If you're interested in learning how to make arrowheads from the Gulf Coastal region, you're in the right place! My name is Jake Anderson and I love to flintknapp. I've been doing it about 3 years and thought it would be awesome to share my knowledge with those just starting this hobby, or for those interested in the craft. I hope you consider subscribing as I will try to post one video each week!
Hey man, I have wondered for years about how to flute a Clovis point. I’ve imagined it several times but this is the first time I’ve actually seen it done. Thanks for clarifying that!
That one white spot on the edge near the tip had me freaking out. So easy to break a tip! I need a kit like yours. Your boppers are nifty and I love your pressure flaker. Arthritis is a big problem. But I dig what you’re doing!
You are the goat when it comes to this craft its amazing how your work has become legendary and you have created your own style the Indians will spend centuries studying and trying to duplicate your work ❤
I have seen some point hunters in south Texas finding what they call "root beer" colored points. They are opaque and look root beer colored when held in the light. What kind of stone are these made from if you know?
I do love your work but, I was hoping you might let us in on a bit more info on Mr. White and how to get his boppers. Just useing the largest I have, I am convinced bigger is often better. Thanks!
I am really enjoying this! Arthritis in my hands kinda ended my knapping days, just like it did blacksmithing. But I really enjoy watching you do it! I analyze what I see and try to guess your next move.
I use my wife's site, my name is Norm. It is always nice to see a perfectionist knapper, like my good friend and fellow knapper Tim Mullen. Excellent job!!
Hey partner. Enjoying your content. I've been interested in flint-knapping for decades but am just now in a position to pursue it. I recently retired and moved to Tucson. Any suggestions on beginner tools? I found from experience it's generally best to to ask an expert before buying tools in any new venture. Also any sources for material near me. Thanks in advance!
I am more than just a little jealous of your stone selection! Great video! I’m a graying old man who has been fascinated with breaking and grinding and pecking stone for over 30 years. I don’t know much!
Hello Jake! Your point you showed here and the points you're working on all look great. Your case of coral points sounds neat. You'll have to do a reveal of it when you get it where you want it.
So your broad flakes not only are your thinning flakes but also to create more even flatness on both sides so the smaller edge thinning flakes create the convexity, using the two flakes to get that uniformity… gunna try this tomorrow , im always blown away how that edge profile always looks so clean and thin even when the points aren’t super super thin. Thanks for the awesome tips and insight
looks to have been in a fire, thermal pot lid flakes are clear on the dark side . im not saying its "heat treated" just potentially had atleast one face exposed to a rapid extreme heat /cool cycle like a brush fire , cool rock though and well done forcing a point from it
Good to have you back my friend! Yes, it did look a bit challenging, but probably because it was still raw. My father found a point years ago where there was a clear line going through part of it when you held it up to the light. Pretty cool when that can happen. But with your job making it all work, you did well with what (to me) looked to be a bit crumbly at times.
