What can I expect reception wise from a Philips BIF 503 A? Purchased it in an auction but don’t know what to expect. It is working at least for a BBC channel and what sound like Chinese channels.
Did you change any component, because of the 9 volt battery? Or did you solder it in place, and that's it? I maybe want try it on my fly swatter. I already installed A 0,22 capacitor, that creates a nice spark, but i want more,to have fun with the flys.
In Tasmania when i was at school in the 80s and 90s , these were common place in many schools along with the xpelair fan heater range which had the square covers . They were replaced by air conditioners and phased out in the early 2000s . Id say these GEC models go back to the 50s and 60s
Fyi 9 volts are too many amd eventually you'll do nothing but short circuit and then its useless. Volts make the arc jump further. *not needed* hook up several AA's or C's in PARELLEL and you increase the amps. You want more amps than volts.
Lovely 50Hz arcing sounds. By the way, the arcing is caused by the metal magnetron cover breaking down. If you replace that it will probably work perfectly fine again.
John you crack me up bro! You say I’m not sure what the age is of these batteries and shows the battery with 2013 date on if I ram rightly lmfao Bro you are hilarious 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
