You as well as everyone else knows there is no such thing as ghosts! You are lying through your teeth! The only reason you are saying all these lies is to bring lots of tourists so you can make a pile of money!

Your grace, RU-vid recommended your clip to me and I have to say I found it fascinating. As you said, Paul is a real character, but you are an absolute natural on the screen. Loved it.

I listened to the Podcast about the ghosts. There are a few unanswered mysteries. Who was the medieval man blocking Violet from going to the kitchen at age 9 ? Were the 2 children coming out of the closet, still playing hide and seek ? Did Oliva feel a connection to the person calling her name ? Is that a clue to her past life ? Fascinating storytelling : )

That is one very beautiful castle, I really love the sausage idea. I have a political belief that if I eat enough sausage, I will become a super hero named sausage man, where I will get an expensive pay check in the style of a billion air.

really liked this ..poor duke and duchess (no irony) historically one of the things that everyone's ancestors keep neglecting is the roof! .. pauls story and their chatting was great wasn't it..he's definitely a trusted person who explained it all wonderfully ...could you maybe explore some sort of crowdfunding or liase with a local college to give roofing students the opportunity to work and learn it would be a good opportunity to give something back to your community under pauls aegis of course!

Hello everyone, just seen your video (after randomly looking for duchess of devonshire chickens..and seeing one of their rams joining the army as a mascot...)..really enjoyed the chat between the two of you Nick is lovely and authentic (but i'm wondering if the cattle are his real passion) the duchess questions were really good weren't they.. it was a gentle informative and easy watch which threw up other questions for me as i love sheep and my husbands father was a dairy farmer! the only thing i would say on a presentation note .. whoever is doing the lighting ..woeful..the duchess should be shown as an attractive alive pinky colour! (her own) anyway thank you for the video we really enjoyed it people have become so removed from the land this is exactly the sort of thing that should be piquing their interest best wishes mrs c

Why do ghosts only appear in old buildings that need loads of maintenance? I promise, if the place was rewired, there would be no more ghosts. Ghosts only appear to people who are ignorant of all the things that need repair around an old house. Ghosts are figments of the imagination only in the minds of those who are ignoramuses when it comes to the workings of plumbing, electrics, drying and shrinking wood, drafts, and basic physics. The only crazies at Belvoir Castle are superstitious humans who are brain broke and full of nonsense. P.S. WD40 will cure your squeaky doors and other basic mechanicals. We know far too much to believe in the nonsensical claims of ghosts.

Something about living on those country estates and castles offering a back to basics with bit of a panache ethos. This wealth and affluence does a great deal to promulgate and allow arcadia living to flourish.

Thoroughly enjoyed all your videos gaining a wee peak into your “life in heritage” ! Hoping you’ll continue as there’s clearly much too share, going by your video about Ghosts/Poltergeists . Embracing the mysteries of life isn’t for everyone because it requires us to be open minded. There’s always the element of benevolent and malevolent aspects and agree with your advice “go into the light”. I’ve had numerous unexplainable experiences over the years some examples: The case of of missing a chunk of time whilst on a road trip with my family in Southern Africa. About an hour into the drive (of a 2hr 45 drive ) on a long stretch of road. Dad pointed out the unusual cloud that was very low. So unusual it had colour to it we hadn’t seen. We stopped our car and Dad took a few photos using us favourite antique box camera. It was an eerie sight, no other cars were seen and it was quiet. Needing to keep on going we hopped back into the car, and by this stage the cloud had lowered to the road level. We drove through it…dense mist couldn’t really see much and had to take it slow with our headlights on. What seemed to be about 15-20 minutes the mist cleared up to bright sunshine and blue sky. Dad then said that was a bit strange then he said what is even stranger it seems we’ve only got about 30 minutes or so to our destination! Thinking it was impossible we had lost about an hour and 20 minutes and we knew we hadn’t driven that long in the mist! You can imagine we’re all very perplexed about what just happened. Dad made a passing joke about alien abduction but I think he was attempting humour to quell our feelings of high strangeness! Nowadays not sure 🤔 Many a true word spoken in jest. Another high strangeness account - on occasions I’ve awoken from a deep sleep smelling a beautiful fragrance, not something I’m familiar with either. No one else is in the home. It’s only in my bedroom. It will linger there for about half an hour and then goes. I find it a very comforting smell but can’t quite put my finger on the essence of the fragrance. My sister and I had an extraordinary experience when our dear wonderful father passed away. I had the privilege of being with him as his spirit slipped away. Before he transitioned, I said we would miss his presence so much , if he was able, could he send a sign? We were driving home from Berkshire hospital, Mum was uncontrollably upset, I was trying to console her and my Sister was dealing with heavy traffic, when we were nearly pushed off the road by a large van. Having to avoid the Van taking off our right fender my sister slowed down. As this Van cut across, on the back of Van’s doors were three letters D.A.D - I kid you not! Both vehicles coming to a sudden stop on the side of the road. We were so taken aback, stunned into silence looking at each other and then bursting into uncontrollable laughter! The poor chap driving the van rushed over apologising profusely and asking us if we were ok? He was obviously confused in seeing us. We explained the situation. He explained he had no idea what happened but suddenly found the van veering off to the left and he had difficulty in correcting the steering. Dad was to visit my sister and I a few nights later, exhausted she and I had fallen asleep on her bed. It was 3:25 I was suddenly awake and became confused by this pinkish glow in the room. Thinking it was coming from the crystal salt lamp I went over to turn it off but wasn’t on. Yet I could see this colour. I couldn’t see where else it was coming from and then remembered being told years ago how loved one’s spirits may be seen in soft hue of colour . I woke my sister saying I think Dad has come to visit. She could see the colour too and argued it must becoming from the lamp, or street light/signage, or the computer screen. I said I had already checked, we both sat there for a minute saying nothing. We started to talk to him. Sharing our favourite memories and what we would miss most of him. We chatted away feeling a lot of love and said how deeply grateful he came into our lives 18 months after our biological father had died so unexpectedly, taking on a young family and becoming the only father we knew and loved so immensely and drifted off back to sleep.

I love furnishings with an oriental flavour. Colour richness and images are simply beautiful. Wabi Sabi is a philosophy I’ve adopted into my life too. The sublime chinoiserie wallpaper craftsmanship by De Gournay is extraordinary and even more extraordinary it allows you to be able to continue to pay homage to past on a continuum! Just Brilliant!

I so enjoyed the the story behind Elizabeth’s Saloon and would love to hear more of Elizabeth’s life. It’s obviously a well lived space to be enjoyed. They say if only walls could talk - I’d say if only carpets could show us the variety of people who’ve walked, stood, sat and played on rugs. Again it reminds me of my Mums love of hand woven rugs and we had a multitude of them in our homes bring comfort, warmth and stories too for each rug came with it’s own background. I hope the restoration has gone well and that you’ve come to a viable solution on preserving that beautiful carpet’s longevity.

That’s a very sizeable roof undertaking! Gosh 10 years to shore up for that part of Castle roof - that’s extraordinary. Paul makes a great point about weather changes and volumes of water the roof has to redirect. Collection of the rainwater is such a sustainable way for various usages. Roofs are an expense for anyone, but not fixing them has a far greater impact to home/estate especially nowadays what with weather patterns being unpredictable.
