They're going so quickly recently...some SERIOUS talent. I suspose its a matter of letting go of what used to be known as a Variety Performance and such a form of comedy........but why should any form of comedy become "un"funny? More's the pity if and when one does.......
I bought one or two Des O Connor albums when I was at college (early 90s), but I didn't have the balls to get it myself, I sent a nerdy guy to do it who sat next to me in class. I really liked the Des O Connor song on the Hamlet cigar advert with Russ Abbott where the fish jump out.
Hey they don't make them like that anymore. What we got now?...Gino Di Campo presenting Family Fortunes? What next, ...Ramsay doing The Price Is Right?
Des's quip to Cilla about Oliver Reed: "How do you know" was so good it took me half a minute to understand it. There surely can't be any restrictions showing old Des singing. Go on, Guv. Next week?
