Join me as I travel through my 40s trying to get my life in order. I'll be posting videos about my financial and health journeys. I hope you can come along and keep me on track as I go ❤️
I now have a website www.tgmlc.com/ I am very much not a professional website builder and it is a work in progress but I hope you enjoy. There are a lot of links to products I use and enjoy and I hope to add a lot of tips and updates as I go 😊
I also opened a PO Box if you'd like to contact me. You can reach me at: PO Box 133, Leander, TX 78646
If you want to try YNAB, the link below will get you a 34 day free trial. If you decide you want to sign up at the end of the trial you will get an additional 30 days for free (64 free days!!) and they will also give me 30 days free.
The Amazon Links below are to products that I use - these are affiliate links and using these will support me with a small percentage of the sale without costing you anything - thank you so much for your support!!
I had no idea what Ynab is but I’m so glad I found your channel from the glp1 weight loss. I need to work on my finances. Congratulations on the promotion!!! That’s so exciting. Congratulations on the new ride!
Oh, yay!!! I'm so excited for you if you decide to use YNAB! There is such a great community on You Tube for budgeting. Whatever way that you find works for you there will be people willing to share their tips. I also stumbled across it by overhearing my friends talking about it at a party (because YNABers 100% talk about our budgets at parties 😂) and went home to Google "Wine App for budgeting" It has changed my life and I hope it helps you as well! Also, thank you so much for the well wishes and for checking out my YNAB video ❤️
Happy to buy you some coffees! :) You're welcome. I also bought some additional coffees to offset the journal expense, but if you want to use them all for coffee, that is completely up to you! 🙂 Congratulations on your promotion. So happy for you! Also, I am keeping Emmet and your friend from work in my prayers. Have a great weekend. To God be the glory! 🙂
I did see that about the planner, that's why I placed my order this week ❤️ I got my 4 minute journal in already and the desk planner will be here tomorrow (according to the tracking) Thank you, again!!! Thanks for the prayers and the well wishes, I really appreciate them! I'm super excited to start this new position, it's something I think I will do well in. As to Emmett, he's still hobbling around and happy as ever as long as his pain is controlled. We're going to talk to the vet tomorrow about the possibility of a splint and if she thinks that would help. I will definitely keep y'all updated ❤️😊
Congrats on the promotion - im sure its well deserved and its perfect timing! I have to admit I was worried about your budget last week! So happy you ended up with a safe, reliable care you like and can now reasonably afford!
Lol, you and me both!! I was doing my best to stay positive and make it work but I was not at all thrilled about the added costs. It's such a relief to have this pay increase to look forward to. The fact that I'm also genuinely excited about the job is a big bonus as well! 😊❤️
Wow! Yes, California tends to be more expensive for a lot of things. Don't ya'll get better deals on fresh produce, though? I feel like that is always a big part of the budget for me, if I want fruit or fresh broccoli I have to acknowledge that I'm going to have to cut something out or over spend for the week.
Lol, it's like, why would I watch an ad that's longer than the video I'm in the middle of...not that any 15 minute ad can compete with rambly Becky going on about the awesomeness of YNAB 😂
Hi just catching up! Give it time, weight loss is a long game. It’s a struggle. I’m up almost 5lbs! I know it’s because I haven’t been giving my diet the attention it deserves since starting my RU-vid channel. 💕
It is always so up and down which is why I'm trying hard to stay focused on the long term goal. In the past I've always been discouraged if I gain from week to week but, I know now, that this is just a natural part of being human and I can look back and see where I was when I started and how far I've come. Starting a channel is a lot of work! I know I spend way more time than I would have thought on it but I still love it and am very thankful that I've done it. I don't think I knew you had a channel! I just opened it in another tab and will go check it out as soon as I'm done responding to comments ❤️😊
I have used the medicine to make better choices. I track my food in the app and stay within a calorie deficit. The medicine helps me stick to those things .’my first week I lost 7 pounds starting at 248.2. I’m using TIRZEPATIDE and love it. Not sure why it’s all caps lol . I weigh in and will post my update on Sunday ,it’ll be 6 weeks on the medicine. I’d encourage you to work on the habit building around nutrition. You got this! New subbie here. Rooting for you!
