We are no longer willing to wait for "One Day..." so with 2 bikes and 4 panniers and 2 passports and over 34 years in each others company we are heading off to explore the world on two Honda CB500X motorcycles. Journey starts in Canada in July 2022 and the plan is to follow our noses to where ever adventure takes us. There will be joy and pain and lots and lots of laughter! We are creating these videos as a way of keeping our family involved with our travels, as a way to pass on information to fellow travellers, and as a memory of all the fun we had and how free we felt and what awesome places we passed through! We are retired farmers from New Zealand, we have two daughters and two grandies and a BIG sense of adventure! Nick has been riding motorcycles for 40+ years and Bec just for 18 months. Let's go!!!
I've Ridden the Rainbow Road on a MTB (mountain bike) My understanding is the southern end (to lake tennyson) is a public road, the Northern end is Private through Rainbow Station but the road is open in winter to allow access to the Rainbow ski field, thanks for sharing
Great job. I recently did that in the opposite direction on my BMW G650GS Sertao. I am new to this type of riding and this type of bike having returned to motorbikes after 30+ years on 4 wheels. I very quickly realised that its not as easy in my 60s as it was in my 20s. I absolutely loved that ride though. Only had a couple of really tense moments. You did really well on the water crossings. I was way more cautious and stopped at almost every one to take a good look before crossing. Well done you.
What's beautiful about your incredible journey, is that you both don't have to look for treasure in this world since you are traveling with it and that it is on the other motorbike... and sometimes on the ground depending on the circumstances 🤭. It was an honor to meet you on this parking lot of supermarket. 🥰 Flo (your new French subscriber)
Thank you Flo, it was wonderful to meet you also. We treasure every day of our journey ...there is never a bad day! Bec fell off her bike again! This time in Portugal and broke the foot peg :D
Great job! Thanks for getting your videos up. We're hoping to do our own RTW trip in two more years when our son is done with school, we've been watching all your videos as inspiration! Keep up the good work and congratulations on your success thus far.
Hey Guys, just recently subscribed to your channel and have been catching up on your earlier stuff around NZ. The American videos appear to start with WABDR, just wondering where the earlier ones can be found?
Hi William, thank you so much for your comment. we haven’t posted a lot of videos of our Americas travels yet. We have all the go pro footage and photos saved and will edit them but unfortunately they take soooo much time to create that we found we were compromising our travels by having to sit in front of the laptop editing. We do post on Instagram most days and have a blog that update on regular basis …but the videos will have to wait until we have more time.
Hey Guys, thanks for getting back to me. I totally understand your situation and admire your decision to make your trip the priority and not RU-vid. I’ll search for your blog and follow that…. Read instead of Watch, a skill that seems to be disappearing is this tech savvy, social media dominated world. Ride safe.
What a beautiful country you live in guys. I saw the article about you in Mad or Nomad and decided to look at your videos. I'm enjoying them and decided to watch from the start, so it will be a while before I'm up to date. Keep safe and Keep riding ATB Big Dave Scotland
Thanks David ...we are still amazed that people want to watch our videos and read our bags etc. so messages are really encouraging! :D. Sorry there isn't any up to date ones of our current trip. We will get around to editing all the footage we take, but at the moment they take so much time to edit and put together and that takes away from our travel experience. Thanks again
Thank you so much for showing us this part of Peru - the WOW country. We admire your courage to battle those mountain roads on two wheels. Keep on turning the pages!
You both are doing really great. So very remote and still climbing that road up the mountains behind the truck. The video is showing every battle and every ooohhh and aaaahh. You really nailed the epic scenery. Top job Beccie and Nick. Amazing and keep safe so we can enjoy more. 🤩 😍🙋♀️🙋♂️🏍️🏍️
Well Bec, you are a real dare devil 😈 riding that mountain pass. 😅 You change the hard panniers for soft ones. For what reason? Take care. 👍🏻👋🏻🙋♀️🙋♂️
What stunning, the bursting off the volcano 😮. You are really doing an good job, filming comments and enjoying riding with the group. Good job. 👍🏻🙋♀️🙋♂️
@@bikespanniersandpassports 🤣it is winter here and to cold, dark evenings under a blanket with a bowl off chips watching RU-vid. The best thing to do. 😜 You are making nice videos, they are similar to ours. We have a lot off common things. The bikes( we also ride CB500X ) children and grandchildren. The only thing is that we can’t travel the world yet. So we will watching you guys and dream on. So keep on making the video’s like you do and enjoy live. 👍🏻😘😍
Trip of a lifetime guys - great for the soul! Compliments on the outstanding quality of your videos, by no means easy when you're on the move. Have a wonderful festive season 🙂. Cheers, Geoff
Thanks for the feedback Geoff. we have to admit we were a little nervous of you guys seeing our new overseas driving habits! Every country seems to have its own rules of the road so you have to spend the first day or two seeing how they ride and then compromise your riding style to fit in while still keeping as safe as possible ...safety bubble and all. The good thing is that in these heavily motorcycle populated countries other drivers (cars/trucks etc.) are so much more motorcycle aware. A great festive season to you too. Take care Nick and Bec
Glad you are enjoying them Jared! We have been super slow with getting videos online ...sometimes they take so much time to edit that it kills the fun of the adventure.
Hi Geoff, we were planning on doing more videos but it takes so much time to edit them so have decided to wait to make them when we have a bout of bad weather etc. and are holed up in a motel somewhere. we post more regular trip updates on instagram if you are a member (its free!) instagram.com/bikespanniersandpassports/ , we also have a blog on our website www.bikespanniersandpassports.com/blog.
Well done you guys! I have missed the regular postings and thought you must be off on your globe trotting now. My wife and I love your videos and look forward to them eagerly. Your riding, editing and honesty are superb. Keep up the good work!
Thank you :) we post more regular trip updates on instagram if you are a member (its free!) instagram.com/bikespanniersandpassports/ , we also have a blog on our website www.bikespanniersandpassports.com/blog. We are still taking the video footage but it takes a long while to edit so are leaving the videos for a while so we can spend as much time as possible exploring :)
Hi Guys! Great to see you on the small screen - very professional. Every good wish for the big trip, I'm looking forward to being a vicarious follower! Geoff in Coromandel
