Certainly would be nice if you shared what freaking “custom cable” you used. I mean this thing is useless without that tidbit of extremely important information.
How much wood chunks would you use for an average sized butt ? Thinking about getting one of these and trashing my pit boss pellet. I use my blackstone mostly when I want burgers but will use this as well when I want that fire kissed burger. Are flare ups a major problem ?
12V external power is not needed to get 100% fan speed. 5V external is enough to run at 100%. I rarely run above 60% on my 1050, so an external battery may not even be necessary with the GS
Wow your lucky over a year had to replace my controller twice, 2 of the door switches failed, and the worst, one of the wires for the temperature sensor came off the worst plug ever made, the connection to the plug with a 4-40 nut and the controller somehow still worked and ran the grill full blast until I came and saw the paint melting off the back of the grill. Don't buy Masterbuilt it's dangerous.
Your what? to run more than 5 volt? I think there are different ports on Anker battery. With the Fireboard 2 Pro, and I think Drive, an external 5V power source is all you need to get the fan to 100%. You do not need 12. You need that on the older Fireboard controllers.
That's the sound of the auger trying to turn with wood chips wedged between it and the auger tube. You're lucky nothing broke because using _anything_ other than Traeger's own pellets in a traeger grill voids the warranty.
Hey thanks- this put me over the top on buying one, I’d seen some bad reviews surrounding the quality (of perhaps the earliest release). Do you have a video on installing the fireboard?
@@Smokingmeatsbbq I figure fit up is potentially the only difference. Do you have any videos on how you made that thing solar powered? I just love all this electronic modding you've done.
yes check out my video titled “must have gravity series add ons.” I talk about it there and have the links needed. It’s just a simple cable and a battery pack.
This is a weber grill light. Its a snug fit, but its nice to have light when you open the hood at night. I'll put the link in the description of this video now.
@johnmccaffery5186 5 months ago Great tip on the GST connectors and the 5 V/12 V adapter, was about to spend big money on alternative. was thinking about more probes also.Ash catch mode freat idea too. Thanks.
I don't need this toy , I want this toy ....... the Controller that Masterbuilt gives with the grill is in a word a PIECE of sheet !!!! They literally went with the lowest bidder when deciding which chinese company to buy the controller from !
How does the battery hold up for longer cooks? Was looking at an inverter but your battery pack looks like a pretty good solution - and less expensive.
I've been using this pack for over a year now. I also occaisionally use a different pack if this one is dead. I typically find that I can get through any length of cook including 15 hour brisket cooks.
I just bought mine already built from Home Depot, no owners manual included. How do I get the temperature computer to work? There’s no way to do it with batteries? I have to use some solar charger and cable? I feel like my floor model may be missing something here, at least a cable for the power?
It sounds like you were missing the 110 V wall adapter cable that you will need to operate the unit. You may want to reach out to Masterbuilt to see if they will replace it for you or you could buy one from them directly.
I have had my Masterbuilt 3 years now. Hands down the best griller/smoker I have ever used. Having said that there is a new griller/smoker on the market I got my eye on......
The back damper is from Klotes Mods, the handle? I’m not sure what you are referring to. If it’s the light on the handle, it’s just a Weber grill light.
@@Smokingmeatsbbq I had seen the lss mods for this. Their back damper was great but you have to loosen it everytime to open the lid. Klotes mods seems a much better alternative.
Just used your code and pulled trigger. Been getting great results on a $99 ChiCom knockoff. Decided to go ahead and get smoker #7. Favorite is offset if time allows. Most used are pellets because time does allow. Barrel seems to fall right into that area in between. Not too much longer to get cooking than pellet grill. And we are short of smokers down here in The Republic of Texas. Lol Thank you
I have a camp chef pellett grill. I rarely have to vacuum it as it has a trap door for the ash you just pull a lever when youre done. Id really like one of these gravity grills but i use the pellett grill for everything from pizza to frozen chicken nuggets. Just the ease of being able to hit start and go prep food is nice. And or call the wife and say hey hun will you start the grill. 😅.. I do feel like i can get some better meals out of the gravity but i haven't justified it in my head yet. And space wise id need to get rid of the pellett grill.
I will agree that a pellet smoker is faster to start… however it’s not that big of a difference. That’s where the differences end. After that these things can do anything and more that a pellet can do. And do it with flavor!
@Smokingmeatsbbq I was going to upgrade my pellett grill but I'm thinking about giving mine to my father and getting a gravity. Then if I'm satisfied getting him one.
Great video, I never thought to use my Masterbuilt 560 (especially since I did the fireboard drive 2 conversion as well) I will be doing an overnight hold on it next brisket. Thx buddy
