Just discovered your video. I've viewed many from simple to "over-built." Love your functional and what appears to be a relatively easy build. Any chance you may have plans or dimensions of the wood used? Thank you, Larry Ford

Hi, I've had similar problem as yours, just leaning of the fence was oposite. I fixed that by making my own atached fence with adjusting screws on the back. Here is the link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EESzTgZ1NdY.html

The same YT’ers (interneters) talking about tape at the height of the out of plumb fence, probably don’t even understand the term “plumb”….they’ll keep saying “level”, these are the same modern “interneters” who do something ONCE, make a video explaining/“influencing” like there lifelong passionate craftsmen. Truth be told their novice BS narcissistic egotism gets pushed on the next “trendy” person……much like now, with these clickbater f’n fartknockers…..the cycle of “modern BS interneter’isms” will continue, follow the same entitled sequence, thus creating a world of “YT DIY dumb masses” who failed from day one, never learning to (respect the craft/their elders) appreciate the decades of craftsman/carpentry/woodworking/cabinet making/furniture making/boat building who’ve all put in the time and respect the ones who did it before us. It’s a sad thing to watch in something you’ve been invested in as a second generation builder, I can honestly say…..looking around at the greed, deception, arrogance….we’ve gone from a greatest country on earth pushing the envelope in architecture building Greene and Greene style craftsmanship to the modern quadrant POS, house flipper mentality as a collective and it’s disgusting what we’ve turned into. Notice I say we…..and let’s think about this with a deeper understanding, for those who say they had all the prime wood and didn’t have such high costs for lumber…..I can agree with one thing, they didn’t have our debt slave usury money system, no they had real money, the same corrupted monopolies sucking our resources dry but they had hard money, real money brings an intuitive understanding and pride in skilled sweat labor, until then let the circus and clowns continue to manipulate the collectives integrity!

Wow! Seems you've been holding that in! While I don't disagree with your comments as a whole, its a bit misdirected. Would have more influence as a its own Blog. Most people, I assume, have gone to all the places they should go for answers and come up dry, thus having to figure things out on their own (shims with tape, etc as in this case) and are just passing along their own experience and results for the reader to try it out or move on as they like.

I have the same problem and it is getting worse. It has about .200 run out with a dial indicator. It is so sloppy that you can't predict where the front edge of the blade is going to enter the material being cut. Bought it in Dec 2020 so can't return it. Guess SBD only plans for someone to use 1 yr. before performance deteriorates (sloppy).

If you can get your fence to even move, you're way ahead of me. The instructions make no sense, and I called DeWalt and they told me to watch RU-vid. You're so far the only video I can find. The instructions say to put the fence on these bolts and slide it, but the bolts don't move. It also says to loosen two Philips screws and slide the scale to zero, but the scale only moves about an inch at around 6" mark. I would need to drill new holes. Horrible directions. I'm about ready to return it and buy something that makes sense.

I bought the same miter gauge and have the same issue. Being able to 0 the miter gauge is very important. The preset indexing slots are absolutely worthless, in my opinion. Your indexing tool is very slick. I don't think you should have to buy that tool to check a " upgraded " miter gauge. I just emailed Rockler to see if they will do something for me. Hopefully, they stand behind their products. Thanks for posting, I've come across several comments all stating the same issue.

You might have to take apart the entire fence. I had to do that on my Dewalt DWE7485 tablesaw just to get to be true with the blade. It’s off a little bit the way yours is that doesn’t bother me, I’ll just take apart again and adjust. Just one note when you take the entire thing apart take the metal primary part of the fence and clamp directly to the blade with a trigger clamp, and make sure that the tablesaw is unplugged one doing this. This will help you make whatever adjustments you’re gonna do the fence before you attach it back to the rack and pinion.

I used playing cards as shims under the black plastic things at each end of the fence. I cut the cards down into smaller pieces and added them under there until it was square. Then I taped them in place with that aluminum foil tape used for HVAC work. They are still there, and it's still square. Was really easy.

I added two layers of double-sided tape on the hill of the fence where it meets the rail to prop it up, just a hair to make it square to the table.

Hello, How and why did you attach a piece of HDPE to the rip fence?
@randyberry3877
@randyberry3877 20 дней назад
this is a year old but on the 7491 you can accidently rip into your fence with the rack and pinion set up. So that's sacrificial to protect the actual fence.

Gentlemen, I think I may have discovered the solution to our shared problem of an unsquared fence without adding tape or external material. Here are the steps: 1. Loosen the “star screw” from the ends of the fence. 2. Loosen (not remove) the two “star screws” on both sides of the back of the fence. 3. Lift the fence until it can no longer move. 4. Tighten the “star screws” on both ends of the fence. 5. Set your square against the fence face then calibrate the fence by tightening or loosening the back “star screws” on both sides. That’s it! Now I wonder why this wasn’t included in the owner’s manual! Hope this helps. If anyone needs photos, send me a note as I can’t seem to upload photos here.

@@michielverlinden5604 unscrew all 6 star screws on the fence. 4 in the back 2 each side. Then 2 at the end 1 each side. Take out the aluminum fence make sure its flat. If yes you can make an adjustment like camber and toe(car wheels alignment) or 90degree angle as you screw them back together.

Simple yet elegant!! I’ll have to look at this video on my larger laptop screen to get a better idea how you trimmed and shaped the 2x4 brace on the saw and on the table. I’m thinking you can make the table portion wider but there is a limit on the width of the 2x4 brace so you can still fold the saw up, correct? Thanks again!!
