I lived my entire life deep in the Appalachian Mountains of South Eastern Kentucky and now live in Southern WV. My family had been here on one side, I am an enrolled member of the Eastern Band Cherokee and Muscogee Creek so we have been here since the beginning and the other side came into the Appalachians with Daniel Boone in the 1700's. It it the most beautiful place, but sometimes scariest places you can imagine. We lived way back in a holler, during the summer when we were out of school we would not see hardly anyone other then family at all we were so far back. We grew up with stories of Ut'lun'ta the one with spear fingers, and Yunwi Tsunsdi the little people, and alot of other characters from the scotts Irish Welsh of the other side of my family, haints, and witches, I think there is alot of truths, I think there is something spiritual about and powerful about these hills. I have seen things, felt things, heard things, that I can't explain. Heard others who have had experiences. I think there is something special about these hills
Middle English (denoting a type of clog): via Old French from late Latin gallicula, diminutive of Latin gallica (solea) ‘Gallic (shoe)’. The current sense dates from the mid 19th century.
