What a horrible idea. This will destroy areas like historic Hell's Kitchen as real estate developers crush more buildings into the densest borough in the country, and affordability will not improve. Look at every Manhattan neighborhood where developers have been given the green light to build tons of new construction in the past few decades. Housing prices do not improve but developers get richer and communities get pushed out.
Rent prices go up because of the shortage of homes. About a hundred years ago, NYC was building hundreds of thousands of new housing units each year. Today they build about 20k-30k per year. An order of magnitude less than they did in the past. Like Mark Levine says, this underbuilding is caused by artificial and outdated density restrictions.
Well, they should build a new one, but not that piece of glass junk that I saw on this video. Better to rebuild what was once there that had been criminally destroyed.
Manhatanites, consider moving to the Dallas Forth Worth Metroplex - you can buy a house here for as little as $300k (that’s $2k a month house payment), no state income taxes, world class arts and culture, and good high paying jobs so you can save for retirement and your kids college educations. Frisco is a great neighborhood with a lot of affordable home availabilities and the schools are really great here. It’s time to upgrade and live a more comfortable life - you’ll find Dallas Texans are incredibly warm and welcoming people. So leave the high taxes and dangerous subways of Manhattan and come on down and check Dallas out! We’re just a 3 hour flight away!
38:10 disgusting. You are championing approving something in “record time” to approve a 94th street development with ZERO regard to the Community Board’s concerns, much less any of the residents’ neighborhood you are destroying. This is not an affordable housing win. This is an opportunity lost. A true win, a good deal for the city would to have NOT capitulated to the profit hoarding developer but instead to insist on green space for he community and a 50% affordable housing attribution. Stop trying to make east 94th street a beacon of success. It is the opposite. Let’s get things back on track and demand true affordable housing and true commitment to the families and the concerns of the community and the community Board.
Excelente explicación una pregunta doctora yo fui deportado con penalidad de 5 años pero estoy aplicando a la cita CBP one y quisiera saber si el el momento de que me salga la cita puedo tener algún inconveniente para la entrada a los estados unidos
Exactly . It was always ugly but then they added the mismatched protrusions and ugly annoying screens playing adverts and now it's a junky area. Replace it all with something classy at least. Even better would be to rebuild the original.
A word to the wise, bro. People can read about the truth and ignore the sounds made with faces. They know about the Hannibal Directive. If you think trying to use US military assets to fight for Israel is still an unquestioned scenario, you haven't been paying attention. How many of those hostages has the IDF killed already by indiscriminate bombing? I don't think you care. This is an opportunity to further the land grab a little more. LOOK AROUND at western embassies in the region. You will get pushed into the sea, or else have to nuke yourselves to keep anyone else from having the land. I can do math. I'm not having a Fredo Moment (I'm SMART, I can do things. I'm SMART, not like everybody SAYS, I'm SMART and I want RESPECT!). Hamas only wanted to get video game-raver tw@ts into a real ground fight. Go on then. Your SMART.
What a terrible idea. Why would you bring vehicle exhaust down to the level of people, first off? Second, why would you penalize those who live in Battery Park City and FiDi, by removing a faster route around local traffic to get home? Third, have you considered just how badly the BBT gets backed up -- so much so that it can take 10+ mins. to get through the underpass? Why would you bring all of that traffic down to ground level and add it to street traffic? Have you look at what the plans were for lowering the BQE -- and the public opinion and environmental concerns? Did you do studies? Seems ill-conceived.
The on/offramp to the FDR and underpass to/from West Street are incredibly important. Removing them is an insane proposal. Democrats are slowly destroying NYC.
In Seattle, the Alaskan Way Viaduct was finally removed in 2019. This gave residents access to the waterways again and better views. This is a project I can get behind for an unobstructive views of Brooklyn.
Make them move MSG. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Don’t spend $7B or so on a face lift when we all know that in 10 years or even less MSG is going to want to move. When they do move, it will be on their own terms and unless the MTA has the will power (probably no if they already sunk $7B) the air rights will be sold to a developer. The developer’s priority will be to build high - there’s also a chance that MSG will seek to rebuild on the same spot. The opportunity to improve the tracks and build a grand station will be gone. NYC can have that now with the $7B the MTA/State is willing to commit to the current face lift plan. Make them move!
@@Sacto1654 I lived in NYC in the eighties and nineties when people used to say that tall buildings could not be built anymore because they were too expensive and there was no more space. There is plenty of space in NYC. New York is at a point where if a landlord's commercial space is not premium, they will not be able to lease it to top companies. Space can be found - and near good transit options. Just think of some of the plans the governor was floating around - letting developers build tall buildings near Penn Station - no one was telling the developers that there was no room - they would have just taken that land if people did not want to sell. Where there's a will . . .
