Pretty nice video besides the prochara, SwSh, and Splat2 hero mode parts. It was also painful hearing how much he was hyping himself up for how good Splatoon 3 would be just for Splatoon 3 to be... Splatoon 3. Let's hope Splatoon 4 is actually good.
One word: my sister started playing Splatoon 2 and I immediately clicked with it. (i thought the splatoon 2 story mode was amazing. i didnt have the dlc either lol)
I love how the music get more intense and eerie as you progress. It took me 3 tries to beat it too, and my 2nd attempt was when I broke floor 20. I was listening to the music during a danger zones level, and in that moment I knew I needed to lock in
I think I just really enjoyed every sound design and music detail cause I spent my college years focused so much on that so every little detail was like ear candy to me. Personal 10/10 but my bar may be really low since I didn't grow up that much with video games
I told my friends how much cooler the final boss theme would've been if it evolved over time, like each of the palettes having their own little leitmotif (theme) and when you completed the palette of the person it added that leitmotif to the boss music at the end... so it was like you were fighting alongside all the people you'd helped or something :] (it also would have made me not hate the final boss theme so much.... because it was always the same song....) Also secret boss 8 would've been better rather than just another smollusk made big...usk.... the boss puns made me laugh though. Also justice for agent 4 :( they deserved better.
I only starting playing splatoon when then 3rd game come out i had no idea what the heck was happening then I watch some lore vedios now I love splatoon!
I think it gave S3 a spike, but the fresh season wasn't banger (probably one of the worst seasons, seriously how do they manage to release this season and manage to make chill season #1 look better-) And the story got killed seriously this feels like Hero mode 1&2 stories, and smollusk is a bad villain, I feel like his desperation goes away because of how he speaks, you can't take his UwU talk seriously, and the main story ends after clearing the first palette, and I feel like It would need to actually hit story beats it sets up instead of it being brought up and never resolved like it was just forgotten about, Like seriously Why does 8 just have memory loss now?
Your editing is hilarious and so engaging! Instant sub! 👏 I agree sooooo much with the views on the story - we waited so long for this DLC only for it to not have any weight. The gameplay is great, but without a strong story, it just feels exhausting. I wonder if (alongside the delays to it's release) there were some internal factors that made it turn out half-baked? I'm almost expecting another reveal with something else (a second DLC, etc) but there's no way they'd do something like that. It's just hard to think of a reason as to why there's so much missed opportunities?
I agree the music is fantastic but my favorite songs are both actually boss songs, Unconscience (Marina Ida’s boss theme) and New World Order (the first phase of Overlorder’s fight the first time you reach him)
Side order was a great addition but for all the delays it got, really didn't have the content behind it showing the extra cooking time. They could so easily just add a zone to some of the zoneless map layouts, and a path to guide the propellor thing through some and add another 100 levels with minimal effort. Or add some of the other octo expanson objectives. And all that is without the whole "restore 8s memories" being forgotten about at the end, and the obvious hair and finger colour reward everyone predicted not happening. (i expected this not to happen and instead the colours would be options for the 11 side order weapons we can swap "to surprise us" nintendo style, but we didn't get that either.) I very much enjoyed side order, don't get me wrong, but it didn't deliver on any of the ideas it itself presented.
Not fully worth the price, but not a complete rip off. For you I'd say just pass on it, you'd be done with the main game probably in the same time I finished it
The core gameplay loop is fantastic, but it's lacking in polish. I'll echo what a lot of people have said that more floor types and bosses definitely would've gone a long way. But the biggest issue I have with it is that it seems like Nintendo couldn't decide what they wanted the difficulty to be. Full disclosure I am a massive snob who believe "-lites" besmirch the good name of Rogue, so I wanted to try and completely ignore all the persistent upgrades. You kind of have to since the game becomes a complete joke if you use them. Thankfully they left the door open to turn upgrades off, and even offer a score multiplier if you do, so it seems like they at least thought about this playstyle... However, it just feels to me like they never actually *designed* the game for this, because the balancing is such a mess. Many floors remain trivial, but others are such massive difficulty spikes you should just avoid them at all costs, and the final boss is simple enough that I settled on a playstyle of ignoring my build entirely and just pathing for safe floors. Which then felt like I'd optimized the fun out of the game by playing that way.
I honestly really enjoyed Side Order, I really like short games that I can just have stupid little self imposed challenges like monochip and sub only But I will admit the game honestly did get kinda boring after I did everything I wanted to do and I really think that it could have benefited from having more content
i made the grave mistake of setting my standards and expectations as high as octo expac put them and getting a spinoff shoehorned into the base game as DLC which for me places side order way below octo expac regardless of quality of the content itself in isolation pricing wise, for what i got, the price was too high when we compare it to past nintendo DLC and their pricings at most, side order is worth $10 on its own and inkopolis plaza is worth no more than $5 and we were forced to buy all of it in one lump on top of it, not buying another splatoon dlc let alone another splatoon until everything in 3 is addressed
Unfortunately no. I honestly found it tedious to complete each pallete (except for low hacks 8's pallete) I don't really connect to the music (besides the credit's theme and the final boss theme) or what little there is of lore in this DLC. And the fact that this is worth more than Octo expansion in Nintendo's eyes is mind-boggling to me. I am greatful for them fully canonizing Pearl and Marina's relationship tho
i completely understand with not clicking to the last two songs. i feel like spectrum obligato was underused and just a gateway for nintendo to SOMEHOW use ebb and flow again. and i feel wrong for comparing the two, yet with into the light, the first notes tell you “ITS ACTUALLY FUCKING OVER”, while onward says to me “enjoy acht attempting to recreate free association’s music with marina singing her heart out.”
Slight misunderstanding. The changes I made would be for the intro of SO and would be presented through the news intro into a cutscene into agent 8 waking up
I would’ve much, MUCH rather it be an actual story mode with an actual threat, like how tartars backstory was set up. im genuinely sad how much better it could’ve been. if I’m being honest, the first play through that lasted less than 3 HOURS just felt like “ there’s a villain you need to defeat, go defeat him, and then you finish the game. Woohoo” its still good though
