Respect to Freedom for being open and honest about his graffiti career. No acting hood or exaggerating about how much he did. Very refreshing to hear someone answer without the Bravado. After all at the end of the day NYC graffiti was a child's game like black time 123 and kick the can so when guys in their 50s and 60s talk about it with that don't you know who I be and how hard rock I am attitude looks crazy to me now that I'm in my 50s..
In Australia I saw BG183 in the IGT fanzine in the late 80s (in issues that were published in the mid 80s that I bought directly from Phase 2). Then later I saw heaps of his panels in the glossy colour graffiti magazines in the 90s. And the Source too! Then in the 2000s I saw all of those same panels and lots of new TATS walls online. What a dope artist. Respect.
I’ve still got the letter that Phase 2 wrote thanking me for supporting the magazine. I think he also talked about being stoked that copies of the mag were making it to Australia.
Always dug MACK’s pieces. His pieces seemed to fit the panels perfectly. And always with nicely proportioned letters, nice thick 3Ds. Bright colours. Dope fills.MACK’s pieces were fresh!
One day me and my man Share37 got bagged by vandal squad at Baychester layup on the 5s,and while they had us in the pattywagon,we saw(who we believed was)Bio and Shame125 entertaining the tracks to the layup and they started chasing them. They got away easily.I can literally still remember the look on Bio's face looking back at the cops while we was chasing him in the van.
If you didn’t have beef in the 80’s as a writer, you really weren’t in the tunnels like that then. The 80’s was rough but real dudes never thought about not going somewhere because there might be beef. Cats who thought like this were soft and usually became prey. FBA, Flite TDS and then Fame CityCity were very territorial about the 145 th lay-up. If we didn’t know you or feel you, you got vamped. Point blank. Tack, Kaze, Spade, Airborne, Rask, Baby Rock were all FBA and affiliated with Ball Busters. That’s why herbs could not paint there in peace.
@@MrUpinthebronx recently rewatched it and I think I seen him at the bench... with rip kayslay and kase2... only reason I prolly missed him was because UA seen had a full part...
