Lyrics:
I wish I was in the land of cotton,
Old times there are not forgotten;
Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land.
In Dixie Land where I was born in,
Early on one frosty mornin,
Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land.
Then I wish I was in Dixie, hooray! hooray!
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand to live and die in Dixie,
Away, away, away down South in Dixie,
Away, away, away down South in Dixie
Old Missus married Will the Weaver,
William was a gay deceiver;
Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land.
But when he put his arm around'er,
He smiled as fierce as a forty-pound'er,
Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land.
Then I wish I was in Dixie, hooray! hooray!
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand to live and die in Dixie,
Away, away, away down South in Dixie,
Away, away, away down South in Dixie
Dar's buck-wheat cakes an 'Ingen' batter,
Makes you fat or a little fatter;
Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land.
Den hoe it down an scratch your grabble,
To Dixie land I'm bound to trabble.
Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land.
Then I wish I was in Dixie, hooray! hooray!
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand to live and die in Dixie,
Away, away, away down South in Dixie,
Away, away, away down South in Dixie

They’re just doing another round of coming down here to make money off of us before leaving us in ruins. Many of the plantation owners lived in the North! Then after the war they came down in droves and shoved us into factories in exploitative conditions before finding out they can make more money further south down in Mexico and the rest of Latin America. Yankeeland is the land of hypocrites who use us as a scapegoat so they can continue putting people in slavery without any moral repercussions

@@tweeterjack The closest thing to an 'official' National Anthem of the Confederate States was "God Save The South" and this was actually described on the cover of the original sheet music when published as "Our Confederate National Anthem". It has - if performed correctly - all the proper solemnity needed for a national anthem and it's very much in the same position as "God Save the Queen" in Britain, while 'Dixie' would be the equivalent of "Land Of Hope And Glory".

Actually believe it or not.... Daniel Decatur Emmett from Mount Vernon, OH (the man who made the song and the one who made the original lyrics before the variations) Intended to reflect on the mood of the United States in 1850 toward the abolitionist movement. Basically the song is saying that slavery is a overall positive institution. The pining slave was used in his other works like I ain't got no time to tarry And Johnny roach In short.... Dixie made its case, more strongly than any previous minstrel tune had, that slaves belonged in bondage. this was accomplished through the song's protagonist, who, in comic on black, implies that despite his freedom, he is homesick for the plantation if his birth. I thought that "Wait....a man from Ohio believed that slavery was good??" Cause come on, the north was getting into industrialization. So I went and searched around a bit and found his diary in a local library. He claims that he himself had not really saw the truth of slavery until he went down south and saw what was going on. He was horrified. Just like the many union soldiers whom had never been to the south before and were confronted with the horrifying truth of slavery later when the war came and when the north was finally winning. But Emmet truly reverted making the song. But it was to late. When the south seceded from the union, they took the song and decided to use it as a soldiers song saying "we'll fight for the south" giving the song a new meaning Without taking a look into the song and what it was about originally. But as I said. It was to late...

@thatkidwiththehair it wasn’t originally about slavery in fact Abraham Lincoln said that he if he could in the Civil War without freeing a single slave he would The reason the union made it about slavery was to keep the United Kingdom from getting involved also you have to remember that if Lincoln didn’t get shot all the slaves would be shipped back to Africa The Civil War was more about states rights versus the countries rights Stonewall Jackson said that he saw slavery as an abomination but he would always defend his state which is why he was in the army in the first place

@thatkidwiththehair For their rights (primarily) to own slaves for the upper classes. But why should that make me hate my ancestors? If anything, the CSA should be looked up to by all. A nation with its capital only 100 miles from Washington DC held out for 4 years against a nation far larger in both industrial and human resources. The CSA is a testament to the superiority of the Southerner to the Yankee hireling.
@Willwhite5809
@Willwhite5809 3 года назад
@thatkidwiththehair The Union didn’t have to fight. Furthermore, if you don’t like traitors who owned slaves then your going to need to throw out most of the founding fathers. Honestly, I do not care about your morality.
@dinosaurcj

I feel like there was more to the conflict than simply slavery, I have a theory that the different cultures may have played a big part in the South's desire for independence, this may explain why the war continued even after the Emancipation Proclamation (although some may see that as a continued attempt to keep slavery, there were black regiments, and sometimes I think that the stories are exaggerated, and people are just too emotional to question what they are hearing.) I heard somewhere that the South saw themselves to America as America was to the British Empire, a culturally different nation seceding from a very powerful nation, which, given the fact that the cultures were very different (even outside of slavery,) that makes a lot of sense.

Lincoln wanted a war, I've been studying the Civil War politicians for some time now, and the Northern view on slavery was the last straw for the south and Lincoln knew they south would get fed up and try to break away. Lincoln was smart and knew a war was imminent, he just wanted it to occur while he was in power.

Also, sadly General AP Hill lost his life that day aged just 30, 7 days later Lee surrendered at Appomatox.

'Dixie's Land' was written in by Ohio Native Daniel D. Emmett. This song was first performed in 1859 on stage in New York; two years BEFORE the Civil War erupted. It was a walk-around tune played between musical acts. Later known simply as, 'Dixie', this song became the unofficial anthem of the rebel states after it was played at the Inauguration of Confederate President Jefferson Davis in 1861. President Abraham Lincoln loved this song and asked for it to be played at the White House the night Confederate General Robert E Lee surrounded to Union General Ulysses S. Grant. The truth is Dixie was not originally written as a racist song. It had nothing to do with the evil dogma of people owning slaves against their will. Even so, its still a reminder of a war where more Americans lost their lives than WWW 1, WWW 2, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Iraq War, and the War in Afghanistan combined!! What Americans need to understand is when racists die they go to hell. It doesn't matter what race they are. Galatians 5:21 "...Those practicing such things will not inherit the kingdom of God." Apostle Paul NOT ONE RACIST HAS EVER INHERITED THE KINGDOM OF GOD. Prophecy Teacher Paul Bortolazzo