Wow!! Congratulations! I agree about the habit building. I've actually also been doing Wondr through my insurance and it's teaching me a lot about the mental aspect of eating. I can't wait to hear your update!! ❤️
I would consider Tirzepatide, mainly because you mentioned metabolism issues. I have a slow metabolism, and I’ve found great success with Tirzepatide. Keep going no matter what and keep focusing on protein/hydration. Thanks for sharing your journey! 😊
Thank you so much for your insight! I am definitely focusing on the nutrition and mental parts of weight loss, I actually also started using a program that my insurance offers for weight loss at the same time as the injections, I just haven't mentioned it yet but I do plan to talk about it soon 😊 Lol, that is exactly what my PCP recommended as well but agreed that starting with the Semaglutide for financial reasons was a good place to begin. Fortunately I think I may be able to change to the Trizepatide injections after I finish this round (I paid for them and they're helping some so I'll stick with them for now)
Counting calories is tricky, you learn that mayonnaise has 100 calories in a tablespoon and your sandwiches get sad, then there's when you eat, and it's never enough protein 😫 But, you're doing great Becky!
Trust me, I don't do gluten free by choice. Unfortunately I was diagnosed with Celiac 2 years ago and have had to change to a fully gluten free diet against my will 😟 If I could eat the gluten, I would eat ALL of the gluten! 😂
You still have to do the work of reducing your eating and increasing exercise. A friend never changed her ways and didn’t lose a pound. Others lost weight but didn’t have healthy eating plans and then gained it right back when they came off.
I 100% agree! ❤️ I've actually been working on that as well, I started Wondr the same week as the Semaglutides and have been learning a lot about the psychology of hunger and gauging when to eat. I hope your friend was able to turn it around and start losing!
Editing Software category - probably need to delete that target (as you also got it to Sept 2024 and not next year. and probably do with the same and select "custom target" and "have a balance". the other thing to make sure for it to repeat again, make sure the target date is set after the transaction will come out. so if it comes out on Sept 1 every year at least have the target date set a few days later like for example Sept 5 so when 2026 comes around it will reset automatically. - Zoe
I think for the mission lane Annual Fee category - choose custom (instead of yearly tab) -> then maybe "have a balance of $59" and toggle the repeat and change the dropdown menu to yearly. - Zoe
That is one of my favorite things about the app, how flexible it allows us to be when needed (or even just wanted 😂) Ugh, sorry you're having issues with them as well. I hope they fix them soon!
Life certainly throws curveballs at us, and your car going is a big one!! Being able to fit the payment in your budget is great, and not being stranded on the side of the road when your car breaks down is also great!
In case you were not aware - you can search transactions across ALL accounts with one search. Click on ACCOUNTS, then ALL TRANSACTIONS, then there is a search box that says “search transactions”. Type in the payee name or the amount and it will find all that , across all your accounts. Congrats on the new car!!
I think that’s the beauty of budgeting and plans, the goal isn’t to follow it exactly, it’s to have a plan and a guide to start with. Which is one thing I love about YNAB and how it doesn’t focus on “planned versus actual” when you WAM the money just goes where it needs to. It doesn’t matter where you thought it might go.
I completely agree! I don't like that I HAVE to move things around but I love that I CAN do it when I need to and it doesn't cause an avalanche of other things to "fix" ❤️
Way to adapt, Becky! I love how practical you've been. You're making intentional decisions, and YNAB clearly has helped you with that. Congrats on the new car! 🎉
Becky life is what happens when you make plans. WAM away and you've got this, you are doing so well. Having the skill sets to know what you need to do to make the numbers work is HUGE. Enjoy the benefits of a new car - reliability, no mechanic bills, less gas, acceleration!
