@@serpentbearer6649 As long as it’s actually been taken care of and you have some extra money to potentially fix some things it should be ok for a little while at that mileage. But in my opinion these engines suck and I’d buy a different vehicle for a daily driver
had a sts northstar and xlr ran perfect and the dts was a curse dont know why but dts was cursed took it to mechanics for all kinds of issues never could get it sorted out it would stall at intersections it was like the car tried to kill our family battery dead after two days oil leaked every where you park 120000 thousand miles2008 dts i dont know and neither did anyone else
I've had my 2008 DTS since 2017 and I still love it. In fact, I just spent about $5K to have the motor resealed from the oil leaks which is a problem. But that the first real money I spent outside of normal maintenance and I hope the money I just spent is the last big money I put into the car. I had them replace anything marginal while the engine was out and she rides like brand new now. I'm sorry yours was problem ridden but I love mines.
I have a 2006 DTS. The stabilitrak tracion control went out. It runs without it. I run all my vehicles with Amsoil in them, including my Cadillac. It runs great except for the stabilitrak. My 99' Jeep Grand Cherokee has Amsoil bumper to bumper, runs in full-time 4x4 and gets 19.7 mpg. The Cadillac gets 28 mpg on the highway. Look into it. Amsoil. Great stuff.
I have a 2010 dts love the dts. Only problem i have had has been the plastic piece in the transmission that breaks and your stuck in park or neutral or park. Easy fix part was around 5$ then new gasket ,filters and new transmission fluid and it back to being like new. Got the car with 95k and now just hit 100k .
Just misunderstood. Also sounds like somebody just didn't know how to correctly fix the problem. These issues can happen on any car including any of the older Cadillac's and older engines. This one just turned out to be one that needed the right person to fix. There's always going to be some bad examples here and there like anything else. The cars themselves are excellent, but it doesn't help when whoever is working on the car, doesn't know what they're doing. This is so typical and happens so much on all different types of vehicles. I hope this one ended up in the right new owner.
I got a 2006 with 90k miles got it to 120k then started having overheating issues and oil leaks. Common maintenance aswell adds up got it for $5.5k & have put over $5k into it to keep it alive… it’s worth it to me I love my DTS
I bought a used 2006 DTS for 2300.00 The right ballast on the headlight went bad and was quoted over 1700.00 to fix it. By three different shops. Luckily I sold it and made 200.00 bucks on it. Very expensive repairs on these cars.
I owned a 2006 and a 2008 DTS; and drove over 100K miles. Never had any sort of trouble at all. I'm sorry that your DTS was a disappointment. Mine were great.
I ended up selling it to someone who got it driving and cleaned up a bit, wasn’t worth the time to fix myself. So the car is probably still on the road
I had an 06 and I am split it had 90k miles on it when i bought it for 10k and I took it to 213k miles when i got rid of it i owned it for 2 and a half years before i was done with it i had it for a total of about 8 years it was a nice luxurious ride when I had it sunroof remote start heated steering wheel etc and it handled great but there are too many problems with it now to dump More money into it while having 213k miles plus everything for it is expensive and hard to fix for instance 200$ for the battery which is located under the back seat or remove half the grill and front quarter panel to change the headlight bulb and the oroblems u had repaired while owning are 4 coils power steering pump and hoses thermostat motor mount water pump wheel bearing and bulbs at 80$ for one
I own a 2008 DTS I’ve owned it for 3 years and it’s been a great car, the early DTS had problems with the engine, the problem was corrected after the 2006 year
Ive got a 2006 DTS owned for a month and a half, leaks oil , but paint and interior are almost absolutely perfect. Black with chrome factory wheels. gorgeous car, but a turd.
Get a 2007 with no active fuel management, newer ones got problems. Try to get one with decently low mileage too. Make sure the previous owners did maintenance on it and wouldn’t recommend buying one with a lot of lights on the dash even if it’s cheap. I’d go with a dealership especially if they give you a warranty. Lots of shady people selling junk Escalades on FB marketplace
God has blessed my DTS over the 2 years I have had her. We got our ups and down but for her to have 229000 I won’t complain. Yes it’s a pain but my car gotten me from thick and thin tho she need a water pump aye she still been reliable to me
I have 2007 Performance model. Has 278,000. Rides good. Everything works. Does have the the oil pan gasket leak. I was at 1 quart of oil per 800 miles. I like these old cars. I don't know what else to get for highway travel. Certainly not some battery powered car.
