It wasn't hidden. Every year many thousands of reports are never published. Usually because the author spots flaws in their data or they realise that nobody cares.

Please respond to this question! I’m 63 and a more than average exerciser, but also on Statins. I’ve heard this so many times and addressed it to my general physician and to 2 of my specialists and ALL of them keep saying; all bullshit, please keep taking your Statins. How is this possible, because I’ve seen more RU-vid doctors saying a similar thing as you do.

I really appreciate this video. Giving information for an informed decision is helpful. I am 71. i did a 6 mile hike today it keeps me off blood pressure medicine. My wife is of late on statins and blood pressure medicine but she has some blockages and they have limited her ability to exorcise vigorously.

Statins are poison and a medico/pharmaceutical con. Take them at your peril.

Why do they use total/HDL instead of HDL/total? The HDL/total ratio gives you the percentage of cholesterol that is HDL. Using total/HDL has no meaning to me. Was this just a bad decision?

I read that if a middle class or rich Victorian person survived childhood then they mostly made it into their 70's. Childhood diseases that we vacinate against were the killers. I would add that poor people had an extremely tough life and industrial and workplace accidents were killers too.

I have read a lot of studies and commentary on the side effects of statins, having suffered severe leg muscle pain from them for a year, after taking them for only 4 months. Interestingly, if you supplement CoQ10, your serum levels of C0Q10 go up to normal levels, but in intracellular levels are unaffected. In other words, your cells cannot use the supplemental CoQ10. So supplementation doesn't fix the problem. I wish I could remember where I saw that.

When my doctor recommended statins 25 years ago, he also recommended a monthly liver test. I also noticed that early commercials for statins said that patients need to report any muscle weakness, because it may indicate a serious condition. What happened to that? I only took them for a month or two, because I immediately felt muscle weakness. 20 years later, my doctor sent me to a cardiologist just so the cardiologist might convince me to take the meds. When I mentioned muscle weakness, the cardiologist basically just said "deal with it." My dad had the same problem, and now that he's approaching 95, his doctors still try to get him to take his statins. He stopped many years ago.

The original cholesterol study that changed medical practice found heart disease related to very high cholesterol levels in men 49 years old and younger. it was a genetic disorder causing the extraordinarily high levels. They then generalized it to the entire population, causing people to change their diet and ruin their health. Calcium score is used to determine if coronary arteries are likely to cause heart attacks. Almost 70 years old I have a zero calcium score (excellent, very rare) and I have high cholesterol (270). I eat pure butter, real food, avoid processed food but sometimes cheat… so far so good :)

The fatty acids found in artery clogs are mostly unsaturated (74%), of which 41% are polyunsaturated. (Lancet 1994 344:1195) 34 years after the birth of the fat industry. U know eliminate Animal FAT. Today, this country is 10-20 times heavier and sicker than it was 63 years ago. And we spend three times what the world spends. Who is really insane? The consumer, or the Medical Mafia?

I was given a men's health check at 65, and the only thing wrong was my "high cholesterol". Needless to say I was told I should take Statins. I refused as I was very concerned about side effects, esp muscle aches. I asked what lifestyle changes could I do to lower the so called "bad cholesterol" and was given a load of leaflets on how good Statins were for my health. I took up cycling instead, and I am hugely fitter and healthier in all aspects of my life. I already had a good diet of lots of veg and fruits and virtually no ultra processed foods. This was 7 years ago and now there is so much research and many doubts about the over-use on these drugs and the good things that cholesterol does naturally for our bodies. Good decision! Great video Dr Bosanquet thank you.

By simply questioning a doctor, especially a cardiologist, about the side effects of statin use ... even if you think you are experiencing side effects, you could be dropped as a patient ... and even banned from some clinics. Something is really off, don't you think? There is so much conflicting information on this topic, that it is difficult to know who to trust. Final word: truth does not contradict itself.

i asked about side effects and was advised that they had to say that on the leaflet and do that for all drugs but dont worry you wont have any i was asking because soon after i took them i lost energy eventually worsening to the point i now rest most of the day getting about four hours of activity before i feel i am going to fall asleep and have to stop doing anything for some time even just driving home was also asking as i was warned before that i was showing markers for non alcoholic liver disease which after asking about the warning in the leaflet re people with heart dieses i was sent for a scan and more blood tests which i was told were fine? apparently no longer any liver disease about six months ago ifound difficulty breathing having short sharp chest pains and strugled to walk had esg sent for investigation after which they said three were partially blocked and one fully blocked they gave me two stints to one artery then up the statin 4 fold and i feel worse iam 60 male none smoker did binge drink a little to much in my late 40 early fifties 2 or 3 times amont on and off i believe stress related though have significantly reduced stress and hence a seldom have any alcohol at all but put on weight was 14 stone now 15 st 10 pounds as dont have energy to exercise where three to four years ago i ran3 to 5 miles every day exercising 30min to 60 mins a day i now struggle three flights of stairs or half a mile slow walk once or twice a week and instead of looking forward to retirement now consider just giving up on life completely just putting my affairs in order for my family its good to see doctors speaking out thank you .

Now as a LMHR-mitochondriac, I must say think twise. It is a Pandoras box. No one believes you and you get little support on your journey. Is it wort it? Hell Yeah, learned to play the didgeridoo along the way ;)

My husband was informed by the doctor that he needed to consider taking statins. The week before, he saw the nurse practitioner to discuss his blood results. She said eat a handful of nuts a day.No mention of statins. My husbands tests were fine. He is not overweight, blood pressure fine, no family history, cholesterol 3 and .85 hence why it was suggested a handful of nuts.He is on no meds.He walks every day. So its his age thats against him. So no, he will not be taking statins.

I had been on statins for at least 25 years. I weaned myself off of a 20 mg dose after stopping my doc knowing that my liver and kidney function has not been optional for years. All they would ever say is “lay off of nsaids and drink more water.” I drink water constantly and I rarely ever take nsaids. I found it very difficult to lose weight. After taking statins out of my diet and quitting sugar I’ve lost 30 lbs and am now at a normal weight. My calcium score was zero, so am not worried about a heart attack, and am seeing a new doc in a month. Hope he doesn’t push statins! Oh, yeah..I’m 66, and for the first time in ages I now sleep through the night without having to get up to go to the bathroom! There HAS to be a connection

Worth mentioning that the CARDS study, in which statins were administered to people with diabetes to prevent heart attack, stroke and other cardiovascular incidents, eas terminated early - the preliminary results were so good that it would've been unethical to continue withholding statins from the 'no statins' group in the trial.
