Na minha opinião a Eva Marton é uma potestade em relação às 2 personagens , ELEKTRA/KLITEMNESTRA, uma voz forte e potente para estes papéis difíceis que exigem muito das cantoras !!!!
What a powerful, laser-sharp, glorious voice! I have a most treasured autograph from Dame Eva, when I served her at Harrods, when I was doing holiday work there in the early 80s. She was most kind and gracious, with the most fabulously rich speaking voice.. On a subsequent visit to the store, she even offered to act as language interpreter for some Italian customers I was having difficulty communicating with. I often think back to that special moment in my life,, and smile, thinking that the young Italian couple had no idea that they'd been 'sold' a leather wallet by a great Puccini soprano who had sung at La Scala! Thank you Dame Eva!
Brilliant recording of probably the greatest Turandot cast ever! Yet you only have pictures of Nilsson, why not Corelli a the very least, her great, great Calaf!
Die einzige Alternative zu Birgit Nilsson war die Münchner Sopranistin Marion Lippert, ihr Debüt an der Met 1968, dann weltweit gefeiert. Ihr letzter Auftritt 1974 mit F. Corelli. Vier Live Mitschnitte sind auf CDs erschienen. Die beste technische Aufnahme war in Tokio mit Solisten der Scala und der römischen Oper mit Lovro von Matacic als Dirigent.
Ovviamente non hai mai sentito Nilsson dal vivo. L'ho fatto, due volte: una volta con lei sul palco, un'altra dal pubblico. Non c'è registrazione che catturi la grandezza di quella voce... e questa registrazione è particolarmente carente. La voce della Nilsson era una delle più potenti di tutti i tempi. Il suo commento rivela una mancanza di esperienza.

I saw Dame Gwyneth in Butterfly in Vienna on February 8, 1972. At that time, in the relative early years, her voice was both warm and steady, - long before her vocal difficulties emerged. She was an unqualified delight for both one's eyes and ears.
I've just made the mistake of reading some of the comments below while listening to this marvel They are mostly a concatenation of ignorance, illiteracy, prejudice and downright stupidity. Just listen instead and avoid them.
Tatsächlich sieht für einen unerfahrenen Beobachter alles ziemlich seltsam aus. Zwei ältere Frauen geben vor, etwas Absurdes zu sein. Aber das ist hohe Kunst und höchste künstlerische und musikalische Leistung, die einen Sturm von Emotionen, Erlebnissen und Bewunderung für die professionelle Umsetzung hervorruft. Dies ist ein Meisterwerk! aller Zeiten.
Forse la più grande Turandot, certo il più grande Calaf della storia operistica e poi qualcuno viene a dirci che oggi non ci sono più cantanti come una volta. Bella scoperta anche ai tempi di Corelli e Nilson non c'erano cantanti come loro.
Il Calaf preferito di Birgit Nilsson era Giuseppe Di Stefano, lo disse lei alla radio in una intervista. Anche se gli stava un po stretta la parte trovo anche io Di Stefano il piu' bel Calaf, poetico e sognante. Corelli subito dopo.
@@fabriziomariagarzi5534 Di Stefano aveva una voce stupenda per alcuni ruoli ma non per Calaf . B. Nilson può dire quello che vuole ma solo Corelli poteva competere con lei.
@@lz43p15 ognuno ha le sue opinioni. Lei li ha visti in teatro? Le posso dire che Di Stefano aveva piu'volume di voce di Corelli e di Del Monaco, cosa che non e' mai stata messa in rilievo.
What a voice killing speed, especially for something this heavy. Stodgy pudding conducting. A shame because his Gotterdammerung with Nilsson from Bayreuth is so fleeting and alive.
He was about to die, and apparently a lot of the recording was done by his assistant. His other recordings of Elektra, live and in studio, are extremely high voltage.
