Jazz Improvisation with Dr Elle Calle, Afro Cuban Jazz Music 

In this video Dr. Salvatore Vinciguerra visits the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami, Florida to attend Jazz Roots. This video is part 3 in a series of videos on the Sound Check from February 9, 2024.
This video is the Jazz Roots Lecture and Jam Session that includes students from Doctors Charter School and those from across Miami-Dade County. The clinician for the evening is Dr. Elle Calle. He discusses and highlights the influences of Chucho Valdes and his all star band and what makes them unique to the Afro cuban music genre. Dr. Calle discusses piano and percussion grooves that set the tone for this type of music and how Chucho Valdes and Paquito D'Rivera studied music to help make them better musician and improvisers of jazz.
A Special Thanks to Lakeisha Firth and Jazz Roots for this wonderful opportunity. Jazz Roots is a outreach program at the Adrienne Arsht Center that allows local middle and high school students to attend the Sound Check, Jam Session, and performances with Jazz artists throughout the school year.
