Our Family had an Italian food restaurant on Manchester called Scarpellino`s years ago I think there is a Mexican place now. We never made much money there. It was a tough place to make a profit there compared to the valley where we did better.

My mother(born in 1937) Grew up in Inglewood, and she could tell you even more about how it's changed. It was a sleepy little town where no one locked their doors nor had to keep tabs on their children's whereabouts. Lots of orange groves and the crime rate didn't even rate. She has lots of great stories to tell about her life there in Inglewood Cali. Maybe i should put her on RU-vid!😂
Why can’t it just be generational change and growth of a city? It costs more to live and work in California period!!! Early 1900s Inglewood was a farming community that became a recreational playground for the Hollywood jetset in the 30s-40s(Hollywood Park Racetrack) that changed into a White-Spanish and a few Black families working class neighborhood after World War 2 …The late 60s and early 70s I remember seeing more White people living and working in Inglewood. Mid 70s I noticed more Black people as well as Spanish people moving to and working in Inglewood with White individuals moving or passing away. Now it seems to be a mix of Black Spanish and to a lesser extent White people living and working in the area.
Take your asses to rancho Cucamonga and make another inglewood. Its beautiful there and becoming the new place to be for blacks. Quit trinna be all in beverly hills all in ppl face who dont want you around. Make a Beverly hills in the I.E.
Ppl love inglewood too f'n much... shit has always been trash keep it real. Wood lovers act like that shit special. Aint never been shit here. I came in 82'
Latinos now make up the majority of South LA, & they’ll continue to do so, as the Chicanos get pushed out of East LA and more immigrants come through the open borders. Inglewood might see a minor influx of young single professionals, but Latinos will probably make up the majority in the years to come. After Covid, LA county is becoming very undesirable for well to do families, as the county’s schools are failing miserably and the taxing of the upper middle class. There’s definitely not going to be all that much of an influx of yuppies in Inglewood period, no well to do family would want to send their kids to those schools or deal with all of the typical Cali BS, especially in an area like Inglewood.
What people don't understand this is part of the American dream, if the people can stay and keep their property they can survive. It's all over America !
Don’t let this video confuse you about the fact that Inglewood is changing for the good. Yes there’s new businesses etc but at night it gets crazy. Freaks come out at night and it’s wild in the hood.

It’s amazing how this talks about gentrification regarding the football stadium and these corporate businesses coming into Inglewood. However, the first gentrification was illegal immigration which imported a lot of poverty and crime into Inglewood no investor’s wanted to do business so Inglewood was on its way to bankruptcy. Those apartments and properties are owned by Corporations that were flipping the rent at 100% which was forcing a lot of Blacks out Hispanics were living three families into two bedrooms and we were paying that high rent that most Black people could not afford so Black people were being pushed out. Moreover, the city, county, and state were quiet for years until homelessness population became noticeable. So again we need to have a conversation about Illegal immigration, or the sanctuary cities that honor these people coming into already broken communities
Agreed. Natural hair so beautiful, blk women embrace natural hair and blk men stop committing crimes, build communities, take care of the children you create, prove to blk women that you appreciate natural blk beauty by saying “no” to colorism and we will finally be on the path to rebuilding the community 😊❤

It brought the Rams after it killed Hollywood park racetrack Now those like myself who lived there In the mid eighties Til I moved to the San Fernando valley Then the only time I went to Inglewood was the racetrack Now those of Wil never recognize the city
This brings back a few memories. I remember going to the movies and then later the swapmeet at the Roadium. I also went to El Camino College over forty years ago. We lived all over the South Bay then moved to Michigan ten years ago. California has become cuckoo for cocoa puffs. Enjoy it while you can, it won't be long before the gangsters show up and start shooting!
I grew up in Venice. Now I live in f**king Lancaster. My uncle has lived in Inglewood for years! Worked for many years at the Louisana chicken that was on century near Crenshaw then got a job at Dulans soul food. My uncle soon will be moving in with us here in Lancaster. I hate Lancaster and I hate where i grew up because my hometown is no more than a distant memory
I love the park, but the basketball gym is always closed. The phone number doesn't work, so I don't know who to contact if I wanted to hoop at the gym.
Hopefully, there is a "village" of people, cat carers and lovers, who care enough to assist this very kind man, Mr. Carl. May this report raised a growing awareness of folks who study, live & work around there to CARE for this cat community.
Born in LA, but largely grew up in Inglewood. Finally relocated to LA 7 years ago (Hyde Park area, part bordering on the Inglewood Park Cemetery). Don't miss Inglewood ONE DAMN BIT to this day except for that long-celebrated Randy's Chinese Food place on Market St. which I still have a serious hankering for every now and then, lol! More bad than good memories growing up there in general, plus it already started going downhill before I was even born (early-'80s). Schools were so bad, not even my own mother who used to be a teacher herself (Gardena HS) wanted me and my younger frat twin brother going to any of them. Neighborhood we lived in was well-known Blood territory at the time (Lockhaven), but it was those feral stray dogs I was more wary of when I was going out for a walk back then. Glad it's being gentrified left-and-right over this past decade, praying Clippers owner Ballmer finally decides to buy out that part of Inglewood I was forced to call "home" for far too long and gives it a much-needed makeover like it should've gotten back when the Lakers were still in town...
Times are changing The whites and middle class are returning to the inner city which was the suburbs before the 1960s where the blacks moved in from the South & in the 1970s where the Hispanics moved in due to immigration White & middle class tired of living in the hills & canyons The poor which is mostly Blacks & Hispanics are deliberately being sent to the IE. In about 10-15 years the IE will be the new inner city while Inglewood, Compton, South Central, Etc will become suburbs once again Hispanics and especially Blacks need to stop complaining and stop being lazy depending on the government and work harder and together to earn enough to continue to live in the area which is changing for the better If the city economy is getting better, than obviously there will be nice/high paying jobs/careers available in the city Stop complaining and blaming the government. Stop depending on government assistance and work harder, smarter, and together I’m black and I rather live in a middle class area than the hood in a run down building