Thank you!! I forgot to mention that I've also cut my Car Maintenance budget from $50 a month to $25 so that's nice! Lol, my grandma always used to say "Man proposes and God disposes" I just keep reminding myself of that 😂
Hi Becky, Terrific video and thank you for the transparency. Hope you are enjoying your new car. I'm curious about your food budget. Including both groceries and dining out. Do you cover some of Nathan's food or the household food? Or is it just REALLY expensive in TX along with having Celiac? Because I live in Michigan and our dining out and grocery budget per month is about $730 for my husband, my step son (who's 23) and I. I'm seeing yours at $650 a month. I know you take your family out a bit, so I'm wondering if that is why? I am just SHOCKED how much food costs in TX. It's more expensive here that it was a few years ago, but we spend about $400 to $500 for groceries MAX. I meal prep, but hubby doesn't like coming home for lunch or taking a lunch so, for his lunch and coffee during the week that is about $320 a month. It is what it is..lol If it weren't for that we'd probably just increase our groceries to $550 a month flat and I'd pack his lunch. I RARELY eat out. Like you, I work from home and if he and I go out to a meal, it's budgeted as a date night or an anniversary, mother's day, etc.. I think I eat out once every 3 months including, if we get carry out or a pizza. Are your mom's bills a non-negotiable, even for a season until you've paid off some of your debt? I am not trying to be disrespectful in asking you, but if she's not in a position, that's understandable, but if she could take them over for a year until you get out from under the zero interest card debt and some other things, that might be a nice boost. I love that you do that for your mom and it's amazing, but I've heard it said that like assisting people on an airplane, you should always put your "air mask" on first so that you can be even more helpful or generous, in your case, later. Love you girl. Praying for Emmet and all of you! HUGS!
Hmm, I'm not sure of the cost of groceries in this area vs other parts of the country but I do only pay for my own. We split things for the house but we either do 3 orders (his, mine and ours) and split the ours 50/50 or, if just one of us makes a run, we put it into SplitWise. I do know that the GF foods are significantly more expensive. Example - My old bread was 88 cents and would last me 2 weeks. My GF bread is $7 and lasts 1 week. The bagels are also $7 for only 4 of them. Thankfully I only eat 1/2 a bagel at a time but it's still WAY more than what Nathan pays for his, which I think is $3 or $4 for 6. There also isn't a way to do a knock of brand for most products like I used to do. There are only 1 or 2 options (if I'm lucky) for each thing and it's much more expensive than even the name brand of the regular food 😟 For my mom's bills, I totally get what you're saying and I've thought the same thing. If at all possible I want to keep covering what I can for her. She is able to but it would be really tight for her, even more than it is for me where I can cut other things out before having to lose something like cutting out groceries or gas money. Thank you so much for always being here and being so supportive! Love you too!! ❤️
I think you got so excited about Seth's car falling off your budget that the universe decided to have a laugh. New plan: us wine girls have Fran start a group lottery pool so we win and all retire early 😉 You're doing great Becky!
your looking amazing, I sorry about the hard day on Sunday, as you will see in my comment on your last week budget it was a hard and stressful week for me as well and i feel like I'm treading water but still treading so yah no drowning lol
Aww! Thank you! I'm so sorry about your puppy, they are just so loving it's not fair that they can't live forever. I hope your husband is feeling better! Lol, great attitude!! Treading water is definitely better than sinking, as long as we can do that hopefully we'll make some progress when we aren't paying attention!
it's all good, lol we had another big cost come up we lost our fur baby of 13 years do to her having a bad seizer. and just off of two weeks without pay due to hubby having his gallbladder out. Man, when i Rain it Pours.....🌧🌧🌧⛈sorry to hear about puppy, I use your clever fox link for a new planner for me.
Oh, Gina, I'm so sorry 😟 It does seem that everything comes all at once. Maybe that means we're going to be in the clear for the next few months. Thanks for using the link!! I'm about to order another one myself, which one did you get?
