugation, norp purpose of overthrowing *OR INTERFERING WITH THE RIGHTS OR ESTABLISHED INSTITUTIONS (like slavery) OF THOSE STATES,* but to defend and maintain the supremacy of the Constitution and to *PRESERVE THE UNION (TREASURY),* with all the dignity, equality, and rights of the several States unimpaired; and that as soon as these objects are accomplished the war ought to cease. Lincoln illegally declared emancipation in the following locations in his Proclamation: "Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, *(EXCEPT* the Parishes of St. Bernard, Plaquemines, Jefferson, St. John, St. Charles, St. James Ascension, Assumption, Terrebonne, Lafourche, St. Mary, St. Martin, and Orleans, including the City of New Orleans) Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia, *(EXCEPT* the forty-eight counties designated as West Virginia, and also the counties of Berkley, Accomac, Northampton, Elizabeth City, York, Princess Ann, and Norfolk, including the cities of Norfolk and Portsmouth), and which *EXCEPTED* parts, are for the present, left precisely as if this0 proclamation were not issued." NOTE: Does Lincoln release any of the estimated 1 million slaves still held in the Union States? *NO!* Does he release any slaves in the Union Territories? *NO!* Does he release any slaves held in Indian reservations or territories? *NO!* Did he release any slaves in the Southern Border States of Delaware, Maryland, Kentucky and Missouri? *NO!* Does he release any slaves in West Virginia? *NO!* Does he release any slaves in the Confederate State of Tennessee? *NO!* Does he release slaves in select counties/parishes of the Confederate States of Virginia and Louisiana? *NO!*

It's good you read, but a lot of the seeming contradictions resolve themselves if you just keep reading. The proclamation didn't free slaves in the border states because a large percentage of the loyal citizenry were democrats who wouldn't be on board with making it a war about ending slavery and he couldn't afford to alienate the border states and risk them switching sides and losing the war. The majority of Northerners came to accept emancipation as a way of punishing slave-holders for seceding and preventing internal discord and conflict in the future. The fact that most Northerners fought for Union doesn't reflect Lincoln's views on slavery or why 11 Southern states seceded. I'm not saying that I'm absolutely right and you're absolutely wrong, but it's pointless to highlight apparent inconsistencies that already have logical explanations if you bother to study them. Attaching yourself to one side, only reading evidence that supports your case and ignoring everything else (The ordinances of secession, the cornerstone speech, tons of letters and diaries, the nature of Reconstruction, Jim Crowe and the KKK) is what a lawyer does. Not an honest historian.
@u.sgrant7526
@u.sgrant7526 3 месяца назад
Plus, slavery was protected by the constitution and that constitution was in effect for all loyal states. If you read the Emancipation Proclamation, everything becomes clearer. Lincoln had the power to attack slavery in places in rebellion, because the Constitution did not protect slavery there and it was a means of weakening their war efforts. Slavery kept the economy going behind the lines of the Confederacy and tons of slaves escaped and joined the Union forces. Lincoln was president of a democratic country and couldn't do or say whatever he wanted at any time.
