I thoroughly enjoy Al Murry's stand-up act, which I think is both very clever and entertaining. This is the first time I've ever seen 'Time Gentlemen Please'. How disappointing! Crass, crude, badly written dross. Somehow I thought that it would be cleverer than this.
I don't remember him doing this when I saw him live at The Alexandra Palace Theatre in Birmingham in November 2005 and I'm sure this is from the Same tour 🤔
5:20 the tube didn't want to transcribe: in Ireland they 5:07 insisted whenever the Roman Catholic 5:09 Church put in charge of babysitting 5:16 I insisted you nominate me do Filioque 5:21 idli fitted 5:23 neatly fiddly video video 5:26 felipito figlio hillbilly but you get the point.
fun fact: britain and france hold the record for wars, 2015 between them, not always with each other of course, and they finally admitted defeat last wednesday when it rained a bit.
i was told "smell nice" and i think that and the ability to hit the funny bone at the right angle have done well for me. and poetry. "why did you keep taking me back, we broke up a dozen times" "you wrote me poetry" she said.
No matter how many times I watch these videos, I'll come back to watch them again, especially when I need cheering up. I binge watch them all night while working on my image library or doing more paperwork I don't usually want to do until it has to be done. Along with his comedy specials I'll never get bored while watching Al..
This is very random, but a while ago I watched the series 'Shōgun' on Disney Plus and part of the narrative is how the new world was divided up and how Japan fell into the Portuguese half. After hearing Al mention it I remembered and made the connection XD
I think the first half of this is actually quite deep. I don’t mind the canned laughter in all the other episodes but if it was removed here, you could see a level of sadness and remorse in alcoholism
The whole Pub Landlord character is such genius: Al walks a perfect tightrope between the dumb (but enjoyable) gags and the clever (but not preachy) social commentary. Every joke or routine is running on two simultaneous levels.
