For me Vietnam was just alright as far as south east Asia, but I had Vietnamese friends to guide. But Japan is what you get when you mix puritanical culture and a constitution/economic system modeled after America. A successful combo in most respects. Though there is darkness there. Spent over a year in and around Tokyo for work. Good part of my life I won't forget, but had more than my fill by the end. Felt claustrophobic. Too similar places and people, things so conservative. Felt almost Orwellian after a while? Anyway I hope if you stay for an extended time, you do not feel the way I did. Happy travels!

dont allow ppl to lead you. if they are robbers your going into their trap. your lucky those guys were good guys and not thieves. never pass ppl your bag. get load and sim and use your maps. this way you dont have to trust ppl to lead you to locations. you can just have the freedom to go where you want, because you know where your going, and if you do, its much harder for ppl to scam you. also its great you show bad sides of india, because that is truth, but pls be constructive when you critisizse. pls dont judge a country by an underdeveloped area. in india, there are many underdeveloped areas, but there are many very deveoped and nice areas too, with many great amenities. do your research before you go, and if the nicer areas are more your scene. go there. i would submit to you that you just went to the less enjoyable areas for tourists, and made a case that the whole country sucks. try researching and really travelling around first, many clean, wonderful areas there.

The whole of India is like this, but many RU-vidrs try to portray a terrible country positively on RU-vid to get views from India. But the reality is that it is one of the worst countries.
