I agree, the NA version is a very close replicant of the original. Not sure why they call it 0.0 since it's 0.5% ABV. I'd recommend doing a blind taste test and see if you can tell which one is which blindfolded.
Great video, mate. Reschs Pilsener is probably the best macro lager in the country. I think they use POR these days but I’ve seen homebrew recipes based on earlier versions that use Cluster and East Kent Goldings. You’re right about Reschs Draught. It is a different brew. Once upon a time it was available in packaged form too but apart from a limited run 10 or 12 years ago (like they did with Reschs Dinner Ale in 2022), those days are long gone. The original Reschs Real wasn’t a great beer but at around $23 a case or $30 for a 30 can block, it did the job. My favourite Reschs brew was Reschs Smooth Black Ale - a draught only beer that was only around for a few years in the late 90s. Cheers from member 661!
Cheers hef! I wish the Draught was sold in bottles and cans again! I also never had the dinner ale when it came back out unfortunately, that smooth black ale sounds bloody delicious!! Thanks again for the history lesson! I love it mate 🙌🙌🙌
You can nitrosurge either one using the well-known pin trick; it works equally well with 4%/0%. Doesn't make a huge difference, but the head's a bit creamier. I'm looking forward to the 0% coming on draught here in the UK, it's being rolled out to pubs in Ireland at the moment. Nice video, thanks!
Thanks for the comment mate! I’ll have to try the pin trick, lucky you, you will get the 0% on draught before Australia, I’d imagine it will be pretty damn good off draught! Enjoy!
Great part of the world, mate. Bloody cold in winter though - it snowed the last time I was out there. Badlands Brewery is another local brewery. Give their kolsch a go next time. Cheers! Ps Orange has the third highest airport in Australia (behind Mount Hotham and Armidale) #uselesstrivia
Love it Hef! Hit me with the useless trivia whoever you want! Yes I did see the Badlands brewery beers in the bottlo, unfortunately didn’t grab any, will have to try them next time I’m up there!
I'll be traveling from Las Vegas to Ireland this coming October. I don't drink but everyone else in the group does. Sounds like I'll still be able to have a shared experience with Guinness 0.0, I won't know the difference anyway Thank you so much for your honest review
@@BeersWithBoydo Oh no I live in Vegas, we'll be going to Ireland and the group will want to try Guinness "from the source" haha. But thank you, I appreciate it :)
Great stuff, mate. I’m a Reschs man but Carlton Draught is probably my number 2. Good call on the bready flavour. I find it cleaner than VB too. I’m with you on the longy. All Australian macro lagers taste better out of the longy. Cheers!
Great video but bloody terrible news. I wonder how long it will take the average punter to work out why their favourite Japanese beer tastes terrible. Cheers!
The Asahi stuff brewed here is fucking horrible, it's insane that the companies see how popular that stuff is and think "Let's make it under supervision and make it taste almost exactly like Carlton Draught" and then people stop buying it. Gratefully you can still get Monsuta brewed in Japan which are just as good as ever, that's my go-to whenever I'm buying a slab.
Mate it is insane! How are head office Asahi officials not coming out and taste testing this rubbish! Its madness! What a way to ruin a brand! Unfortunately the average consumer has no idea as to my point saying it was the second most top selling beer from my opinion over Christmas! Ps: don’t knock Carlton Draught like that! Haha this under supervision crap comes no where near it !!
@@BeersWithBoydo haha fair enough, I enjoy a draught too - though I was referring to draught out of a can which is somehow a far worse beer than bottled or on tap!
Love the comparison videos, mate 2 beers are better than one). I’ve never actually drunk either of these beers so I can’t comment on which one is better. Having said that, the Peroni Ref sounds more appealing to me too. Also, I didn’t realise that Italian brewers favoured corn as their adjunct. Love the glass story. What a legend. Cheers!
I would have thought you would have tried them! Get the Peroni Red mate! Yes interesting they both use the corn, haha the glass story is good, cheer mate!
Guinness Zero is one of the best zero alcohol beers around, a lot of zero alcohol beers have a really bad after taste but you don't get that with Guinness. A close second I'd say is Stella Artois Alcohol free, that's a good option.
Yes I agree, Guinness have done the best job! I haven’t seen the Stella Alcohol Free here in Sydney yet, I look forward to trying it when it is available! Cheers mate!
Here in the UK basically all the major brewers make a zero alcohol product. They are stocked in most major supermarkets. Peroni & Heineken are decdnt but Corona tastes like water @BeersWithBoydo
@@FreeloaderUK yes we have the Peroni and Heineken 0.0 here, when the Stella arrives I might have to compare them all, and we also don’t get the Corona 0.0 but I’m not even a fan of the real stuff so that’s ok lol
In Czech Republic this beer is considered overpriced second rate beer. :D We have much better lagers. Out of the big brands, if you can get Radegast 12°... If you ever visit Czech Republic, do NOT look for the big brands but search google for "ochutnavkova pivnice" and thank me later. Roughly translated it means taste testing pub - serves different beers of mostly small(er) breweries.
Love it, mate. It’s one of the world’s great beers, that’s for sure. Times have certainly changed. Pilsner Urquell used to be in every bottle shop in Sydney. You did the right thing by grabbing a case. Cheers!
